This is a great barbers which I really couldn't fault on any front. Either the barber is irritating and antagonistic, he/she is ridiculously rough with your scalp or it's insanely overpriced. Thankfully, Richmond Barbers doesn't succumb to any of these pitfalls. The service is friendly, unimposing and give you a quick, decent haircut. The mood inside is welcoming and chilled out with nice music playing in the background. When I was in I was seen to within about ten minutes and it only cost about £5 which I thought was very reasonable. If I lived closer to Richmond Barbers I'd certainly use it frequently and I recommend it without question.

The place is small and only 2 people can be taken cared of at a time, but if you go at certain times you won't need to wait. (You'll have to become a regular at this place to find that info for yourself ) The 2 barbers here welcomes everyone's and are skilled at what they do. Tell them what you want and they'll cut your hair the way you like. If you're not happy and you want more trimmings and cutting, they'll do it for you until your satisfied. If you like getting the typical fohawk, trim, haircut, or shave, they can do it for you. Haircut starts at £9 and if you're a student with a card it's £8. These guys enjoy what they are doing and take pride with what they do. Since I'm a regular, I've gotten to know them so it's always nice to get my haircut. Even if they are busy and tired they always have a big smile on their face and ready to welcome you!

There are a few barbers dotted around, and Bailey's Barber Shop is, in my opinion, a cut above the rest. I first discovered Bailey's in the first year of my degree, while I was living in the Newington area of town. They quickly established themselves as my barber of choice. There was rarely a wait for a haircut, and I often went by on my way into lectures. The barbers themselves were chatty, and always gave me the haircut that I wanted. This, combined with the ideal location, meant that I continued to come back here for the first couple of years of my degree before I moved to the other side of town. Prices are reasonable, with a student discount available. For someone like me, whose hair grows at a fair rate, using a salon would not be cost-effective. Bailey's Barber Shop provided me with a great haircut each time, and I would highly recommend them.

The quality isn't poor, don't mistake it for being cheap in that sense, but by keeping things simple you generally don't have to spend too much and before long you'll be on your way. As far as I'm concerned, it does the job. As for opening times, there isn't much specifics I've seen it both open and closed at identical times of day. I guess it just depends on the staff. Ideally just ring ahead and if not it should be open within reasonable hours, but you may have a wasted trip. Generally though, it is rarely closed for the duration of a normal working day.

Woods wasn't busy so I decided to give them a try. Big mistake. I was clear and concise to the barber who took me: just take a bit off the top, around the ears, and at the nape of my neck with scissors. He did so, and it looked as I expected. As he was finishing up, I thought, he picked up his clippers and started trimming around my ears. I didn't think anything of it since that's normal to get a clean line. Then without warning he shaved up the side of my head. I was speechless. Too late to stop him with one stripe of hair already gone from ear to crown, he proceeded to silently shave the rest of the sides of my head, leaving only a bit on top and my fringe. He had turned me into a skinhead. I went straight home and shaved the rest of my hair off, it was so bad. And that's how I ended up with a totally buzzed head in the middle of the Scottish winter!

The prices here are good considering the quality of cut you get. This isn't a cheap knock-em-out barbers and considering the quality of cut you get it is great value for money.
