I had some very nice treatments at the Estrella Spa. I don't know if I would go out of my way to use the Spa, but the services and staff were excellent. I had a red carpet facial in a GORGEOUS treatment room, that had a beautiful gas fireplace. The facial itself had a nice peel and my facialist was very good. There is an adult pool in the courtyard while I was getting my facial. Even though there was a sign that sign it was spa guests, there was a mini-fiesta while I was getting my treatment. I mean like these people were rowdy ... the booze was flowing, the conversation was loud and there was a distinctive smell of ... umm, skunk. Although the treatment was nice and so were the facilities, this was a bit of distraction from my relaxation. The spa is quite small, and there is a steam shower which steams up the entire small changing area. In the spirit of full disclosure, although I did enjoy my treatment and the very accommodating staff, I don't like a tip included in the service (20%). Typically I tip at least that much, but it doesn't feel like a tip when the receptionist states "Is adding 20% ok?". read more

UPDATE 12/29/07 I removed 1 star today because when I called to reserve for services that cost over 400 dollars, the snooty lady at the Spa reception gave me attitude instead of the respect I deserved. She pretty much told me they want to treat the guests of the hotel with priority. Which is great, but you charge me $15 per person additional to what you charge the hotel guests. And then I give you 20% tip on all services on top of that- what else do I need to do? Who do I need to F@$K in order to get some kindness and love from you guys? Anyway, I still like this spa. Too bad I have to penalize everybody because of just one lady with attitude- everyone else is so kind and helpful always. Our appointments are in 2 hours. If everything goes smoothly as planned, I may consider upping the rating back to 5 stars :) Sorry I'm so moody. But aren't we all? In March, my group went here and we all had spa treatments as part of our course on self-care. How about them biscuits, eh? I LOVED it! The manager was wonderful. The waiting area has a beautiful fireplace, nice changing areas and sauna. I had my massage with Bill. There were beautiful smells of aromatherapy all around me, a relaxing environment and a VERY healing deep tissue massage. Then, I dipped into the adult pool after. It was quite the experience. I don't think there's a reason beyond being a guest in the hotel to use this 'spa'. There's not real steam room, there's a steam function in the shower. which means you have to use the shower in order to steam and what if someone else needs to actually shower? Also because we used the steam function, the entire women's 'spa' area was filled with steam. The ventilation was not adequate. There's no sauna and the only jacuzzi is outdoors- which for a spa is perplexing. You're not meant to be clothed in a spa. You're not meant to be naked on the hotel grounds- so how the heck would you use the spa's jacuzzi? So this spa offers services- massage, facial, scrub. But with most resorts, you expect all the rest: steam, sauna and jacuzzi. I had a massage and the technician was not great. He performed very basic moves with no real flow. The spa included a 20% tip for the just ok masseur and then they state they can change this total if you 'object'. awkward. So I advise you use Estrella only if you are a guest of the Viceroy and you want the convenience of rolling off the massage table and back to your room. read more

RELAXING! I surprised my boyfriend with a couple's massage here for his birthday and we both loved it. It's tucked behind the cute Viceroy hotel by the pool area, and right when we entered, we got a warm welcome. The wonderful smell of aromatherapy was already so relaxing! Very clean and professional! My body felt brand new after the 60 minute massage...much needed after a crazy night before. I would definitely recommend this place :) read more

Has an amazing experience here. I had Yolanda and she was excellent, one of the best massages I've ever had. Full relaxation especially from being sore from working out. It was raining so had the massage indoors but they have an outdoor set up in a cabs which would have been nice, next time. If you stay at viceroy book a massage here. Really nice spa, and it's nice that you have an option of an outdoor massage. I don't think many spas offer this. The facilities are very nice, but note that the steam room is tiny, and can accomodate 1-2 people. The treatment rooms are pleasant, as are the staff. Definitely a worthwhile spa to check out in Palm Springs. read more

My boyfriend booked a couples cabana massage outside. I really enjoyed it. It was a great massage. The music was a little weird. I should have plugged in my pandora station, but all in all I really enjoyed my massage and leg treatment. I will be back it I am in Palm Springs again. read more

Stayed at the Viceroy under the "Breath Easy" package so we thought we'd get the most of our 25% off and try out the spa. The spa was very clean and the staff was all very friendly. My boyfriend and I got a couple's massage and both were happy with them. Nothing exceptional but it was a nice way to end the weekend and we felt relaxed afterward. read more

Great spa visit during Dinah Shore weekend! I had two treatments: facial with added eye treatment and a deep tissue massage. My friend had just a deep tissue massage. This is a luxury spa, a step up from the two-a-penny storefronts in the downtown area of PS. The spa itself is nice, nicely appointed and the staff is very friendly. If your used to day spas that exist on their own (not connected to a hotel), this will feel a little different. The spa is located just off of one of the small pools of the hotel. The lobby and locker rooms are in one location and the treatment rooms a short walk away. The treatment rooms are on the other side of the small pool. So it doesn't have quite the same, all-enclosed, zen peacefulness of a dedicated spa. The men's locker room was nice. There was a steam room in the locker room but my friend and I couldn't quite figure out the controls. We were in there when the steam was shooting out and it was VERY loud. When it shut off temporarily my friend complained that his ears were ringing. My facial was an amazing experience. Sharla (hope that's her name) did a great job. She did not speak to me much unless I asked a question or she needed to direct me to do something. I actually fell asleep during the facial. She did perform extractions (I've heard that's becoming more rare). The eye treatment was just a little collagen around my eyes but it really did help with fine lines! The whole facial experience was very relaxing. My massage with Rosie was good. As another reviewer said, she is a tiny little thing but she beat the crap out of me!! In fact, I would say she was a little too tough. But I winced a couple of times and she backed off a little. read more

Don't book a massage here, the therapist are not good. This is one of the cheapest to get a massage in Palm Springs for a reason. I wanted to get up a leave 15 minutes into my massage. Too bad really, because the Avalon hotel is very nice with a great pool, but the quality of what the Estrella is selling sadly is very poor.
