Prescribing doctor difficult - very slow to respond to prescribe meds to help with sundowning, sleep disturbances, and at the end, pain meds - especially liquid morphine when my dad could no longer swallow. Do your research on the doctor your loved one will be assigned to for care. IT IS CRITICAL and could have saved us a lot of heartache on the last day. I regret using this company. Hospice is supposed to be comfort care - but instead I had to advocate even harder for basic care for my dad than I did before he was under hospice care, at a time when he was actively dying and I was most overwhelmed, sad and uncertain.

Most of them have a small number of caregivers providing care to many people at the same time. We had also heard horror stories of those types of places from caregivers that had worked in them. It was clear to us that we needed something more like her home that she was moving out of, with more care, and a much more personal relationship. Diamond Oaks Home Care was just what we were looking for. They are located in a home with plenty of privacy, but that is also small enough where everyone knows everyone and the staffing was excellent. My mother got better care there than we were able to provide her at home. Their family became our family. They were well staffed and are extremely accommodating. They legitimately just wanted to provide the best care for my mother. If you are in a tough situation and absolutely do not want to move your loved one away from their home, like I was, are worried about the quality of care that they will receive, and how it will effect them, my suggestion is to go see the people at Diamond Oaks Home Care. Have a conversation with them about your personal situation and how they might be able to help your loved one. We are happy to have met them and really appreciate everything that they did for our mother.

She had some special dietary requirements and physical challenges. They took the time to figure out a care plan and followed through. The meals were nutritious and made fresh daily. They were also able to facilitate working with hospice which helped quite a bit since I couldn't always be there. I was able to come by to visit anytime and they also treated me with respect and kindness. I would highly recommend Diamond Oaks. They said 6-9 months, and my sister waited over a year, and deteriorated so quickly that she became a danger to herself and the apartment building she lived in. Darlne was of no help; they just kept saying they were working on things. This is a scam, and it's likely that they are receiving money from the state, which is also a scam. Please don't use them, don't put your family on their waitlist. It doesn't work. We had to move my sister to another state. They give false hope. To this day, 14 months later we've never heard from them!
