Spring is in the air and I've set aside some time to do some home improvements. From time to time I require a dumpster, in Escondido this is where you come. You can call, but I was over at RCP Block, so I walked-in. This is not my first visit, but I'll never forget the frustration of pulling into the wrong driveway to park. This location's parking for customers is only accessible via the west entrance. It's marked with a green sign (pictured). If you're familiar with the area, this entrance is closest to the exit for the dump. There are only three parking spaces, which is plenty.... You can visit this office to drop off small appliance batteries, sharps, and order services (like dumpsters). Calling-in for services is probably much easier than coming to the office, like I wrote earlier, I was right across the street so I decided to visit instead. The customer service has always been great! Whether I am calling or walking-in to conduct business, I've always been happy with the outcome. They have a great front office staff who are always pleasant and are quick with information. Over the years I think I've ordered about four dumpsters... drop-off and pick-up have always gone smooth. Only once did I get a sub-par dumpster. It had a rusted out floor with a 2' hole, and it was pointed out by the driver upon delivery ... I was doing yard waste removal, so I put down some wood planks and a nasty tarp I was also discarding over the hole and made due. At the time (over COVID) there was a long wait to get dumpsters so I wasn't about to refuse delivery. These days there is about a week wait and the dumpsters have been in much better shape. The delivery drivers for the dumpsters I've ordered have been experts in placement of these long cumbersome shipping container sized dumpsters I've been ordering. When bringing a dumpster to a residential neighborhood with minimal room to maneuver and many obstacles like curbs, yards, cars, etc. I've always been pleased with how they can angle the dumpster just-right across my short driveway, while obeying city ordinances to keep them off the street and sidewalks. Escondido Disposal is....well...garbage! When I first moved into my home there were several sturdy trashcans that came with the house. They were already well used but solid enough. Anyway, over the years these loyal cans eventually broke down. Ordering their replacements was easy enough. However, when those replacements were delivered the new trashcans were noticeable smaller and were made of flimsy construction. They held about 25% less capacity but that only tells half of the story. Because these new cans had a slimmer profile (tall and thin) they become very unstable when the can is at full capacity. It's easy for them to tip over. And guess what, seeing that their smaller in volume that means they're always at full capacity. So basically I had a 96 gallon trashcan and they gave me a 64 gallon trashcan as a replacement. But wait, while they didn't lower my trash bill they had the audacity to charge me $5 more a month to rent if I wanted a second small trashcan..Basically billing me like the cable company did when I wanted a second cable box in my room.. Most companies try to streamline their process because in the end it saves money. Not at Escondido Disposal. By shrinking can sizes and thus requiring each house to get a second can it means twice the work for the garbage truck drivers. This means longer pickup times and more expensive truck maintenence more often. BTW they also did this with the recycling trashcans. I was forced to start putting some food in our rarely used green trashcan (green waste and food items) so that the regular cans didn't have to be filled to capacity. So now I have 5 trashcans out front when I used to only require 2... I guess that's called logical under "city math"... Hats off to the garbage truck drivers who do their job well. The idiots running Escondido Disposal are making their jobs more difficult and inefficient. read more

Hadn't been to the dump in years..had a bunch of stuff I wanted gone so I rented a cargo van and loaded it up with everything and grabbed my trusty "free household clean-up coupon" and headed over. Line was long and slow but you have to expect that. If they allowed everyone to rush in it would be a disaster and many accidents. It's dangerous in there so always be comfortable driving the vehicle you are bringing as you have to maneuver in and out of some spots. Sadly when I made it in I saw that my coupon is not good on any days except Saturday and Sunday - not during the weekdays. It's now a flat $75 to dump a load of household items. All in all it was a good trip and you have to respect the place as it's about as organized as can be for what it is. Good customer service. read more

The fact that Escondido Disposal is open at all, let alone on Saturday is a miracle - the alternative is not having an option (Waste Management doesn't offer anything), or paying $300 for 1800-Junk for the same amount of waste if not less - no thank you. My husband and I have used Escondido Disposal three times already for huge dumps of trash give that we moved and are now working bit by bit on a home remodel. The service is straight forward. Leaving one star because I can't leave zero. These people are very unprofessional like it bothers them for you to dump your trash there. Not to mention they're now charging $90 for you to drive in and dump your own trash at their facility up from 55 just a few years ago it seems a bit ridiculous given the fact that we are bringing the trash to them, and unloading it. I really don't get how $90 for a self dump is justifiable. And for their attitudes, they seem to take the saying you are what you eat seriously because they are garbage. read more

I had a great experience here. My only caveat is the expense...cost me $25 to dump an old chair. Dumping here is by weight, and I could have dumped up to 800 pounds of junk for that price. Next time, I'll clean a little more to make the trip worthwhile. Okay why am I a fan of this place? One reason. Free coupon for residents. Every season you get a chance to get a one free dump pass, some restrictions on items apply. I had a huge pile in my sideyard and garage piled up after a years worth of housework. So we got my dads truck filled it to the brim and took it on over. It was a very easy process, there was a line but everyone was quick and efficient. IN and out. They have a very lengthy introduction and them I am promised to get to talk to a representative, after that the same instruction starts again and finally an announcement that I can leave my number to get a call back, I needed my information now and not God knows when. Not much to say about the actual dump: Smelly, dirty, serves it's purpose. We've been in our new house for nearly 2 weeks (hooray!), and our trash pick-up guys are super nice. They even drive all the way up our loooong driveway to empty our cans. They don't have to, but told us they don't mind since they have ample space for the truck. I asked for two pieces of furniture to be picked up (recliner and regular-sized sofa). They picked up one of my pieces and what I assume was someone else's a day late, and left my sofa. After a week of realizing they're not coming back for the sofa, I called for a refund after having witnessed the couch get ransacked over the past week. At this point, I cannot safely dispose of my couch. I THOUGHT they were going to dispose of the couch after the manager said he would drive out himself to take a look and have his guys remove it. This is after they agreed to issue a partial refund, which I did not agree to. He literally saw the couch there and called me to tell me that my furniture had been picked up. I explained to him that the couch that once was mine is literally sitting out there still, and he continued to say that there isn't a way for his guys to get the couch out of the dumpster area. I'm not sure how they think it got in there, but it can be carried out of the doorway to the dumpster area. There are two entrances in the dumpster area. One is tighter than the other since it has a dumpster partially blocking the way, but the other entrance is nice and clear. They refuse to grant a full refund after such a terrible service and also refuse to acknowledge their lack of/terrible service. Escondido Disposal should rectify this situation, understand their customers' complaints after receiving terrible service, and pick up the couch ASAP. read more

What a dump! Well, actually it's a transfer station that collects the trash before it's hauled off to the landfill or to be recycled. I stopped here today for the first time to do a free household hazardous waste disposal. I had a few gallons of old antifreeze to get rid of. Forgot to put trash cans out the other day. Called Escondido Disposal to see if they would be willing to come by on a courtesy visit to pick up my trash. The lady on the phone was super nice, and super easy to work with. She got me on their schedule and they came out same-day. Very grateful! Also - I have been to the dump facility plenty of times. They are always nice and are pretty organized at directing traffic on busy days. One day I went and they were close to closing time. They advised me that if I was not done by closing time that there would be a $50 charge... I thought I could make it. My son and I worked really hard to get everything unloaded, but as hard as we worked we were 15 minutes pass the deadline. I expected to pay the $50 fee. They told me that it appeared we working as fast as we could, and they could tell we had a lot of stuff - so they had mercy :) Super cool people even after I kept them late. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Too bad they can monopolize areas - your stuck with the incompetence.

First let me say that the guys who pick up at my house are great, we love them. But the actual dump facility is a different story. I swear they gave me post-traumatic stress, I'm now dump-phobic. About a month ago I went and there was a long line waiting to dump. So they directed my dually to another bay. Great, I thought, maybe I can get in to dump sooner. No such luck. First, the other trucks in the long line dumped, then they moved all the trash inside around and down for about ten minutes. Problem was they directed the front of my truck inside of the facility. So for probably 45 minutes, on a hot day, I had to sit inside with the air full of mist mixed with stinking airborne trash particles. It was a hot day, so when I closed my windows, the heat made me feel like I was going to pass out. When I opened them, the stinky trash mist mixture permeated my sinuses. I got so sick I could barely keep from throwing up. Took me three days to clear my sinuses and get rid of the nausea and headache. Now I am terrified of the dump, but I have to go again. We have large properties so lots of debris. Tried ordering a dumpster, but the small one costs twice as much as the dump run, and holds about half of what I can pack into my dually. So afraid they will trap me in "stinky can't breathe hell" again. This place is awful. All the women in the check-in booth are sour and unpleasant. The way they trapped me inside the building that time makes me feel like I could have died in there from the disgusting trash-air soup I had to breathe and how long I was inside there. I will have to completely agree with Dave T's review. We pay our bill through EDI, worst customer service I've ever experienced, and by the manager specifically. I have brought Escondido Disposal $1000's of additional business having them drop off an extra dumpster every month or so. One day the woman on the phone (Isabel or Isabella) tells me that I'm not actually located within their region and that we pay our bills through Edco. I insisted that something must be wrong because we pay our bills every month through EDI. She then, once again insisted that I did not and forever turned me away from their services. This was done because they make enough profit in certain areas now so they could care less if you're not in one of their more so monopolized zones. What's worse is this was done by their manager, this company will continue to reveal their greed. Where they could of expanded upon their business and brought more people jobs who need it, without having to provide the worst customer service possible to the rest of us.
