In the 20 years I have lived in Georgetown, I have removed around 30 trees from our rather wooded lot. Estate Tree Service charges are reasonable, and their employees are professional, well-trained, and safety conscious. Estate Tree Service is unique in that all of the workers wear safety helmets that are connected with communication from the supervisor and co owner, Patrick Sumner, who is a firefighter with EMS training. The particular tree they removed was a large ash tree that had lost a sizeable limb in a recent wind storm, that fortunately fell away from the house. The main part of the tree was leaning over our deck and roof and presented a constant danger. Patrick monitored the tree climber, Jose, and stayed in contact with him throughout the tree removal. Their charges were reasonable, and they did an excellent cleanup upon completion. We hired Estate Tree Service twice this Spring for two entirely different jobs. That in itself should indicate how we would rate the business. In case you don't get the positive rating from that let me give you the Cliff Notes version of my review. Estate Tree Service is a legit business, professional, great team of workers, appropriate equipment available and used for all aspects of the job, very thorough work and clean up of the job site. They deserve an A+ for jobs well done. Now for more details of my five star review. We called several tree services in March to get a price quote on work we wanted performed in our backyard. Specifically we had seven old overgrown fruit trees that we wanted removed, all wood removed and stumps ground. Additionally we had done a lot of pruning of other deciduous trees and wanted all those limbs picked up and removed. The last major task was removing underbrush from under five large Pin Oak trees and advice/pruning of those trees. Two companies that we called were quite delayed on responding to our message. One company came out the same day as we called and provided a verbal quote, was vague about payment and equipment available to handle the job. Estate Tree Service answered our call when we made it and set an appointment for one of the co-owners to come out the next day to give us an estimate. Very professional from the start. Prior to arriving for the estimate Greg called to let us know he was on the way. He arrived ready to walk around and see the job site and listen to what all we wanted done. There was excellent communication and recommendation for what needed to be done to the Pin Oaks. After getting the full details about the job Greg excused himself to sit in his truck and write up the estimate. Within ten minutes Greg arrived at our door, came in and read the estimate to us. The form which he filled out in detail was a duplicate business form printed for this company. Unlike other tree services there was no request for payment in cash and all details of the work were itemized. As a legit business there was even a line item for sales tax that the state of Kentucky requires. In order to be placed on the work schedule we needed to make a twenty percent deposit on the very reasonable estimate. We paid and signed the contract right then and there and knew work would probably be four or five weeks away. Before Greg departed he left us with the customer copy of the estimate. Several days prior to the work being performed Greg gave us a call. The team of workers along with Greg arrived on time on April 4. They showed up knowing exactly what needed to be done and got right to work. They brought the appropriate company equipment to perform all the work. During the day the truck that wood was being chipped into got full but they had put a call into the business and a second one was brought out and changed for the full truck. Despite working hard the job took longer than expected so a second day was to be scheduled. That weekend tornadoes and straight line winds hit the area so a slight delay was requested on when the job would be completed. Not a problem for us so we agreed to wait until April 19 to have our non-emergency work completed. Every aspect of the job was done according to the estimate and beyond our expectations. At the end the entire site was inspected by their workers and left thoroughly cleaned up. On May 13 we had them come out for the second job that involved cleaning up several trees that had snapped off in the storm of April 13. Once again appropriate equipment was used on all aspects of the job. It required Mike, the other co-owner to bring out a boom truck rather than the bucket truck to cut down a large dead Ash tree. Now this is a part that totally amazed me. While the worker was working on the Ash tree he discovered a nest of flying squirrels. He took the effort to try and throw the Mom down to be reunited with her babies. The worker on the ground caught Mom, got bit but still held on to her while worker #1 could cut the chunk down that had the babies , put it in a sheltered area under the trees and put Mom in on top the four babies. Wow, I really was impressed at the compassion for our wildlife. Once again the job was completed and left thoroughly picked up after. Estate Tree Service will be our company of choice for all further tree needs. Definitely a five star company. read more

Fraud! Require 25% down (no big deal), my case 400.00. Never scheduled an appointment, a crew came out and trimmed up the tree (excellent job), but it wasn't estate tree service? Owner from estate calls me 4 days later and states we are ready to trim your tree. Sated excuse me, your guys completed 4 days ago. Owners calls me sauced up swearing, couldnt understand of the slurring. Apparently they don't know where their crew is or owner needs some vacation time and reflection. End of the day, Fraud was performed and now my goal is to make sure to spread the word. Probably going to spend more then 400.00 to make sure someone feels some pain in the pockets read more

They did an excellent job cutting down a large tree and trimming limbs on others. The guys were great and took extra care in cleaning up.

From what I've seen today I would highly question the safety standards of this company. 1) No helmets, eye gear or ear protection being worn by several workers while they are working loading a the chipper. 2) Worker in a bucket (bucket truck) working at least 5 stories, if not more, above the ground. Worker has again no helmet, eye gear or ear protection while working with a chainsaw. I also haven't seen the worker wear a safety body harness. Major accident waiting to happen. read more
