A Cautionary Story -- What I Wish I'd Known Before My Breast Augmentation In 2022, I finally decided to get my breast augmentation -- something I had dreamed about for years. I did my research carefully and chose this clinic because the surgeon promoted a "unique technique" that supposedly eliminates the need for a post-surgical compression bra during recovery. That promise was a huge part of why I trusted him with my body. At first, everything seemed fine. But once the swelling settled and I began to really look at my results, I noticed something was off. My left breast had shifted far to the side -- so much that when I lie flat, it literally slides toward the outer edge of my body. Standing up without a bra, my breasts sit noticeably wide apart. When I put on a bra and pull them together, I love the look. But without it, the symmetry and shape are disappointing -- and completely opposite of what I was told to expect. When I shared my concern during my final follow-up, the surgeon brushed it off with, "Side boob is a good look." Maybe for some women it is, but not when one breast has migrated halfway toward my armpit. That's not style -- that's structure gone wrong. I waited a few years to be sure my body had healed before reaching out again, hoping for an honest conversation about possible correction. Instead, I was told I'd have to pay $190 just for a consultation -- and that they don't offer complimentary post-surgery implant checks, even years later. I had assumed they would at least verify that the implants were still properly positioned and safe. For context, most women are required to wear a post-surgical compression bra (a supportive medical garment that holds the implants in place and helps the chest heal evenly). I wasn't asked to wear one because the surgeon claimed his "no-bra recovery method" made it unnecessary. In hindsight, I wish I had worn one anyway -- it might have prevented my outcome. read more

I've been considering a breast augmentation for years now. Last year, I consulted other doctors in the area, but they didn't feel right. I thought I had found my doctor after reading the raving reviews and looking at the before and after gallery. When I initially called to make an appointment, Espirt's phones were down. I filled out an online form on their website and got a call back later that day. The woman on the phone was pleasant and scheduled me in. All was good until she asked for the $200 consultation fee - the most expensive fee of any of the other doctors I researched and consulted. The day of my consultation I get a phone call from the receptionist informing me that their 3D imaging is down and I could either reschedule or come in regardless and not get the imaging. I wanted to get the imaging, especially at the $200 consultation fee price, so I rescheduled. The day of my rescheduled consultation I get another phone call from the receptionist saying again that their 3d imaging is down and I can reschedule or come in. I'm a busy mom of two young kids, as any mother knows, it's tough enough to schedule appointments yet alone rescheduling. I decided to keep the appointment and meet with Dr. Connall. Day of my consultation I was greeted by a friendly receptionist. I filled out some paperwork and a nurse brought me back to the consultation room. The nurse was very warm and pleasant (the best interaction I had that day). Dr. Connall was professional and thorough during the consultation and answered my questions however, of all the doctors I've seen he was the only one that recommended a small implant with fat grafting - the cost of two procedures instead of one. Additionally, said I could come in again a year down the road and increase my breast size with another procedure. So, instead of one standard breast augmentation I was looking at 3 to get my desired results. Initially, I liked the idea of fat grafting as I do have some fat tissue to lose, but hindsight I feel like it was an up-sale tactic with the 3 procedures. After the consultation, I was brought into the scheduling room to book surgery. I was interested in getting on the schedule to then go home and talk it over with my husband. I was not told there was a $250 surgery scheduling fee, as my card was charged that same day. So now I'm 450 with Espirt with no 3d imaging and a procedure I didn't intend on getting. I decided to continue with the surgery, as i was excited to finally get my breasts done. On the day of the pre op appointment, I met with a nurse first and as she was going over my notes, she stated I was getting implants and liposuction (not fat grafting). I corrected her and said Dr Connall wanted to do fat grafting in addition to the implant. Another red flag that my surgery was incorrectly written in my file. This led to me having to now get a mammogram because of my age - this was NOT mentioned to me during the consultation by Dr Connall, the nurse or the scheduling secretary. Because of my age, my insurance won't cover a mammogram and it would be an additional 300-500 out of pocket. At this point, I get a huge rush of anxiety. I would not have scheduled the surgery had I'd known I'd have to get a mammogram. There were too many red flags, too chaotic, unorganized, non transparent and sneaky that I decided not to move forward with the surgery. Ultimately, I want to feel safe with the doctor and staff when I'm going under on anesthesia. I want to feel confident that I'm safe, I'll attain my desired results and I want to feel more than I'm just a monetary value. Due to my concerns listed above, we asked for at least my $250, as there was no way I felt safe or valued to go under the knife with them. Dr. Connall refused to refund the $250. He offered to pay for the mammogram, but we explained to him all the red flags and he didn't budge. Dr. Connall refusing to at least refund the $250 is so telling of his character and the Espirt practice. I wouldn't recommend Espirt or Dr. Connall and staff to anyone. I would run far in another direction, as there are competent and compassionate surgeons in the area. Save yourself the $200 consultation fee and just cross this doctor off your list. I have wanted breast augmentation since I was a teenager and realized then that it just wasn't in my genes to have large boobs naturally. Over the years, I kept thinking about it but didn't have the money or I felt I needed to lose "x" amount of weight. Well at 48, I was in a great place financially, found the Love of my Life and my Life Partner and he loved me just the way I was physically. But... I decided to go for it because I knew it would make me feel better about ME. Dr Connall was recommended to me by a friend who saw him for a tummy tuck (among other things) and she raved about him. I looked online and was impressed that you could actually get a real quote from the site and the price included all pre & post op appointments and the anesthesia - there are NO hidden fees. I scheduled my appointment and after my consultation, I felt exactly the same about him and his team. I happily scheduled my appointment and then Covid struck hard. So after 3 months from the original appointment, I was finally able to get it done in June. I couldn't be happier with the results! I was in minimal pain and the pain pills prescribed to me were fine and I had enough of them. You leave in a minimal support front closed bra and after the first day, I took it off and haven't worn a bra since! I was off work for 5 days - I work at a desk in front of a computer - and that was fine. You will be feeling great after the 2nd day and you do need to remember that you just had surgery and to not do too much. Dr Connall called within a week to check on me and I just had my first in person follow up yesterday. He was happy with how things were healing and the progress of the implant settling. However, warning...if you are going significantly bigger...please remember that you will have chest muscle swelling and the breast skin needs to stretch for the implants to fall and settle. I'm going to be 100% honest. I have been going to esprite for some years now and I have gotten more than one surgeries done here as well as injectables and I've always had a fantastic experience. The last few times I have went for filler I have gotten a new injector both times (she did great) but this most recent time the surgeon that I've seen previously is the one who did my lip filler. I agreed to a full syringe when injecting me he only gave me a little over half of syringe he said he didn't feel I needed more and didn't feel comfortable, letting me go bigger that I didn't need it. Mind you I had zero filler in my lips before hand as it had been almost two years since I had previously got filler to be honest, I'm disappointed. I paid full price for little product and this was some thing I have really been looking forward to treating myself with since having my daughter. I'm in the process of having a breast augmentation done and am severely disgusted and annoyed by my experience with Esprit. The night before my surgery, they had to cancel and reschedule because they dont have some equipment they need. I moved my schedule around so that this date would work and cant just shuffle around my whole life again at the last minute. Plus, I've been trying to call and get this either cancelled or rescheduled and just got hung up on twice in a row. A few days later I spoke was with someone who told me they should be able to get the equipment they need in time for me to have my surgery on 1/7/20, and if not 1/10/20 at the latest. We decided to schedule tentatively for 1/7/20 and I was told if anything changed I would receive notification about the next steps. So, 1/6/20 rolls around and I haven't had any communication with anyone from Esprit at all, so I call to double check the time my surgery is scheduled for the next day. The receptionist, Jessica, informs me that I am not on the surgery schedule and says she's "pretty sure" they're working on getting me a refund. What!?!?!? A refund? So they decided not to do my surgery and no one even told me about that decision!? And she's only pretty effing sure I'm getting a refund? So, this time they cancelled my surgery without even informing me and the receptionist is only "pretty sure" they are working on getting me the $9,000 I prepaid back to me. Wow. What a shit show. I am so disgusted and angry with how this place is run. I recieved 0 calls, 0 emails, absolutely nothing from them after our last phone conversation during which we tentatively decided on 1/7/20. They put no thought nor effort into communicating with me what they had decided. This surgery is a big deal to the person going through it and they act like it's just a reservation at a restaurant or something! They just waited for me to call them the night before my tentatively scheduled surgery and dropped this bomb on me. Now I understand why there are no reviews here yet. .. I'm finding that It's hard to type a review without sharing "why" you required services here. So I will touch on a few basic facts without a lot of detail. 1. Initial contact: It was by phone and was friendly, informative and gave all the answers to my questions. 2. Scheduling: Unlike other places I called who couldn't see me for weeks, this office had me come in immediately because of the nature of my situation. 3. Doctor: Dr. Connall was very personable. He was easy to talk to yet he also listened well too. He offered options and gave recommendations. The final decisions were made together. 4. Staff: The staff was excellent. Three that I met with were very helpful with finance options, scheduling, providing information and answering questions. Since special imaging was required before surgery they got me right in to an appointment the very next morning in the states top imaging facility. They then found a surgical center with an OR available for the next day also. 5. Surgery: Dr. Connall has a very calming personality yet fun and light hearted also as he prepped me for surgery. I was completely calm and knew that I was in good hands. 6. Recovery: Dr. Connall waited until I was conscious so that he could talk to me. He had already been out to the waiting room to talk to my husband. 7. Follow up: The nurse from Dr. Connall's office called the next morning to talk to me about recovery, pain levels and recommendations. Not happy with the results of my surgery performed. They said it was in the paperwork that I signed that results may very. Also, to fix the end result will take another surgery and cost almost 25% more money. The beginning of my experience with the team was excellent, but sadly if you are not happy they have an oh-we'll attitude unless you pay them more. Not very professional. First of all, Dr. Connall is one of the BEST plastic surgeons if not THE BEST in the Portland metro area. Where do I begin? From the minute I met him during my consult, he helped me assess my goals and made them realistic. He was very professional, informational and I loved his attitude and experience. I came in seeking more plastic surgery than necessary and he did not try to sell me anything. He actually talked me out of doing certain procedures that were unnecessary which saved me thousands of dollars. When it came to my surgery, he performed a breast implant removal with fat grafting. If you see my before and after pics his work speaks for itself. I had large implants with breast tissue that had fallen over them with excess skin hanging. It looked pretty bad. I was worried that if I got my implants removed I would be left with small breasts. Dr. Connall created a 36 C through fat grafting. My natural breasts are perky, on the larger size with no IMPLANTS! I love the way I look. They fit my body frame so well. Scarring is pretty minimal too. I love his work, his results are outstanding! His personality is awesome too! He even came and said hi to me right when I was coming out of anesthesia. I love his staff, from front office, back office, nurses and anesthesiologist ALL of you are wonderful. It is hard to put into words how incredible Dr. Connall and his staff are to their patients. I got breast implants by Dr. Connall about 7 years ago then after giving birth to 3 children and losing 150 pounds, I decided to go back in and get a tummy tuck to remove my extra stomach skin. After seeing me, he said that my best option was to get a lower body lift, which I'd never heard of. It is a surgery that not only takes care of the extra skin in the front of your stomach but also the love handles and the back as well as smooths out the butt and thighs.
