Since moving to Lakeland, I hadn't found a good, go-to hair place. And this was after years, I looked up places to try out and thankfully found Esquire! I've gone to Denise a couple times now and she is just the absolute best. Honestly, I need to get my hair cut more than I do, and even though it had been forever since the last time I went in, she still remembered me immediately. She's also so good about confirming how much hair you want cut. I feel like a lot of places you'll say how much you want trimmed or cut and then end up with much shorter hair than you wanted. But Denise is very careful to double check how much you want off and make sure it's what you want after she works on it, and continually ask. During Christmas season she'll even hand out cute little gifts. It's a whole experience going here and I love it! They also are pretty reasonably priced especially because some salons can be so spendy. Definitely recommend! read more

Go somewhere else for an updo! I recently scheduled an updo at Esquire Salon & Spa with Giselle Oliveras for a very special event, and I was left highly disappointed by the service. After arriving early for my appointment, I was made to wait for over an hour. The staff behind the desk, even other stylists walked by as we sat waiting, unconcerned. I was then informed it would be another 45 minutes before I could be seen, 30 minutes after my appointment time. Unfortunately, I had to leave without any services being provided and a 10% discount for a future visit, which was incredibly heartbreaking. This experience not only left me to tears, it ruined my plans for the event but also showed a complete lack of consideration for my time. I expected better from a salon when it comes to scheduling and customer care. I cannot recommend Esquire Salon & Spa and especially Giselle Oliveras based on my experience. read more

I was very disappointed. I googled the salon on yelp and found it highly rated. So I went to the store and asked root touch up. The hair dye they used was smelly and left mark on my hairline. So, today, I felt that it was time for a haircut. I googled barber shops in Lakeland, and Esquire Salon and Spa came up. I called to see if they had any availability for today and their pricing. They fit me in right away with Nashan. The moment I walked into the door, I was greeted by Barbara, who offered me soda, water, or coffee while I wait for Nashan. Nashan called me up and sat me down and we had a conversation of what I was looking for in a haircut. I even brought in a picture. I consider myself to be very particular with my hair because Asian men's hair are difficult to cut, but Nashan did awesome! She was very efficient and great to talk to. She's been doing hair for 20 years, which is hard to believe since she looks so young, but her experience really shows! She says she "loves hair, it is like art." I came to get facials with my sister, just basic facials nothing fancy. However the lady doing my facial told me she wasn't an esthetician. I felt so bad for her she should have never been scheduled a service she wasn't trained in. She put the towel straight from the warmer on my face. It was way too hot. The steamer was also way too close to my face & only covered one side. Super hot. She had no knowledge of the product line or what she was putting on my face. At one point she said oh this one has superfruit in it. She out right said serval times she was so sorry she didn't know what she was doing. When asked what product line it was she said bare minerals. I expected a pro line like Dermalogica or Bioelements maybe. She tripped & unplugged Echo & kept leaving the room. The sheets were so stained she tried to wipe them off in the begging. $50 for nothing, I would never recommend this place to anyone. However she told me this area of FL no one gets facials, its not a big thing here at all. read more

I have never had such unprofessional treatment by a business in my life. I made an appointment with Nashan Berrios for a cut and color. The Saturday of my appointment, I waited for almost an hour before she came out and told me that she had made a mistake and forgot to put my appointment on the books. Not only that but the salon didn't even stock the red that my hair is colored. She had to order my color and asked me to come in the following Saturday. Stupidly, I did. Nashan wasn't even at the salon this time. Rather than someone actually telling me this information, they let me sit like a fool in the waiting area for half an hour before telling me that I should text her. I left without my hair done once again and a couple hours carved out of my Saturday. Nashan finally texted me "To call her when I got a chance..." at 6pm on Saturday night, but when I did she didn't answer. Here it is Sunday afternoon and I still haven't spoken to her, nor has she even attempted to apologize to me. I have never been so embarrassed or disrespected. I prepaid for her services via a Groupon that she was offering online so I suppose that since I wasn't paying full price for what she was offering, my time and money meant nothing to her or the other staff members of the salon. Groupon is only offering me credit for my purchase rather than the cash back so I am out $65 for the cost of the cut and color. Sure, I can spend that money on something else, but after this experience I can't say that I will ever use the service again. If you value your time, I would strongly advise against making an appointment with Nashan. As for the salon itself, I really think that they could have handled the situation in a more professional manner. I understand that they "don't keep her appointment book for her" but they should have made an attempt to make it right. read more

Im proud(and a little surprised) to be reviewing the best salon/spa in lakeland, my hometown. Ive seen this business go through major transformations as ive been coming here since I was little with my mom. The owners(diane and her husband) are wonderful and professional. They used to have a way smaller location in north lakeland, but the newer location on south fl ave is HUGE and they now offer a full range of spa services here. The inside is beautiful, and the staff is super talented. Highly recommend brittany for styling. Ive had hair cuts, waxing, facials, pedicures and more here and all have been superior. If its your fault the hair needs a toner than it shouldn't cost the client 30 extra that's just my opinion . Went on a whim and decided to try out a new salon to get my hair bleached and toned to a cool platinum blonde. Came in with high hopes. Although very disappointed because of the attitude of my stylist and lack of caring. She left me in the sink with toner on my head for the full 30 minutes (ouch!) while she did someone else's hair. Not that the toner even helped because I was left with incredibly brassy orange hair. I asked about doing another bleach or possibly toning again but she did not acknowledge it or care to please me. Said that was as light as I could possibly get. Even though I made an appointment. My hair needed a trim desperately by the end and they "did not have time" apparently. So do yourself a favor and don't go to this fake "luxury" salon. They charged me $150 for literal trash. My daughter and I went in for cuts and color. Alexis was our person and she should probably get a job at McDonald's. My haircut was butchered, I look like a man with a lopsided head. My 15 year old daughter's beautiful super long hair was completely fried. She has been in tears for weeks. NOTHING we do can lighten the damage except to cut it all off. We were not aware of how much damage she did until the next day. She set no timers, and never once checked to see if things were going ok. Stay away from here or at least the person named Alexis. I came in to esquire on Saturday to get my botched haircut fixed and it was AMAZING! After a full consult, Alex took me back to wash my hair and I wasn't expecting such a great head massage, the sinks were more comfortable than any other salon, it was like laying in a recliner. After my haircut Alex dried my hair with a round brush and it was softer and smoother than it has ever been. I love this salon and definitely will be back. read more
