The students that attend this studio are encouraged to set high standards in both their academic education and dance education. The teachers are amazing and from all different dance backgrounds. The teachers work extremely hard, building the minds and bodies of the students, while encouraging the students to enjoy dancing. It not always easy and you have to be on pointe (lol). They are dedicated in making sure the students are strong and developed in their technique. The studio is very welcoming. You will always find a parent willing to help or share. For your convenience, supplies are available at the studio. Items may be ordered if out of stock and available to you within a short period of time. Everything you need is at your fingertips. My daughter goes through a lot of dance tights and I have been able to walk in and purchase a pair whenever needed. Living Arts has allowed my child to obtain amazing dance techniques and become well educated in the art of dance, all while creating the most incredible bonds with old and new friends. She's an only child with many dance sisters. I couldn't ask for a better group of friends or adult role models. Wait!!!! They also have DROP IN CLASSES for adults!!!! Shedding the pandemic pounds isn't easy, so I'm glad the instructors here do an amazing job at masking the calorie-burning exercises in the disguise of dance routines. For personal favorites, I love the hip-hop classes with Maya and Ricky. With both instructors, you'll learn to move your body in the way you didn't know you could. I'm a fan of hip-hop choreography and both of these fine instructors are great at creating fresh routines to match with the good beats. Aside from hip-hop, Zumba classes here are also great. Regardless of the class you choose, you'll be leaving the studio drenching in sweats.

I…read morethought the dance classes would add more stress from wedding planning but coming here once a week for a 1 hour session was almost therapeutic for the both of us. For the first session, the first 30 minutes was a free session. We chose our first dance song and Colleen, our awesome dance instructor, came up with the choreography based on our preferences/flow of the music. Colleen was super attentive and made us repeat the dances each session until we got it right. At the end of the dance session, she would record us on our phone of what we learned at that session so we could practice the dance at home prior to returning the week after. The hours are super flexible. Overall this was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend for engaged couples who want to have fun learning their first dance, to socialize/dance with other dancers, or even to learn how to dance!

But honestly, it's not an issue - the space is so welcoming and comfortable. I love that they offer a free week of classes - such a great way to get a feel for the studio without any pressure. I went to one class and absolutely loved it. The instructor was fantastic, really motivating and attentive. It felt like she was focused on making sure everyone was getting the most out of their practice, which is something I really appreciated. Another great perk: they have props available to borrow! It's always a nice touch when a studio makes sure you have everything you need to enhance your practice. I only wish I could have gone to more classes!

There was little to no attention to the individuals, she just stood at the front of the room the entire time doing the poses with us which made it feel somewhat impersonal. The space was also too small for the amount of people that showed up, so it felt a bit claustrophobic. Following my free trial, I also sent out MULTIPLE emails to her regarding the membership fee I was charged. I was not please with the service due to the above reasons so I did not wish to be charged for something I will not be returning to, but she never responded to my emails. (She had been very responsive to my previous emails prior to enrolling in the free trial). It just left me feeling like she was trying to get money regardless of my experience with the studio.

Went for Zumba with Jamie Wednesday, checked out their new studio, and had a great time! The studio is on the 2nd floor of nest (entrance on 13th street, not locust like the address says). Jamie was awesome and the class was a good workout, but 50 minutes felt so short! Also, the vibe of the class was a little womp womp, not as fun/exciting as other fitness classes I've been to, maybe because it's new and people are still getting to know each other. Hopefully that'll change. Also, right now it's carpeted and looks like a little kids play gym (which it is) but if there's interest, they'll put in hardwood floors and make it more legit. This is not a pretentious, super intense place. This class is definitely fine for people new to Zumba, but will still be a good workout for others. Having gone to Koresh a few days before, I will say that this place is more fitness than dance. The routines are simple, with more emphasis on workout than performance. As far as difficulty, I'd rank Jamie's class as slightly easier than the cardio classes I've taken at Thrive, but on par with Sweat (actually, Timaree teaches at Sweat and here and I love her!), the Sporting Club at the Bellevue, and 12th street gym (like I said, can't commit). $10 dropin is SUPER reasonable, and their class cards are only $40 for 5 and $70 for 10 and you can go to all their locations. Definitely great for people who like to mix it up! $5 off coupon if you sign up for their emails (so, $5 class!) Recommend checking them out! This location will only stay if there's interest.
