I may be jaded. It was very early in the morning, the coffee machine in our Air BNB didn't work, and I'm a morning grump.
I walked into Espresso House mainly because it was both close and open. Grumpy me, I expected a chain place with mediocre coffee and service.
I could not have been more wrong. And I was greeted by the cheeriest young woman I've ever met. She went out of her way to get me two coffees, a pan au chocolat, and a canelstang (?). "May I heat the pastry for you?" she asked, and I knew this place had won my heart -- and five stars.
Espresso House didn't change my life, but it sure changed my morning for the better.
