It was one my bucket list to do an escape room, so my husband, father, friend and I went here today and we chose the "Sunken Submarine " adventure. I had envisioned putting all of my Nancy Drew detective skills to use and amaze everyone by solving the puzzle in record time. That did not happen, lol! It was a very humbling experience, but fun! We had a horrible experience and feel like we wasted $300. Many times, precious minutes were lost as we asked for help, and had to wait for our guide finally notice and help provide clues. Equipment was also not functioning correctly without requiring a reset, which we could never have known without being told. We've done many escape rooms in the past, and never had issues like this. Very fun, challenging escape room. As theater enthusiasts, we loved the theme. The room itself had some wear and tear to it. A couple of the puzzle pieces were not functional after we solved them. Once the monitor noticed, he would just tell us the solution. The overall game play was slow at first, but it moved along once we got going. We definitely needed some clues from the monitor. Not my first escape room, and won't be my last. This one is conveniently located at the mall. We were walk-ins for the room called The Dig. We were teamed with 6 other walk-ins. The 8 of us solved the room, with a few clues, with 10 minutes to spare. As puzzles go, these were on par with most escape rooms I've been to. The waiting room is modern and clean, some puzzles to work on while you wait. The staff running the show were polite and informed. All the rooms looked pretty cool. I want to try the submarine next time. The Dig is based on a Egyptian, divinci code, Indiana Jonesish theme. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't too hard that we couldn't reach victory. It was a lot of fun. Highly suggest if your looking to fill an hour with some fun and together time. What better way to spend time with people than getting locked in a room for an hour? read more

Had a better experience when we went during the day. But when we came in at night for their 9pm game, we were told that all the 9pm rooms were fully booked last minute. Before we walked in, we saw online that there were 10 spots available for these rooms. We waited past 9pm and the "fully booked" groups didn't even show up. If they didn't want us playing the game, they could've just said so, instead of lying that the rooms were booked. read more

This was my first time visiting this place. It was fun!! My friend made the reservation to the most difficult room with four players. No spoiler alerts here! Did this with my family (two teens!) and we had a great time. The kids had done an escape room before with their friends, but this was the first time for my husband and me. We were able to solve the bank heist with only a few clues about half way through. We all loved the experience and look forward doing another one again soon. Got here right at 3:00pm on Tuesday. Luckily, the place was empty. My party of 3 had our pick of rooms, and we chose the most challenging one: the Submarine. Carley led us down the hall, passing the other escape room options, and allowed us to peak inside when I asked if we could see what they look like. Pretty cool set ups, the largest can hold up to 12 people, but I was excited to see what the Sub had in store. Before taking the plunge to the ocean floor, Carley gave us the run down, including the premise and goal of the escape, and that she would be watching us for the hour and giving us hints to solve the puzzles when we got frustrated (which we did). The room itself didn't feel air conditioned, and got warmer as we solved puzzle after puzzle. The clues were fun to piece together, though my group and I were a little let down that (spoiler alert) much of the second half of the room required computer based puzzles, rather than performing tactile tasks. We failed to escape, but we were only 2 clues away from completing the room. Not too shabby for our first time. Carley took a lovely photo of us, which was shared digitally, to commemorate the occasion. This is an exciting hour-long activity, but hard to justify spending $30 per person on it (and I hear it is more expensive on the weekend). Super Fun Way to Spend an Hour! There were 6 of us and most of us had never done an escape room before. We chose The Bank Heist, and found it moderately challenging, though we were able to escape in 48 minutes! We had to ask for a couple clues but were otherwise very proud of our teamwork and problem-solving abilities. I took my leadership team for an afternoon team building activity. There were 10 of us and this was the only game we could find that could accommodate this big of a group. We reserved our room well in advance of our visit and paid in advance. We were promptly greeted when we arrived and we all signed our waivers and were taken to the room and given instructions for the puzzle. We did the bank heist room. The puzzle was not easy and it was fun seeing how different members of our team problem solved, We did get out of the room earlier than the 60 minute time limit with the help of a few clues. We had a great time and I would definitely visit again. It is a little pricey, but no more so than any of the other Escape Rooms in town. read more

Let me put it this way, as a franchise escape room, you expect more out of what they offer. There's tons of fantastic local escape rooms. Bust Out is one of my favorites, and although they may not have the money to do extravagant designs like Escape The Room does, their unparalleled customer service and ability to create an experience blows ETR out of the water. I've done about 18 or so escape rooms now from California, Colorado, and New Mexico. I'd say I'm at an intermediate level at them, but have yet to fail one with the group I go with. General escape rooms ride like a bell curve. You should be able to solve the first 1-3 puzzles fairly easily to get to the advanced puzzles. This usually entails the first 10 minutes of the game. Then, the next 4-8 puzzles or so are going to take up the most of your time, the next 20-30 minutes I'd say, and that's where clues and help from the game master are supposed to come in. The last minutes are usually pretty quick, as they're designed to get the adrenaline pumping and excitement flowing to get out of the room. This format is used at Bust Out and various escape rooms in California and Colorado. Escape The Room fails with their game masters and customer service. I do not believe they're tending to each game personally, and I believe they left our group in the weeds for a good 15 minutes. We continually asked if our objects were in a correct sequence, and no answer would ever come. We all joined together to ask for a clue, and no clue was given. It was so frustrating, I had to leave the room to go find the game master to ask them to please pay attention to us. The designs of the rooms are fantastic and look great. However, little sublte "x marks the spot" clues that are hidden in dark corners are really not the best way to utilize the room. Not only that, there were some number locks and key codes that we attempted to enter but the locks wouldn't open. We continually asked if the code was correct for the lock we had, but again no answer to the question. The codes were right, by the way, but after failing to open the lock 3-4 times we disregarded the codes we had. Who knows why, but the locks decided not to work for us that day, because the game master entered the same code and it opened immediately for them. All in all, we were very dissatisfied with the service. We did beat the room with 2 minutes left to spare, but when we told the game master that we were unsatisfied with his performance and the amount of help we didn't receive, he didn't seem to be too phased by it. He did say something along the lines of, "I will do better next time", but unfortunately for us there won't be one. read more

For a first time at an escape room it went really well! We purchased a groupon and went on Sunday evening. It was perfect because we were the only ones in the Submarine room. I cant give away hints but it was pretty hard to do with only 2 people. I think we would've finished faster if there would've been at least 4 of us. Our game master was friendly, and very helpful! Some of the clues are easy to do but it depends on how you think about. For the most part they do need to be done in order. There were several times we would get part of a clue but needed to go back to figure out the next clue. If it would take very long our game master would help us with a clue. I read several reviews about how sometimes clues were given unnecessarily but that didn't happen with us. In our case the clues were on a small monitor that would ding every time a new clue was given. By the third time we figured that we could continue searching or just go over and look at the clue, all in all, it was our choice to accept the clue or not. I think in total we were given about 6-8 clues. If there had been more of us I doubt we would've needed as many clues. All the props and decor were great! They were either distractions or necessary for escaping. The only thing I didn't like was something in the room were you have to navigate your way around with no direction and it can be a waste of time if your not careful and continue to look for other clues. Overall, my husband and I had a really fun time and will definitely be going to an escape room again. P.S make sure to eat beforehand! We didn't and by the time we left we didn't even take a picture cause we just wanted to pick up our food! read more

Our group of 8 have completed at least a dozen other escape rooms so we have a good comparison. The price was pretty well in line with other escape rooms and booking online was easy. We were greeted warmly upon arrival. Our game master was friendly and dealt well with our silly group. She was also kind enough to let us walk around and look at the other room doors and talk about the themes. The set design and props are gorgeous and it's obviously a chain since it's "fancier" than most. We had quite a few disappointments and hopes for improvement. There is no story line to the room. Or at least our game master didn't provide one. We were just put in the room and given the rules. We were given too many hints. All other rooms we have done have given a set number of hints and we had to ask for them. In this room, hints automatically popped up quite frequently even when we didn't want or need them. The sound (the signal for hints and the game masters voice) was great in the main room but in the secondary room we couldn't hear anything. The puzzles and clues were very linear. You had to solve one to get to it the next and so on. With 8 people in the room that's quite a waste. Normally there are several puzzles that can be done at once. This room would be better suited for 4 people. Once we escaped, we were asked to provide email addresses to receive the group photo. I'm sure those email addresses are also used for marketing and that's fine. But we were told our photos would be sent the next day. It has now been 5 days and no photo. I emailed the location with a copy of my confirmation and asked about the photo. I was asked to provide the day and time we were there, how many men and women were in the group and did we escape. They said they needed all that info to "track down" our photo. This may seem trivial but there were not enough signs for everyone to have one in the after photo. That's part of the fun of the experience. We were thrilled to see another escape room in ABQ and we enjoyed ourselves in a way but with some small changes this place could be incredible!! read more

This looks to be the most expensive escape room in the city. Repeatedly when we asked for a hint they weren't paying attention. Add to that filthy bathrooms, tacking on booking fees on top of a room price of $90 for two people AND selling your email address to receive lovely spam. The props were way more fancy than the previous place I Went to but for some reason I felt something were "missing.".maybe a lack of story line or just the way the room was set up. . These escape rooms are very well designed and decorated thus I give them 4 stars. The reason not for 5 is that I was disappointed that there were not many rooms, beyond the initial one, to break into giving no real incentive to solve the puzzles and progress. There aren't many rooms to escape in total so once you've been here a few times you kinda get bored of it and move on to another escape room location. Furthermore, there are only large groups let into these rooms so if you aren't a large group yourself, then expect to be placed with random people. read more

The room claiming to host up to 8 players is not set up to work with more than 3. So people get left out because there is just not enough to work on at one time. I've done LOTS of escape rooms in four different states, and I was very impressed by this experience. The room design and decor is top-notch. It's definitely the most impressive room I've been in, in terms of aesthetics. I've been to many escape rooms that look like someone threw them together in 24 hours, but this room looks like the set of a movie. (We got to peek into another room before we left too, and it was equally amazing) The puzzles themselves are pretty good. They were logical and just challenging enough. They ARE fairly linear, which was fine for me because there were only two of us in a room. I could see that potentially being frustrating if there were 8 people in the room and you can only really work on one thing at a time. My feedback would be to not give so many unprompted clues. At times it honestly felt like the guide was in the room playing with us. It seemed like we were in constant contact, even when we were not asking for help. I appreciate when a guide helps keep me on pace - like, if we are spending 15 minutes on something that should take 5, I want to be nudged. But the two of us finished the room with 15 minutes to spare, so we obviously didn't need the abundance of clues we were given. It was Saturday night, we were the last group, and I almost wonder if they were anxious to close up shop and get to their Saturday night plans. There was also at least one clue that involved the guide watching when you complete a puzzle and then the guide triggering something to open. He wasn't watching, so the clue didn't open as it should have. It's not a big deal, but you miss that moment of satisfaction you usually get when the moment you complete something, it automatically triggers an event. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and we will absolutely be going back to Escape the Room in multiple cities. read more

My friends and I have done almost all of the escape rooms in Albuquerque, all except the Cheistmas themed one at Bust Out, and the other ones here, for the reasons below. When we did the Submarine there were many problems. Some of the puzzles were just wrong. There is a point where you have a video game like puzzle that was nearly impossible to control and also didn't work. There was s puzzle that was made more difficult by adding a barrier that made no since and it also DIDN'T WORK. This was only one of two rooms that I wanted to escape because I was just bored and frustrated. The room looked nice, but there are other rooms that look better. The puzzles would have been ok, if they worked, but there are other rooms that have better puzzles. We did go early, within the 1st or 2nd month that they opened. It is possible that they fixed these problems. But if the company is willing to open a room with so many problems then they can't be doing much in the way of beta testing. There are many other rooms in Albuquerque that are much better. read more

This was a fun experience. I have also played escape room games on my phone, but always wanted to try a real one. We got to do the puppet room. You start in two room and unlock a third. The rooms were pretty small for 9 people. You have to go down the aisle of chairs to get clues off the posters, but it the aisle were small I kept bumping my leg on their arm rest. I don't want to give away too much of the feature of the room, but it as difficult. You get unlimited hints though. Unfortunately, we did not finish on time. We need like another 30 minutes. I wish they would have given us the option if we want to know how to complete the room or not. We would have came back another day to try again, but I feel it was sort of spoiled because we were told how to escape the room. read more

Staff was very friendly. We were able to walk in and get a room within an hour. The mall is adjacent so the hour wait time went quickly. My husband, teenage daughter and I did the Dig It room which is slightly Indian Jones-ish. The clues were a must. In comparison to other places, this one has more intricate puzzles and rooms. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the price is a bit steep. Other locations have a $20 and $25 option. This location was just over $100 for 3 players. In my husband's opinion, the price compares to bowling and this is far more enjoyable. read more

This place isn't worth the price. We had 4 people in our group and got assigned the puppet theater room. Whenever we started out in our room, the employee specifically told us to NOT FORCE ANYTHING open nor push too hard on things. She said if we had the correct code, things would open and work easily. But then, during our hour of the game, there were multiple instances where we had the right code or key, tried entering it multiple times, gave up and would try something else then end up asking for a clue only to be told we had been right and needed to "try again" (and THEN the same code would magically work) or we were told to "punch in the numbers harder" - a lot of the buttons and machines seemed to be malfunctioning and cost us precious time. It also was never obvious when a code had worked and something had "popped open" in another room - which may be part of this room's game, but we only had 4 people and it was hard to hear so i can't imagine how it would be if you had 6 or 8 people. The walls were also VERY thin. There were multiple times we thought we had unlocked something because we would hear music, only to find it was music playing from the next room (a different escape room). Altogether, we probably wasted 5-10 minutes AT LEAST putting in the CORRECT codes and clues into faulty machinery, and we were very frustrated when they stopped us from playing EXACTLY at 60 minutes and then told us we were "within 5 minutes of completing the game." When we explained to the workers that a lot of things were faulty in the room and that it was frustrating to be RIGHT but then not have the codes and clues work the first time, costing us time, the employees just shrugged it off then asked if we wanted a picture taken. Will not be coming here again. It was a waste of $30 per person. read more

Was not impressed with the Submarine room at all. Pretty much paid $35 bucks to watch. The submarine clues were in a sequence which if you were in a group leaves maybe 2 of the group to take control and leaves others with not much else to do.
