At the time of this review, it was $35/person, which seems fair for the experience and the work, which I'm sure went into creating the space. Google Maps directs you to the Safeway parking lot. I won't give too many spoilers - we did the Storyteller and it had three rooms to "solve". The staff are wonderful too. The price is $45 per person. Located in Fremont.

Have to buy something at the nearby supermarket to get validated parking? Not sure. - Wish they allowed each of us a prop to hold for the photo at the end. Good thing I brought my own.

The Vault was sort of in beta, so there were things expectedly not quite working, and I won't fault the company for this. Overall, the puzzles were interesting/fun/dramatic to interact with, which is pretty great. That said... I don't love linear puzzle rooms, and this one was seriously that. We had 6? people for this room, but there was really only one puzzle available at a time (the one time there were two puzzles, the "meta" of them was brute-force-able, which means it wasn't even useful to do). I think you could count the number of puzzles total to be something like... 10 puzzles, which is a disappointing number especially with the number of people in the room. It makes me feel like they spent all their efforts into the fancy decor and flashy lights and ...story?, rather than puzzles. If you do come to do this escape room and you've done some before, I'd recommend a smaller number of people. It was generally obvious which puzzle was the one that needed doing; there was very little search-the-room so not much else for anyone else in the group while the single puzzle was being worked on. (And because the puzzles were so physically interactive, it wasn't really like multiple people could work on it at once.) Staff was friendly enough, though the front desk was usually absent. They do have a tiny photo booth closet which I think is fun! And they have a large parking lot shared with the fitness(?) next door so you don't have to worry about parking in downtown Redmond. I got tricked by the fitness and thought it wasn't there, but it is.

I trained to compete, not to earn belts. As I've gotten older, I'm not old enough to complain, but let's just say I know my body a lot better now. I always thought I knew a lot about Taekwondo because of how long I had trained, but my journey has taught me how much there is still to learn. My first major change came with Master J of Tiger J Kim in Houston. (Non Kukkiwon school) I have tremendous respect for him. He helped me transition from ITF to WT and, more importantly, helped me get my life together. Here is where I also restarted my belts. He used Taekwondo as a platform to change lives. He would tell me to show up, train, and then talk to me like a mentor while reinforcing the principles and tenets of martial arts. He talked to me like a kid sometimes, but honestly, it was something I desperately needed at the time. Because of him, I developed a completely different approach to martial arts, became happier, and even grew closer to my faith, despite that never being his intention. I never earned my black belt under Master J due to military order, but looking back, I believe God had better plans. After nine months of military training, I moved from Houston to Everett and wanted to get back into Taekwondo. I had already started my transition from ITF to WT with Master J, so I wanted to continue learning WT. I stumbled across Y.S. Lee Taekwondo without doing much research, something just felt right. I have no regrets about contacting this school. Master Lee has shown me just how much I didn't know. I've trained at enough schools to develop a good sense of what makes a school genuine. I've seen schools become too profit-driven, and I've seen others that feel more like short term daycare or simply focus on teaching techniques and moving students through belts. I believe that if you do what is right and genuinely focus on helping people, everything else follows. Master Lee seems to understand that better than any instructor I've encountered and share the same philosophical approach, some in which came from when I was under Master J. Other masters may show you how to do something and hand out belts. Master Lee goes further and DEMONSTRATES the why and makes sure the students are ready to move up. He has opened my eyes to the history, reasons, deeper philosophy, and tradition behind TKD and the form movements. It's so much more than a performance or learning how to kick/punch. Master Lee taught me that there are centuries of tradition, discipline, and study behind day to day practice. I always ask questions outside of the class when I didn't understand or I wanted to challenge my understanding. Master Lee encourages it more than any Master I've seen. He encourages questions, builds on curiosity, and doesn't just demonstrate what I know. He demonstrates what I don't understand. That is the difference! Like Master J, he sees Taekwondo as a way of life and a tool for improving the person, not just the martial artist. I believe when you teach this way, Self-defense becomes a byproduct of that process and it truly does, but you must put in the work for your studies. I'm now working toward the black belt I never got when I was younger, and I'm grateful that I didn't because now I have the opportunity to pursue it under through a Kukkiwon-recognized school with YS Lee. I have lots of respect for Master J for helping me on this path, and I'm equally grateful that life brought me here to continue it. If you're looking for someone who will simply teach you how to kick, punch, do forms, earn belts, there are plenty of options. If you want an instructor who will challenge what you think you know, teach the history and philosophy behind TKD, encourage your questions, and help you become a better martial artist and person, I highly recommend Master Lee and Y.S. Our pottery class was on March 29th, we came back to paint on April 12th, and then picked everything up on April 17th. It honestly felt like such a fun extended experience getting to come back and see everything through. The painting portion was super enjoyable too. They offer a variety of glazes, some classic colors included at no extra cost, plus a few specialty options for a small fee. My fiancé chose the "Safari" glaze (just $1 extra), which had these cool glass pieces that melt in the kiln and create such a unique pattern. Definitely worth trying if you want something a little different! Pickup was easy overall. My only small suggestion would be to clarify the pickup hours on the card that's handed out after painting. Google hours seem to reflect member hours, while the hours posted on the door are different. When I arrived, they technically weren't open yet (my mistake, I'm sorry!), but the person at the front desk was super kind and still helped me find my pieces, which I greatly appreciated. You can even occasionally enjoy the ice cream man when he stops by. There's a dog park which is very popular. There's even a road which you can drive down to the river bank when gate is open. Lots of nearby parking and paths are stroller/wheelchair friendly.

One month in to the new Summit Everett so it's time for a review!…read more First off I'd like to say that I am very happy Summit Everett is here and I'll be continuing my membership with them for the foreseeable future. Opening a rock gym in downtown Everett is not an easy venture and it's very cool that it exists. The facility is very nice. It is clean, well lit, in good order and with 24hr access it's got all the right stuff to make a gym attractive. Whether you are climbing or using the regular weights and treadmill its a very good space. Since their move they transitioned to just bouldering from both bouldering and top rope and I think this was a good move. It makes the walls in the gym more accessible to everyone and can introduce more people to climbing. I won't call bouldering an intro to top rope like some folks but it is easier to get into and I think this switch was the right move. So what could be improved? A quick note about me so you can tell where I'm coming from. I'm at Summit for the rock walls and haven't used the weights or tread mills. I'm a climber since I was young and have an ankle handicap since birth. This means I'm about a 5.12-/v5 climber and won't excel too much beyond that. Including Summit Everett I have climbed four gyms in the PNW both bouldering and ropes and those skill levels are pretty consistent. At Summit I cap at a v4, somewhere between their yellow and blue bands. Summit sets hard. This makes it a very difficult place for beginners. The Vermin scale has a lot of wiggle room so it isn't that they aren't setting according to scale it's that within the scale they set about as hard as they can. You will not find a VB route here. If you are coming from anywhere else in the area kick your climbing level down a notch. My experience is that Summit is also largely a test of physical prowess. Technique and problems solving are not as stressed. The routes meet their difficulty level based on whether you have the strength for a dynamic movement, can grip a hold, or have the reach to progress. I have yet to fail to complete a route at because I didn't think through it correctly or didn't have the technique. These challenges are as important to a skilled climber as the raw physical. Lastly, more wall space. The more options to climb the better. The weekly updates are good but more options would be awesome. This is a big ask for the recently reopened gym so I realize this likely isn't something that can be quickly fixed but I wanted to put it out there because I think it would be very beneficial. Overall, I'm very happy that. Summit Everett is here and I'm looking forward to my time there and seeing the gym grow! Thank you Summit!
