Stayed here two nights from 1 July to 3 July 2014. Total cost was 109 euros (with VAT included of course).
I booked the hotel on booking.com after finding it on Kayak.com. I did not quite understand where Bray was, but it is definitely not Dublin. Bray is a seaside village south of Dublin. To get here from the airport, you have to take the aircoach (13 euro ticket per adult) to Superquinn in Bray, and then walk a good 20-30 minutes uphill then downhill to get to the hotel. You could also take DART down to Bray, but that again, involves walking from the station another 10-15 minutes. It is a peaceful walk, but a tedious one.
The staff were very nice. My first impression was that they needed some decor upgrades, as it was a carpet-filled mess in the lobby, with the sofas even looking like they were made of carpets.
The room was more spacious than I thought it would be. There was a window overlooking the beach, and you could open it. However, the entire window was caked in cobwebs, and was not too pleasant.
WiFi was free and easily accessible. Some of the fastest speeds I have ever seen for a hotel.
The bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet. You definitely could not hear your neighbors like at other cheap hotels. The sun set very late, and rose early, so the curtains were very useful. Waking up to the cool breeze from the open window in the morning, and hearing the DART go by was comforting beyond words.
On the second day, the water was shut off. I thought it was because they were trying to cut back on water use, but it turned out they had serious plumbing and electrical issues of some sort. I was unable to flush the toilet, wash my hands, things like that. It was an inconvenience, but I guess it would not happen again for a good while.
Check out was easy, no hidden charges, nothing like that. They took credit cards, and the business seems to be on the up and up. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling to Dublin, and wants to experience the seaside for themselves. read more
