For what it's worth, this is my number 1 go to place to rent a kayak. I love the friendly staff. I love the quality kayaks. The prices are the most reasonable in town. The river is relaxing and a great place to take beginners. There is a lot of wild life to see. I take all my out of town guests for a good time. I try to get there as often as possible. I stopped by Estero River Outfitters today after spending the morning on the river. As a newbie to kayaking I was hoping to pick someone's brain about a more secure option for transporting my kayak than what I had been doing. I was greeted by friendly staff who pointed me in the direction of Kristin who took the time to look at how I had it currently secured and she quoted me a price on getting a rack installed in the future and she grabbed me some new straps that proved to be lightyears better than the ones I had purchased on my own. She then introduced me to Connor who kindly took the time to tie down the front of my kayak all while teaching me knotting techniques. We even made a video so I can reference it if needed lol. I left with my kayak far more secure than it was when I pulled in and feeling a lot more confident in my ability to safely transport my kayak by myself as a single woman And I got all of this service for what ended up being a $15 sale?!?!? When I am ready to invest in the rack I will surely be back and when I am some day ready to invest in a more "advanced" kayak I now have friends to visit! We had used a canoe a couple of times in the past- but this was our first time in a kayak. We rented a tandem sit in style. The people were very helpful- snapped a photo of us, and told us where to go. We had a great time, and we were amazed at how easy the kayaks are to maneuver. We saw a couple of manatees, and a banded water snake. We went mid day. We went To the right first, then on the way back continued down to Koreshan area. Very beautiful area. I took a kayak purchased in another state to the Estero river outfitters because the foot braces had been put on wrong and that company, Pokeboat, would not help me. Estero river outfitters were incredible! They saw my problem, figured out how to fix it, and did the work in record time. We were very happy with our experience. We were interested in purchasing two Hobie Kayaks and we were able to put them in the water to try them out, which was awesome. All of our questions were answered and we were not pressured to purchase. We decided to sit on it for a little while to make sure the investment was worth it to us- we came back 3 weeks later and bought them! This is the best place to rent also, as they have many types of rental craft to suit your desires and needs. We just bought our two new Hobie kayaks and couldn't be happier. First, everyone that works there is so knowledgable and easy to talk with. We're new to kayaking, having only rented a half dozen times but knew we wanted our own since we moved down here. They were so kind to our questions and helped us with everything we needed and or needed to know. They were with us every step of the way right up to teaching us how to strap them to our vehicle. The worst customer service I've ever experienced. We had a big group and needed to rent 9 paddle boards. They kept asking us how many we needed, we told them 9. Everyone paid the all day rate, no problem. When we get down to the water, there are only 6 paddle boards available. Since we couldn't go as a group, we asked for a refund. The lady who gave the refunds made snide/rude remarks the whole time she refunded each card. We were not upset, and didn't cause any problems just wanted a refund because we couldn't all go together. The way she handled the situation was very unprofessional and petty. We are permanent residents here and this was the first time I had ever been to estero river outfitters and I have no intentions of ever going back. read more

We rented two single kayaks and had a wonderful three hour paddle. The water was easy to paddle thru, lots to see including a possible gator and turtle spotting. The people that run the place are knowledgeable and very nice. The whole experience was such fun! read more

My husband and I were visiting Ft. Myers for our wedding anniversary and looking for things to do. I was interested in kayaking but had no idea where to go. A waitress at a local restaurant told us about Esturo River and we are so happy we went there. The price is so reasonable and the people who work there are great. The staff was friendly and helpful. We rented a tandem kayak, put in at 11:30, and were done at 2:30. You can keep the kayak all day if you want, but three hours was more than enough for us. We could've stayed out there longer, but it's just so hot and there's no place to stop and cool off. Definitely make sure you are protected from the sun and bring plenty of beer. As far as wildlife goes, we were of course hoping to see manatee or gator, but we didn't get that lucky. We did see some turtles though! We only wish the waters were swimmable or that there were some kind of beaches along the way where we could stop and rest. Other than that, we loved the trip and would definitely do it again if we visit the area in the future! read more
