The patio has some tables covered by a large awning and some with umbrellas. We sat under the awning, which was good since it started raining while we were finishing our meal. Music was playing, but it was mostly just us outside, so nice and private. Our servers were nice, and quick to check on allergens. They have menus in English and French. We ordered the special (app, drink, dessert), but couldn't eat it due to allergies, so canceled that order. We also got two mains: veal with mushrooms and carbonara truffle pizza. The veal came with a mix of potato fries (shoestring), fried zucchini, and fried onions (both very thin). It was good, maybe 4*, but worth the order. The pizza did not have truffles. They claimed it had oil when we asked, but then offered to get us mushrooms (grilled, they were good) and then said truffles were on back order. They then took off some money from the bill. Lesson? The flatbread pizza is good, just don't splurge on the truffle one. We also had drinks (I recommend the sangria) and tried the trademarked Bread Bar®. Bar was odd (sliced bread from the store with 4 kinds of butter and a grill to warm it) but fun to do one time as a novelty. Bill was about $115 with the comped amount. Come here, sit by the river, and relax as part of your bill and you'll enjoy yourself. Don't come expecting perfect food though!

She was sooo nice and the service was quick. She got my "I would love another drink" queue and overall was just nice to us. For appetizers I had the meatball and Pooh had the Parmesan fondue. Both were delicious For the main meal I had cannelloni and Pooh had lasagna. Both were delicious and tender. Pooh had a bolonaise sauce and my cannelloni were bathed in a rosé sauce - just scrumptious We washed everything down with a vintage bottle of Sangiovese which paired well with the pasta For dessert we had each a Gio coffee and a chocolate mi-cuit which is like a lava cake. It was very chocolaty and moist and and and just delicious Our server was delightful, friendly and very sweet and the ambience was romantic Just an excellent evening out.

My pizza had tomato sauce, cheese and some Italian sausage slices. Tomato sauce, cheese and crust were perfect. Not my ideal pizza selection but I didn't want to add on more cost to a 9 inch overpriced pizza. This is a nice place to cozy up with a nice relaxed romantic atmosphere. Menu is extravagant and I wouldn't mind going back one day to try their gastronomic menu.

It reminds be of Bravo Pizzeria in Trois-Rivieres - halfway between Montreal and Quebec City - where it's nothing fancy but they make pizzas, pastas, (club) sandwiches, and Greek food in respectable portions and at fair prices, served up with their small town folksiness and friendliness. Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts is sort of a strategic place to eat, though closer to Mont-Tremblant and the national park than to Montreal. My go-to place used to be Ristorante del Popolo. Sadly, it's no longer in operation. Nearby Il Vigneto is a little bit more upscale, and darker and more intimate inside. Mikael is the one the locals go to to get pizzas (or have them delivered), to eat in, or to hang out. I had the Greek souvlaki dinner platter. It was plentiful and delicious. I could see ordering it again. The service was very amicable. I learned something that differs from my high school French books. When someone brings something to your table or does something for you, you would say "merci." The textbook response you'd expect is "de rien," which means 'it's nothing.' What I've seen is that, in Quebec, the response is typically "bienvenue," which isn't exactly "you're welcome," but is more likely to be seen inscribed at a port of entry into a French speaking country or province, or at reception in a hotel, and would simply mean "welcome." You already know I'll be giving Restaurant Mikael 4 stars. While it's Quebec, and there's a beautiful lake - Lac des Sables - nearby, it reminded me of a visit to Stayton, Oregon. There, I walked into a store, bought some things, got back into the car, and told a friend I thought I had just walked onto the set of Heart's "Dreamboat Annie." (An inside joke was born.) This place is sort of similar. The locals tend to congregate along this street, and near the seasonal outdoor seating in front of the restaurant, and smoke and talk smack. Thus, this place could be a jumping off spot for penning something along the lines of Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner" or, again, Heart's "Dreamboat Annie" ... catapulted forward a few decades and set in a mountain hamlet in Quebec. That said, I could assign the 4 stars in tandem with these 4 words: "Dreamboat Annie du jour!" If plentiful, casual, reliable, and properly priced grub is your thing, Restaurant Mikael in this scenic little town could be for you. It will not be right next the 15 - Autoroute des Laurentides - and its adjacent big box retail, but all the way into Sainte-Agathe's historic downtown and near the lake. If the locals keep going back, and I keep going back, that must mean that it works well.
