A totally fantastic hospital department. I arrived early for an ICD implant and was greeted, shown to my bed by a very friendly member of the nursing staff. Made to feel comfortable until it was my turn to 'go under the knife'. Everything was explained to me in terms that most would understand before the procedure was carried out. During the procedure, under local anaesthetic, all was described as the surgeon carried out his skills. Wheeled out into the ward for recovery with a welcoming cup of coffee, toast and a yoghurt (I hate yoghurt but ate it LOL). Allowed to relax but with checks every fifteen minutes. Later a sandwich, coffee and banana. Great staff.
Finally, released in the late afternoon feeling great.
Loads of people knock our NHS. Hope they don't to my face because I think we are so lucky.
Thanks to all the staff in this department. read more
