However the Petro Canada is a much better stop in most respects (lighting, service, store & washrooms). The bathroom is bigger, cleaner and better ventilated than those of many restaurants & coffee shops in the are never mind other gas stations. Also I have never once encountered a grumpy, unprofessional or shiftless attendant at this location which can't be said for many gas stations. There are other stations in the Richmond Hill area which compete with price on & off - the corners of Bayview/MajorMac and Bayview/16th have been "hot" in recent weeks, the Shell at Leslie/16th used to be the cheapest but it's been inconsistent ever since that big overnight 10 cent jump earlier in the year. However it is only at these Yonge & Weldrick pumps that you can always count on the markdown. Why not 5 stars? Like most stations the last 10 years, the Air Pump is not maintained. And just last week during the -11c night the windshield cleaning stations froze solid because they failed to replace the diluted mix with 100% winter fluid. I consider most gas stations worthy of only 2 stars, NONE of them meet my expectations for an industry with a license to print money. But this is place has the fewest peeves and combined with saving $3-$4 per tank on Top Tier gas, it's definitely one of the best.

I was in need of a drink this evening. I had some time to kill before picking up a food order. I…read moredid a search and found this Circle K. It's roughly a five-minute drive north of Hillcrest Mall. This store is a part of an Esso station. It has a touchless car wash, a vacuum, and a Tim Hortons with a drive-thru. Parking is interesting. There is one spot to the left of the store for a driver with an accessibility permit. On the right are two garage doors. Two cars were parked in front of each door. There are parking spots across from the gas station by the car wash. I backed into a spot and walked over. The Timmy's is a part of the store, next to the Circle K cashout area. Timmy's was pretty busy with customers. I had no problem finding beverages. I got two bottles of Diet Pepsi and a berry Gatorade Zero. I waited in line. There was a woman leaving Timmy's who was pleasant. She was carrying a lot of goodies. I asked if she needed help getting out of the store. She was fine and thanked me for offering to help. On the contrary, I opened the door for a young Chinese female going into the store who did not say thank you. I said, "You're welcome." Our eyes met. I figured out that her brother was the kid twirling around in the Timmy's line. It runs in the family. Ugh. Our eyes met again when they both left the store after me. I let her know that she had poor manners. I also stared her down when she was in the backseat of her mom's car leaving the gas station. Fun in Richmond Hill! Quite the contrast. I'm not your personal door person. I was carrying drinks and still managed to open the door for you. I was being nice. I didn't have to be kind to you. The LEAST you could do is say thanks. Instead, you acted like a privileged teen. I digress. I do feel better venting. Back to my review... The man at the checkout was super nice. He said hi. He asked me how I was doing. I was great then. I got my drinks scanned. I also scanned my PC Optimum barcode and paid with a credit card. Done! I thanked him. He wished me a great evening. I reciprocated. My berry Gatorade zero hit the spot. It was my first time trying it. I liked it. I'd return to this store when I'm in the area again. Customer service was great and I got the drinks that I needed. I hope that the no-manners kids aren't back when I am. (398)

What is cool about this Esso gas station is that gas prices are decent. I'm guessing that it's mainly due to competition. There's a Petro-Canada that I have frequented a number of times across the street. It felt like a gas war happening at Bayview and 16th avenues. There were plenty of available gas pumps when I was here. I had no problem entering my phone number associated with my PC Optimum card, followed by paying with a credit card. Pumping gas was smooth. This gas station was clean and cheerful for a gloomy, rainy afternoon. This gas station has a car wash. It was doing swift business while it was spitting rain. It was nice to finally drop by this Esso. I've got some decent gas station options at this intersection. (133)

I got $1.044/L when it was $1.104 at my other go-to stations and $1.159 everywhere in the 416. Since Thursday's 4c across the board price drop, they have maintained a -10c difference. Not sure how long this will last but if your business, leisure or Yelpwork will be taking you past the Bayview & 16th area I recommend trying to time your fill up to take advantage of the price difference and encourage the franchise operator to continue competing on price. (will post an update if I notice them fall back in line with the going rates.) Note that there is no proper access from the Bayview northbound lanes and access from westbound 16th requires a left very close to the intersection or a U turn to approach from the east, so those who are uncomfortable with abrupt & assertive turns may want to plan going past it and coming back around to approach form the east or the north.

Night time price drops are becoming increasingly common in areas of Thornhill & Richmond Hill between Yonge & Leslie. Other recent hotspots include the corners Bayview/16th, Bayview/Major Mac, Shell on 16th/Leslie the areas of Yonge/Steeles & Yonge/Weldrick (most dependable). This particular station has a large capacity so you're almost never likely to wait for a pump, it has a good deal of driveway space around the pumps, and people going to the store have places to park with sufficient space away from entering/exiting traffic (unlike the poorly designed sibling on the Bayview/Hitech side). The vast majority of operators in the GTA hold the line of the same price so I think it's worthwhile for the consumer to keep a list of locations who offer small discounts from their own margins and reward them with increased sale volume whenever it practical to do so. It may be only $7-$9 a month but it's money I'd rather spend on some coffees or waffles.

On Saturday, I was running errands and noticed that the low fuel warning was lit on my dashboard. I was driving along highway 7 and recalled this station. I pulled in. I have visited this gas station a number of times over the years, but well before my time on Yelp. This place is just in front of a bunch of box stores, such as Winners and Staples. The downside is going eastbound along highway 7 and making a left turn to get to this Petro-Canada. There is a ton of traffic approaching in the opposite direction that it is a wait before you can carefully turn to pull into the station. I like that the bays are wide and that there are many. I had no problem finding an available pump. I filled up and paid at the pump. It was uneventful, but smooth. This station is clean. I was happy that my car's gas tank was full again. (89)
