Meriton Suites on Herschel Street great location as it is just a short walk from Queen Street Mall and across the bridge from the 7News Ferris Wheel, Streets Beach, and other attractions. If you're coming from the airport, you'll want to take the Air Train from Brisbane Airport (about a 20 minute ride) and get off at the Roma Street exit. From there it's a very short (less than 10 minute) walk from the train platform to the hotel lobby. Even with luggage is a quick and simple walk. Infinity Tower as its called is also the tallest building in Brisbane, giving sweeping views of the city. The extra few dollars for the top floor is well worth it. There's nothing like a suite on Floor 70. For early check in, staff is very accommodating, providing a space to change clothes and to leave your bags if your room isn't ready. TIP: If you're an American tourist you love your ice, well no worries because they have an ice machine on property. All you have to do is ask for a few bags of ice. The rooms themselves are fantastic, offering spacious living room and kitchenette space as well as spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. The staff is very friendly and the stewards do a great job at cleaning the rooms. Overall I give Meriton five stars out of five.

Poised at the city side of the new Kurilpa Bridge, it is in an excellent location to take a stroll to the Gallery of Modern Art, State Library and the cultural delights of South Bank. The rooms are spacious (regardless of whether you decide on a one bedroom or two bedroom apartment) fitted with chic modern electrical appliances and furniture. The kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils for travellers wanting to unleash their inner-Masterchef, and a microwave for those who are more than happy to heat up somebody else's culinary wizardry. The bedrooms are large, with full length mirrors adorning the massive wardrobes. All rooms come complete with flat screen TV's and a balcony, perfectly positioned to watch the sun rise and set over the Brisbane River. One of the nice little touches were the lifts. An LED display on the inside spelt out motivational quotes - and every lift ride would contain a different quotation. Can't say I've come across a more welcoming, motivating lift in my life! Definitely a nice place to stay if you're planning a trip to Brisbane, or just want to escape for a weekend. They also have residential apartments for sale, so if you really enjoy your stay, you can move straight in! Prices are pretty competitive with most hotels in Brisbane ($189 per night for a one bedroom apartment).

The location is excellent as it is near a lot of busy streets with shops and restaurants, but is also close to neat sights like museums just across the river, the Needle and all sorts of parks. Additionally, the idea of staying in a one-bedroom apartment equipped with a full kitchen and in-unit laundry facilities is quite appealing when visiting somewhere for several days. These were the pluses. But there are minuses. First, they pretty much have no lobby. Do not expect a hotel waiting area. It almost feels as though you're arriving at a dorm. That can be fine depending on the circumstances and expectations. But if you just arrived from a 30+ hour trip and your room is not ready then it is a rather unfortunate situation. Second, the quality of cleaning that occurs daily is seriously questionable. It would be fine if they simply said they won't clean and then you didn't expect it. But they do go around to clean, except they don't really. Two days in a row, I found trash from my bathroom waste basket in the toilet. This trash wouldn't flush. Yuck. And the bathroom floor also hadn't been cleaned beyond sweeping some of the material to the corner. Yuck again. One evening I could also feel some weird smells from the bathroom area that were not originating in my unit. Were they I also had problems operating the television set. Try resetting the devices, then it may work. With realistic expectations - you're on your own - the place can be charming and comfortable. But you definitely don't want to think of it as a regular hotel.

It goes in and out constantly and when I asked if they had other alternatives for Internet they said "sometimes if the weather is bad it's not very good" huh?? What!? I come here for work and I literally have to go across the street to the Starbucks to work and come back to my hotel because I can't even load emails, send emails, receive text messages, and makes it impossible to work. A lot of things are broken/does not function in the hotel 1. Elevator button broken and gets stuck 2. Toilet when you flush keeps running water and you need to jiggle the button until it stops flowing or it won't stop. 3. Internet slow and does not work (paying for it and its free at Starbucks and works 100x better) 4. Pool/spa heater broken and cannot use the pool For the price of those hotel there is many, many places in Brisbane that is better, functionally, and a mor enjoyable stay.

They are, quite literally, a stone's throw from the Queen Street Mall and walking distance to everywhere you could want to go in the city. Though the prices reflected this, at around $350 a night for 4 people, we had a huge suite and the location was fantastic. We had a two bedroom suite which had two king beds plus a fold out sofa, with a proper kitchen and two bathrooms. The rooms and living areas were enormous and everything was modern and squeaky clean. The balcony overlooked Albert Street and looking out, one could see right up into the mall. The rooms were plain and spartan but modern and sophisticated. The concierge was surprisingly friendly towards a group of young, obviously out for a good time, people and we ended up having a fantastic weekend.

I personally like it. Not so roomy with 2 small luggages but we were able to work around it. Importantly, the queen bed is comfy. Room is bright with wall to wall windows and a glass door leading to the terrace. They have those blinds u buy at IKEA. Room is clean. Water pressure is fantastic. Shampoo and soap lather and clean. Excellent quality hair dryer and straightener. AC and heater are both available. No coffee maker but instant coffee and an electric kettle are provided. Comes with free breakfast. It's not buffet but offers delicious and filling choices. Our flight was early and so we won't be able to use the other breakfast vouchers. They provided me a refund of AU$25 pp. Breakfast provided at the restaurant on site, Frankie & George. This is definitely way better than those Super 8 motels in the US. We spent 2 nights only in Brisbane. So this hotel served its purpose for me. Highly recommending this hotel and its on-site restaurant, Frankie & George.

Out of all of the hotels available in Brisbane, I had to randomly pick one that I had already frequented. It wasn't all that bad though because I certainly had not had a bad time previously, and had picked it because it was one of the cheaper options available. Okay, the rooms (or at least my room) was pretty small, but I guess that is what you pay for, so I can't really complain all that much. Hey, despite it being in the centre of the city I could hardly hear a thing from outside. If there was one little gripe it was that the rooms were a little stuffy, but then again they did have free wifi so I guess that makes everything all right (though make sure you listen to their instructions because you might discover that you have burnt through all of your allocation before you know it).

From the moment that you arrive and walk in, you are instantly greeted with inviting smiles and the most relaxing, fruity, pleasant signature Capri by Fraser scent. No, I am not kidding. Each of the Capri by Fraser properties have their own crafted scents that are filtering through the vents and into the hotel lobby air. At this property the scent is a blend of apple blossom, cider wood, ginger flower, lemon and orange... HEAVENLY! I DID NOT want to check in to my room :) The theme of this Capri by Fraser property is feeling like you are in the rainforest. The designer was spot on because that is exactly how my friend and I felt staying here. Being the interior designer that I am, I have an immense appreciation for places with eye catching design and flow. The designers of this hotel (award winning designers ) Ministry Of Design really did an exceptional job on this entire property. The attention to detail they put into this place is off the charts. This place is the definition of trendy and urban chic. MY type of style ;-) So let's continue... The moment you walk into the lobby and to your right is a living vertical garden that is so beautiful and refreshing. To the left of that is the hotel restaurant, Asana by Chef Pete Evans which has a delicious seasonal menu serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was sooo good. On the second floor is the hotel gym, rec area, sauna and pool. All very well maintained with amazing amenities. The pool is a showstopper. My friend and I stayed there and relaxed all day going from pool to sauna and back to pool again. Loved the pool being indoors. It was insanely hot and humid outside! To top it off we had the pool all to ourselves!! :) With this hotel being under a year old, the staff do a great job keeping it extremely clean 24/7. Last but most definitely NOT least.... OUR ROOM! We were up on the 10th floor and had an amazing view of the buildings surrounding us. The room was very spacious with apartment style amenities. Anytime we requested anything, hotel staff would show up within 5 minutes, we didn't have to wait very long. Room service was fast as well and only took 15 minutes to be at our door every time we ordered something. Loved how isolated the sound was in our room. We had the music on very loud at some points throughout our stay and no one called to complain. It was nice to not hear the people next to us either :-p I can't think of one thing that I didn't like about staying at this hotel. I LOVED every part of my stay and the next time I plan on being in Brisbane I will definitely be staying at this place. Almost forgot to mention the concierge here, I forgot his name, he was so attentive to any of our excursion needs as well as any dinner plans that we wanted to make. He was amazing!! Another pet peeve is that the hotel room doors don't shut properly, so you are forced to slam them, which sucks if your neighbours arrive back late at night, or check out early in the am. Also, the taps for our shower were literally outside of the shower itself. Kind of quaint to have to reach out to change the shower temperature, but would be annoying if staying more than a night. My bf loved the sharpness and clarity of the tv. It is probably the only updated item in the room!

Great place for an extended stay when you don't want to unnecessarily burn cash by eating out 3 meals a day (Brisbane is a very expensive place... even more than Hawaii). If you keep in mind that it's an apartment hotel and not a swanky resort, this place will happily fit the bill. There's a 7-11 on the first floor and free pool/gym. My only complaint is the free in room WIFI is S-L-O-W slow. The fastest D/L was .37 Mbps and fastest U/L was .16 Mbps. Just enough to check email and some very light surfing. The good news is that you can take a 2 min walk to Queen Street mall and get some free WIFI there if you need something faster. I'm coming back!
