I am at a loss to adequately convey how happy I am that we chose Mark Van den Heuvel for our family…read morelaw case. Although this firm is not exclusively a family law practice, I have to say that Mr. Van den Heuvel is very well versed in this area. He has been a God send to us. We originally attempted the do-it-yourself method and soon found that a child custody case is very convoluted in that it is nearly impossible to navigate the paperwork or find any help even in the family law facilitator's office. We found ourselves in an absolute nightmare. After about 2 months of trying to get the clerk-accepted paperwork to the courthouse I finally decided that we couldn't take a chance of something going wrong, and after some research, decided on Van den Heuvel- a Law Corporation. When we met with him, I found him to be a very knowledgeable and experienced attorney. And although he (obviously extremely busy) didn't need to take our case, after hearing our story, he agreed to represent us. In hiring this firm, I believe I have never made a better decision. To anyone who has had dealings with a custody case, it is a highly stressful ordeal and we have finally found a champion to help. I would recommend this firm to anyone seeking great representation.

Jared Hastey was phenomenal! 6 months after my divorce was finalized I found myself heading back…read moreto court to determine school districts and I knew I didn't want to use the attorney I used for my divorce because I suspected them of over-billing and their log of clients is just so large that you feel like only a case number to them. Jared came highly recommended in our Plumas Lake community and I'm so glad I retained his services. You can tell he has a passion for what he does and fighting for what is right. He assured me all along the way that I had a valid case and I needed that assurance several times because my opponent took the case as far as he could and had a few low blow antics along the way. I was more than pleased with the outcome of my case and having a lawyer who takes a lot of pride in his work is a huge reason things turned out the way they did. His services are also very affordable and his billing is fair and transparent. I'd recommend him to anyone who finds themselves in family court in the county of Yuba!!

I want to expose the truth concerning a lawyer in a recent divorce case. Mr Jared Hastey in…read moreMarysville,Ca has represented the petitioner, my ex wife, .Colusa Co Court ordered me to pay him $7,500 in the judgment dated 8/8/2024 at the request of the petitioner for attorney fees though he never represented me in this case. He ended up with $10,500 which was an over payment. I sent him a check in June 2024 for$3,500 and the petitioner was supposed to pay him the difference from my credit card to total $7,500. Mr Hastey decided to keep $3000 over and never explained why. He did not comply with the court order nor gave receipts for payments nor any refund for the over payment, I also had to pay the entire QRDO of $695 which should have been split with the petitioner as per the court order. Many false information has been found on official interrogatories between Mr Hastey and the petitioner that I discovered in my investigation. Included were accusations of failed spousal support and me suddenly reducing my work hours to avoid paying the petitioner support. All this is flat out false since I have bank statements going back back 5 years to 2019 proving that all spousal support was given and also have pay stubs showing that I've been part time for at least 2 years since 2022 prior to this case and not a sudden decision on my part. I was served first by the petitioner at my work and Mr Hastey was hired by her without my prior knowledge. Both occurrences were in 2024. Mr Hastey claimed that I withheld supporting financial formation in the declarations of disclosure and the income and expense documents to the court. He even wanted to access my retirement account even though he was not representing me in this case. I have given all the required information to the Colusa Co. Court via their help desk since they were my only course of contact within the system. I also disclosed all my financial information to the QRDO folks that were working on the division of retirement funds to the petitioner. The court accepted all my paperwork and I didn't hear anything else about it. Also Colusa court blocked my retirement account so I couldn't even log in much less move funds around and has been this way for over a year later after the resolution. And after the petitioner received all her money. Mr Hastey even sent a bill over to the petitioner requesting more money, of which I had to pay simply because I had a few questions in this matter of which I couldn't get answers for elsewhere. I am simply presenting the facts in the case and whoever reads it, please be cautious when hiring this attorney. Thank you

AMAZING!! He was EXTREMELY friendly and worked tirelessly throughout the entirety of my long and drawn-out case. If you want a kind, friendly, down-to-earth lawyer that will fight for you every step of the way, you MUST go to McCaslin & McCaslin. And I can't forget Marie. She was there every step of the way, eager and happy to answer any questions or concerns I had throughout the process even when Mr. McCaslin was unavailable. Lawsuits can be stressful and tedious, but having someone like Marie there to help you throughout it is invaluable. I could go on and on about the great experience I've had with the McCaslin Law Office without even mentioning how ecstatic I am about the results they achieved. However, I don't believe you can truly understand or appreciate what an amazing lawyer and his team can mean for you until you're going through it yourself. I will forever recommend McCaslin & McCaslin to all my friends and family. If you're looking for a law office and want to have a very enjoyable experience in an otherwise stressful situation, you MUST go to McCaslin & McCaslin.

I first started with him when he was with another firm, he then went to Gingery Hammer & Associates. I had a decision to make, either go with Jeff to the new firm, or stay where I was and to my own dismay, I decided to stay where I was, thinking it would be easier than trying to transfer everything over to the new firm. Well, that was unfortunate for me as the new attorney barely communicated with me on my case. I had to keep following up and was told there wasn't any new updates. I appreciate communication, and Jeff has always been great at that. I decided to change my attorney back to Jeff and quickly after the matter started to move forward! I was impressed and happy that the ball was finally rolling. I was also kicking myself because it would have resolved much faster if I had just gone with him in the first place. Lessons learned!
