I was absolutely horrified by my experience and ultimately had to forfeit my reservation and seek alternative accommodations. This is a self check in hotel, but you are dependent upon them to send you the code that will open the door to your room. That never came and I waited in the rain in the cold for hours. The young woman at the office was super friendly and helpful in getting us settled. Although they don't have a dedicated RV dump station, she said it was fine to use the water and sewer hookups from any of the unoccupied RV sites. An added bonus was having not one, but two food trucks on site, as well as a coffeehouse in the lobby. Our cabin was very comfortable too. Highly recommend!

We've been all over the country, stayed at lots of places, and experienced things we've liked and not liked at all of them. We've explored this place and this town in all 4 seasons. Escalante Cabins & RV Park is inarguably one of the best. The sites are all big enough for big rigs and they're not all jammed together. There are incredible mountain views from the sites, and as soon as the sun goes down, you can step out side and see the whole of the milky way. Meteor showers, Eclipses, I even caught a picture of a bolide - a meteor exploding when it enters the atmosphere. As photographers, there's really no better place to be. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, they're familiar with the area hikes and the visitor center across the street is open year round to provide recommendations and road conditions for wherever you might want to explore. Dogs are welcome and the sites have reasonable sized lots for them to be outside. There's a little dog park and everyone we've met has been extremely dog friendly. That's important to us. It's hard to recommend a place more highly. They're here to make sure your stay is comfortable - but if you are comfortable, they stay out of the way! This location offers an actual working laundromat, showers, firewood, and propane for travelers, you don't have to be staying at the park to use those. There's a community room that can be rented for larger events at extremely reasonably prices. The internet speeds at this park are (at times) better than I've seen from ANY campground. I've seen 300Mb down and 100Mb up, which is completely insane. Better than starlink, better than wired cable we used to use as homeowners. That fluctuates at times pretty wildly, but most campgrounds in comparison are throttled to 5mb down 0.5mb up. That alone puts this park above others for me. It's very impressive. This area is very remote and has spotty cell coverage, but there are VZW and ATT towers and both work acceptably well within the "town" area and from the park. People come here to find themselves, explore the wilderness, write books, sing songs, push their physical limits hiking and climbing, and just get away. We've stayed here in the summer and in the winter and we would stay here again without question in the future. There's so much to see and so much to do that there is no limit on how long a vacation here could be fun and fulfilling. That's all up to you.

I had the Single king room which was nicely furnished with lots of nice touches and perfect for my needs. The king size bed had a nice firm mattress but the pillows were kind of soft and didn't provide a lot of support. The tv was a connected to an antenna so there was only a limited amount of channels and sometimes the reception was spotty. But since the purpose in visiting Escalante is to get out and enjoy all the wonderful hikes and drives available this was no problem. The room has a microwave, small fridge, and a coffee/tea area with fresh ground coffee available. It would have been nice to have a small office chair so I could set up my laptop on the desk. The bathroom has lots of towels and a nice shower. The room has a back door that leads to a seating area in the back with a nice view of the mountains. The front of the rooms has a firepit and a grill and a nice seating area as well. The lobby closes at 6pm but the owners are available by phone to text or call. They are wonderful hosts. I had the pleasure of talking to and getting to know Terry and Wendy when I had a waffle for breakfast. They do not offer a free breakfast but they do have a small restaurant that sells incredible Belgian waffles and wonderful fresh ground coffee. The next time I am in Escalante I will definitely stay here again.

They also had a jar of snacks available, cups, plates, bowls, and silverware if you were eating any food. There was a roll of paper towels available and also a few packets of instant oatmeal and a variety of teas to make. Some of the rooms are pet friendly and they had a blanket, pet bowls, and treats available. They also had a note that they would arrange to let your pet out mid-day if needed while you were out for the day. There were also grills available if you wanted to grill. The blinds were also great for blocking out light if you want to sleep in a bit.

I have to take a medication that makes me very sick. I was feeling okay when booking, but it took a turn that afternoon. So I requested a refund 3 hours before arrival which was denied. TOTALLY FINE! So I stuck it out and decided to head over despite not feeling good at all. When I arrived it was great! The bed was super hard though. Then I went to the bathroom and noticed the code that everyone gets is the same for boys and girls showers/ bathrooms.. I've been harassed before as a solo traveler so I take safety seriously. 1. The bed so super hard and uncomfortable (I could deal with that!) 2. Men have 100% access to women showers and bathrooms. That's where I draw the line. I asked the front desk worker for a blanket for extra support, AND just to confirm that I have NO safety measurements as a woman when I shower. Once that was verified, I actually wanted to leave. So I asked for a refund or any $ back at all so I can stay somewhere else to shower safely and get good sleep with a better mattress. The following is why I'm leaving 1 star: The blonde woman was extremely condescending and rude to me. She said "ehm, no. I'm sorry. I mean you already tried due to some illness before so it just kind of sounds like you're just trying to get out of the reservation" with a horrible attitude. My illness is NOT visible, and this was also before I found out men have 100% full access to women's bathrooms and showers! *if you're a women, spend the extra money and stay at yonder! Women's bathroom has private locks for showers and safety/ privacy is actually considered! All good experiences over there, and they are MUCH nicer and not condescending !!!

He got to do it finally at scout camp, and has been wanting to go again now that he is of age and has a license. While here on vacation, American ATV Rentals fit our needs and the almost full day trip was quite the experience. Owners David and Tina were most professional and helpful with every step of our excursion. We had a lot of choices to make. First was what kind of vehicles were we going to use. They had the ATVs, 2 and 4-seaters, and some were meant for those over 200lbs which we all needed (slight extra charge for that). We also had to decide what length of "tour" we wanted. We had three drivers and four people, so we went with a two-seater and two ATVs all with the upgraded suspension for the weight. We then chose the 4 hour tour which for most should be the right amount of time for the 44 or so mile loop or back and forth from just about the midpoint. The course was explained and different points of interest and also points of reference to not get lost. I'm glad my wife was our guide on this trip! Next was the safety equipment. We were all provided with helmets and goggles all of which fit well and snug over glasses without any problems. They also provide gloves. All must be worn 100% of the time you're riding or else. They also will provide backpacks and bungee cords. They sell water if needed. We then went outside and got acquainted with our vehicles. How to start them, put in gear, brakes, and rules of the road. We were then on our way! David brought us to a point, gave a more detailed explanation of the course and what to look for. Only at the time we left did our "4-hour tour" time start. We were expected at the end to top off all gas tanks (high grade fuel only) and come back to the business. The trip along so many different views and geological points was awesome. And then almost right at the start I rolled my machine on the side. The gas tank cover came off and I was spilling fuel. Thankfully I wasn't seriously hurt and got up quickly to put it back on four wheels. It drove just fine and I didn't have a flat. I just had some brush burn and a small cut on my elbow. The other negative was just past the 3/4 mark. My son's ATV just stopped and would not move in gear. It revved up but would not engage in gear forward or backward. We ended up pulling out the tow strap on the two-seater and towed it in neutral the final few miles. I had to apologize to my kid for all the dust. You are allowed to stop anywhere for pictures and if you want a souvenir you can take it as you're not in the State park. We did not see any others on our whole route...just some cows. We finally made it to the gas station almost next door to the ATV business, topped off the tanks, and made it back. I was pleased as punch that the ATV I rolled made it back. My wife and I changed at the midpoint so I drove and eventually towed the broken ATV in the two seater, and my wife drove the rolled ATV. Once back (about 25 minutes late due to the issues) I explained our problems on the trip and David was understanding. I did have to pay a 20% depreciation cost for the damage I caused to the ATV. We weren't charged for the issue with the other ATV. This was within the contract we signed and waivers. It was less than I expected, and we just made it work. Overall, my whole family had a great time driving even with the issues we experienced. Some pointers I highly recommend: wear long sleeves, pants, and boots (not sneakers). You will get very dusty. Bring a lot of water and maybe snacks or sandwiches. Remember, however, time stopped does not extend your tour time. The sun beats down and you will get sunburned. There's very little shaded areas. We were told when we asked that the routes we took were classified as mostly beginner to some intermediate level driving. 25mph maximum based on Utah laws, but you're not doing that on these trails. My family and I highly recommend American ATV Rentals for a fun time. It's not cheap, but it was worth the experience! $1000 for the two ATVs and two seater for a four hour tour, safety review, map review, and you have to gas them up before returning them with premium fuel. I also paid a bonus $175 for the 20% of depreciation costs of the damaged parts. Oh well. The shower once we got home and two Tylenol was awesome.
