Even though she lived in Columbia and I lived in Charleston, her excellent communication and timeliness ensured a smooth and empowered experience. Lindsay also provided lactation guidance postpartum that was integral to our successful breastfeeding journey. She even provided placental encapsulation and the overall process was seemless. Lindsay is extremely knowledgable in so many areas of prenatal, birth, and postpartum care. I highly recommend Lindsay to anyone seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable doula.

We were looking for "someone in our corner" to help prepare us for and guide us through what could be a very long and difficult induction. In the end, Lindsay failed to meet those basic expectations, and we had to ask her to leave our birth after only 2 hours of her being present. Lindsay was disorganized and stretched thin in our prenatal meetings. The childbirth class she offered was primarily a Q&A session, which was somewhat helpful. However, the last 45 minutes were spent with Lindsay giving an anti-vaccine lecture. When she arrived at our birth, Lindsay was on her phone with another client. She then had to run back to her car for something before she ever checked in on me. She was very hands-off and said little to nothing the entire time. We finally asked her to leave when I noticed she was in the corner reading a book after I received an epidural. Before hiring Lindsay to support your birth, you should know that she will site inaccurate, unscientific information about vaccines for both you and your child, she will provide information encouraging against circumcision and vitamin K shots, and she may also arrive late and unprepared to your birth.

I would not have had this experience with the hospital. She amazed me during my delivery. She handled any issue that came up quickly and with ease. I had no complications because of this. I also loved the postpartum massage that you get several days after giving birth. It felt amazing! She treated my daughters jaundice quickly, and set us up with a bili blanket so she could be treated at home. Even a year later, I contacted her after moving to NY for some post breast feeding issues. She was happy to answer my questions and give me advice! I am so glad I chose to have my baby delivered by her. If I lived closer I would have the rest of my future babies delivered by her! I had such an amazing experience! I can't say enough good things about Amy!

She helped me bring my second son into the world yesterday morning from the comfort of a birthing pool in my bedroom. She was the most encouraging presence during labor and never once made me feel stressed out or worried. I cannot thank Linda enough for the support she provided for me during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. I cannot recommendation this place enough. Our midwives had practiced in homes over the past 11 years, but were getting calls from women who did not want to be in the hospital to give birth, but were not desirous of home births. These were young educated women who often contacted us after they had done hours of research on their own and had finally found what they were looking for; someone who would respect their opinions, provide them with resource and then give them options on where and how to birth. Research was done, a plan was launched, permits were acquired, a building was secured and renovations began. We were able to now have the best of both worlds, a home-like environment and easy access to medical facilities should they become necessary.

Jennifer was recommended to me by a friend of a friend who had a home birth. I had planned on…read moregiving birth at a birthing center and I mistakenly thought she worked out of various birth centers. However to my dismay I found out at our consult she only did home births. I liked Jennifer so much that I committed to a natural home birth and I'll never regret that decision. The continuity of care at our appointments was excellent. I think she had to reschedule my appointments maybe 3 times over the course of my pregnancy - which I thought was excellent for someone who works with time sensitive clients. At the birth, she was so supportive and encouraging and made the right calls to keep me safe when I couldn't deliver my placenta. She rode with me in the ambulance to the hospital, and came back to check on us later that evening and the day after we were discharged. She was also honest in that next day follow up about how she would not recommend I home birth again now that I'd experienced that complication. I'm sad I won't be able to home birth again, but I'm empowered with the knowledge I could give birth naturally in a hospital and not feel pressured at the hospital to accept interventions the way I did with my first child. Jennifer is someone I'm proud to know and recommend as a professional who has become my friend.

She was always encouraging me to do my research and helping me find resources. Her respect for my preferences during the birth and afterwards was extremely encouraging to me. It was a challenging decision and mindset shift for me to birth at home; and she met me where I was and encouraged me to take charge of the birth (with a little guidance ). During the birth, she only ever expressed 100% confidence in my ability to labor and birth my son. Also, as the baby was crowning, we found he had a type of shoulder dystocia (hand by his face) and she very calmly directed me to change positions. After a few minutes of supporting me in figuring out what position felt right the baby was born very quickly, crying and very healthy! I had two check-ups postpartum instead of just one like I normally would get. Jennifer is extremely supportive and knowledgeable and is an excellent competent midwife!

I was always interested in having a homebirth since having my own bad experiences in hospitals. After seeing my mom friends have bad birth experiences in hospitals that interest quickly formed determination, I just didn't know how to go about it. Thankfully after posting on a local facebook group I was recommended Karen by name not just by one person but several people. I Always pictured myself finding someone Who was holistically minded whom I could learn from and very quickly when first speaking with her I realized Karen was exactly that. I'm so thankful we picked Karen for our home birth because my labor was not easy it was 30 hours long and I was not exactly the zen primal birther I had hoped to be I was throwing up crying and down right exhausted for the latter half of my birth and thinking omg how am I going to get this baby out who do I think I am?? But Karen was on top of it she coached me through the hardest parts and gave me and my perineum the support we desperately needed! Because of her I had an incredible birth that has empowered me so much through this postpartum period. I don't think I would've been able to labor and birth at home without her knowledge and quick action.
