Every time I come to visit, I have to find her in the game room or any of the other social areas. She is in a wheelchair due to M.S. The staff helps her with everything she needs. We are so pleased with the community and care my Mom has and is receiving at Eskaton at Granite Bay. A year and a half ago, our family decided to move Mom, who is 102, into Eskaton Lodge. It was a challenging decision, but we are now blessed to have made that difficult decision. Over the year and a half, my Mom has been able to make friends, enjoy the many activities and most importantly, gain confidence in the care staff that provides her medications, check in with her on a regular basis and provide for her daily needs. We relocated our Uncle 6 1/2 years ago from Southern California to be closer to our family and chose Eskaton Granite Bay for him. We cannot say enough, about how great this choice was for him and all of us. The administration, staff, care workers, med techs and servers have been nothing less than amazing on so many levels. Our Uncle started out independent living and progressed through the years to the upper levels (something that was an important part of choosing Eskaton GB as we didn't want to have to move him again if needed later in his life). We sadly lost our Uncle this past May and through the guidance of Eskaton and implementing Hospice Care, we can't say enough about the compassion, love and support we received from the entire staff through his last days. My parents moved to Eskaton, Granite Bay 9 months ago. I had looked extensively in our area before they moved. What stood out to me was the staff, the care of the residents, and what was being provided for the cost. This place is among the more costly assisted living places in the area, and worth every penny in my opinion. Pamela and Sarah run the residential move ins and anything to do with the contracts, etc. They were instrumental in giving us all the data we needed to decide whether Eskaton was for us. I can't say enough on how smooth the move in was because of Pamela and Sarah, and how friendly and helpful all staff were in every respect while doing so. They are always around to lend a hand, help with questions, or just chat. I have not personally met the director, Kim, but my Mom has been so impressed with how she has handled a few requests, and even offered extra help when it was needed. 9 months in and the staff have continued to be helpful in all respects. Dina, the activity director, has been instrumental in putting on so many wonderful events, holidays, and monthly themes, that my husband and I look forward to being a part of them. They go all out on the food, decorations, and entertainment. I am looking forward to the mother-daughter charcuterie/wine pairing happening for Mother's Day next weekend. Family is invited to participate in many events, and we enjoy getting to know the residents and spending time with my parents onsite in an environment that brings them joy, while not having to travel if they don't want to. Outside events are available as well, in the Eskaton van, in addition to doctor's appointments, and weekly excursions to shops, etc. I am amazed that Dina is always looking for more and more ways to incorporate the requests of residents, and she does so, going even beyond expectations for special events. I have heard that most places do not provide good food in these establishments. Although I wouldn't call the food always 5 stars, I will say that Eskaton does provide very tasty dishes and many choices of healthy dishes, that have to meet requirements of the state, while being flexible to meet the many health needs of the residents. Their bistro menu is unusual in that you can get a choice of food off of a long list of food anytime of day during their dining hours, so no one goes hungry. Do you have an appointment and can't make it for the lunch hours, then you can order from this menu at a different time. And many of the dishes are very delicious and restaurant quality. Especially those served for events. They take allergies and health food needs very seriously, and I am impressed with how they accommodate the residents with their food needs. The head Chef and other chefs can be seen in the dining room and are so friendly and care about the residents. The head Chef has worked with my Mom and others on their specific diets, to make sure that they have enough choices for their particular health needs, even stocking specific items if requested, and within their ability. The reception area has so many wonderful women in that area, too many to name, but each so special in how they greet and help my parents. It's not only a reception area, but a place to chat and get a hug or help if needed. They are first to be notified in case of emergency, and they respond quickly. They assist in so many ways, too numerous to mention. Kristy is the head of the health area, and we appreciate all the help she has given us when we needed it. The many aids and caregivers are friendly and provide many types of help, depending on the need of the resident. My Mom has remarked that they have become part of the Eskaton family and she is establishing a great relationship with those that care for her. I could go on an on about how pretty Eskaton is, and how safe, and beautiful the surrounding area is. It does not have a pool, or golf, or other amenities that another place may have, but this is not something my parents want or need. This is an assisted living place, that also provides for independent living, and provides the services that many residents appreciate. read more

My 93-year-old mom has been at Eskaton Granite Bay for 2-1/2 years. We had to move her out because she needed memory care. The staff at Eskaton has been wonderful to my mother, even when she didn't appreciate it. They are kind and patient and go the extra mile to make the residents happy. Kristy Ashley, the care coordinator goes over and above making sure all of the residents are taken care of. Eileen would call my mom every day to make sure she got breakfast because she knew mom didn't like coming down to the dining room. My mother had a very bad fall, and they worked with us to give her the care she needed (which was outside the usual offerings) to see if she would get better. Unfortunately, she didn't and we had to move her to memory care. My mother started out as independent living and as her needs changed, she was able to transition into assisted living. Kim Delgado runs a great community and has staffed it with wonderful people. The dining room attendants know the residents by name and can help them choose what to have for dinner based on what they know of their likes and dislikes. If my mother didn't need memory care, I would have been very happy to have her live out her life here. read more

She had just lost her husband of 72 years and had lived in her home for 62 of those years. Big transition for her to not only move out of her city but her home also. My father lived there for the last fifteen months of his life. When he first moved there he was classified as independent living. One of the things I liked was that once he would transition to assisted living he would not have to move. He could stay in the same apartment and simply get a higher level of care. Prior to my dad moving there my wife and I toured every independent and assisted living facility in the area. We narrowed it down to two and then showed them to my father for the final decision. We spoke to staff, residents and family members. We looked at the activities they offered. The food, the cleanliness. We felt very good about this facility. After living at Eskaton for several months dad fell and broke his back. After that he was an assisted living resident although he resumed most activities. Eventually he got several bouts of pneumonia and succumbed to it last month, passing away at age 93. No matter what level of care he needed, and it changed often, he received it. Whatever was needed, medically, dietary, general care was provided. No staff member walked by without saying hello. They listened to him, befriended him and just plain took care of him at the highest level. Many of us are facing the similar situation. We can't be there for our parents 24 hours a day and we need to trust someone else. It is a scary situation. So many terrible stories about facilities. We chose right. You just could not possibly beat Eskaton Granite Bay. If this sounds like a commercial, trust me it is an honest review . I would do a commercial for them in a heartbeat. They were so great and my father loved it there. No, it is not cheap. None of these places are. But the peace of mind we had was well worth it. read more

A close family friend is staying here. We came to visit her for a few days and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff at Eskaton was very chipper and upbeat. We had lunch and it was a beautiful setting. An open dining cafe style area, not like a gross cafeteria at all. Big vaulted ceilings and huge Windows to look out at all the pretty flowers and rose bushes. The rooms are cute and they have lots of events going on. This is an expensive place, so one wonders what they get for their money. Well they don't have a gourmet cook, I had the homemade macaroni and cheese and it tasted right out of a box. Then I went looking for the swimming pool. After all Sacramento is very toasty in the summertime. No pool. Aren't pools great for exercise and wonderful for relaxation? Then each room has a dorm sized refrigerator which does not make ice. There are no ice machines to be found. Then I took a stroll around the outside of the place and I can tell you they don't spend the money on keeping the landscaping up. There are sections where landscape cloth is torn and an old mattress propped up against a shed. Talk about needing some work! Then I was told that there are not enough caregivers for all of the residents. Somebody at the top is making a really big paycheck. Two good things about the place are, the employees are very nice and the dining room is comfortable. read more

My mother lived at Eskaton Lodge Granite Bay for 4 years and it was a fantastic experience for our whole family. Management truly does want to help give your loved ones the best accommodations and works to do everything they can to ensure the best for their residents. The staff always greeted us with a smile and a warm hello and paid special attention to my mom. She felt important and like she mattered to everyone that works there. The facility is beautiful and has lots of natural light coming in with a lovely courtyard for you or the residents pets to enjoy. My mother's favorite part of Eskaton was the beauty salon. As a Senior Care Manager in the area, my only disappointment is that whenever I have a client that would be a great fit for this building, they are full!! I am surprised Eskaton doesn't have a better rating. My mother lived there for the last year of her life and really enjoyed it. She always told me about how friendly the staff is and everyone has a good attitude. We would eat in the cafeteria but it felt more like a cafe. The dining staff would go above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed, my mom was always picky about her food. Karen and Cierra were her favorite waitresses. I want to thank all of you for your hard work. I know it is a hard job being with the residents until the end. I will miss seeing all of your bright faces. I'm an employee at the Eskaton Lodge Granite Bay. I have been with the company for seven going on eight years. Eskaton has given to me so much in so many ways. I'll only mention a few reasons why I chose to stay with Eskaton for all these years and I'll start with my favorite. I started at Eskaton Lodge Cameron Park CA, a few months after I graduated Pharmacy Technician classes at a local Sacramento trade school, which I obtained my California State pharmacy technician license. I applied to many local pharmacies in & around the greater Sacramento area. I had very low success rate on obtaining a job due to my minimal experience in the retail pharmacy world. I then got a break and saw an add online about an Eskaton in Cameron Park that was hiring for medication Technicians. I called, set up an interview and got the job within due process. At first I didn't know if this career path was the rite decision, only because what I thought a pharmacy technician position in my head was completely different from what I was doing on a daily basis at Eskaton. I started as a caregiver to learn the residents names, apartment numbers, and personal traits of each resident before I would be promoted to a medication cart and obtain the responsibility of a Lead medication technician. Eskaton for me, now that I look back on it, filled a void I had in my life. I never really spent much time with my grandparents growing up and I feel working with the elder residents at Eskaton helped me feel like I got back what I really never experienced with my own family. I made so many precious bonds and loving relationships not only with the residents, but with their friends and families as well. The staff I worked with on a daily basis also were a great factor why I'm still with Eskaton to this day. Currently as of January 2017 I took on another position as the move in coordinator at the Granite Bay Eskaton Lodge, and feel like it was truly a great time to transition and to take on another aspect of the Eskaton community. Eskaton has taught me the true meaning of customer service and personal Care. I met many people and have shared many life stories with my resident's and my own personal life. Eskaton has so much meaning for me personally, but the main reason I'm so grateful is because 6 years ago I met a girl a fellow staff member who is the most loving, caring, passionate, and overall great person, and today currently I can call my wife and love of my life. Dad and his wife have been residents of Eskaton Lodge Granite Bay for eight years. The family has jokingly said the Eskaton is a cruise ship that never leaves port. All their needs have been met and exceeded. They were told from the start that they were to treat it like home. To them it has indeed been their home since day one. The staff has become like family. Their kindness and empathy made the transition from independent to assisted living easy for them. The availability of transportation made it possible for Dad to get where he wanted to go after he could no longer drive. Dad's garden and birdfeeders were his pride and joy. They are right outside the dining room for all the residents to enjoy. Eskaton never said he could not have them but encouraged it instead. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff in all areas of the facility. They know each resident by their first name and are committed to making their time there a very nurturing one. They know exactly what they want for breakfast or if they drink decaf, how they want "their" bed made, and what their families are doing. The list of their kindnesses is limitless. They are truly angels. We have always felt very secure in knowing that Dad and Jean were in the caring arms of Kim Delgado and her remarkable staff. read more

My brother-in-laws mother lived here for a while till the rent became too much to keep up with. This place says they offer 5 star experience when it comes to care, but only a handful of people there actually care for the elders that live/visit there. The care staff shows no urgency when it comes to care, and I've been informed by family that if elders have avcidents, the care staff will leave it to dry until housekeeping get to it which in my opinion is neglect. My brother-in-law informed me that they care not for the plight of their staff, underappreciated and their words fall upon deaf and ignorant ears, I advise anyone whom is considering leaving their loved ones with this specific location to reconsider. Walking in is an immediate deception, if you look with your heart you see that majority of these elders don't feel loved or appreciated. Only a small handful of the staff (none of them being in a managerial position) actually give a damn about these folks. They pay too damn much for what they're given in terms of food and shelter. Food could be conpared to school lunch food. This is not a complaint on the chef or servers, but in the product they most likely order. read more
