They charges a ridiculous amount for replacing bearings when the problem was a noise at the second level. When they came back because the noise was not fixed, they replaced the same bearings again and changed another thousand dollars. When l called them to complain they had changed us twice for the same bearings and were incompetent, they were rude and hung up. This company is a scam. They came to service my elevator which was working fine, broke it and then sent me a bill for over $2000 for repairs. I had another company come assess and they informed me the tech from ESC broke the latch on the door of elevator and none of the "repairs" needed were legit. This is while my terminally ill husband was trapped on 3rd floor and when I asked them when they could come back I was told to call the fire department for assistance and it would be 2 days before they could come back to look at problem. read more

This company should be turned into the better business bureau for its un ethical practice and charges. They charged me over 1k to diagnose and then miss diagnose 2 trips two edisto. We have used them for service for over 14 years. The results were a 24k new elevator but at a 1k service charge which they held onto my CC and unlawfully added charges. The second repair person blamed the 1st repair guy said his visit was unnecessary if the 1st had done his job correctly. Do not use this company. read more

We just this year have our first problem and Ed was good enough to call me and explain the problem without even being here! I'm scheduled for service over three weeks from now but hope to be moved up on the waiting list if a cancellation occurs . I have used their service for 24 years paying for annual maintenance. Recently the elevator had a total breakdown shortly after maintenance. My husbands only way out of the house is with the elevator. I was told the earliest availability is 5 days out or we could use their emergency service at $450. I asked to speak to the owner hoping for quicker regular service due to our situation. I was told by him to "take your business elsewhere". His rudeness was shocking! DO NOT USE this company. Owner recommended I don't replace my elevator. They sold me expensive parts that the owner assured me would extend the life of the elevator. It didn't work and kept breaking down. They charged me to come look at it, and it would break down within days again. The owner was a great salesperson and then was completely dismissive and unresponsive to address the issues. These guys will eventually disappoint you and become super rude and arrogant once you're dissatisfied. Everything will be your fault when things go wrong. read more

First, ESC improperly installed a residential elevator in my home. Second, ESC's purported "fix" of the bad installation was defective. Third, ESC failed to properly service the elevator despite our annual service contracts and failed to tell us that the seals were leaking. Finally, ESC will not return our calls and refuses to give us the installation and servicing documentation so that the manufacturer can remedy the problems. Zero Stars but the system requires at least one. read more

Called ESC to service our elevator when the pump tripped resulting in the elevator bottoming out. The technicians arrived and manually shut the motor contacts which they told me would force reset the pump. The elevator started working again and they explained some of the safety features and told me that since they just inspected it a few months earlier, they would not need to inspect inside the shaft and that the technician would do that during its annual inspection in 9 months. Fast forward 9 months and esc is again out for the annual inspection. 2 minutes into the inspection and the tech points out that one of the cables was wrapped around the hydraulic supply line to the ram. He then informed me that due to the tension normally on the cables, the only way this could have happened was if the elevator bottomed out at some point allowing slack in the cables, at which point I reminded him that esc was out 9 months earlier for that exact situation. He then informed me that due to the friction of the cable, the hydraulic piping was catostophically damaged and required replacement, further he informed me that the elevator was unsafe and locked it in the maintenance position between the 2nd and 3rd story and charged us $188 dollars for "diagnostics." The following day, we received a quote for $923 to replace the hydraulic line, add oil, and perform the annual inspection. Knowing that this could have and should have been prevented by simply verifying the proper positioning of the cables after the slack cable event 9 months earlier, we called esc to see about discounting the repairs. Mind you, we weren't asking for free repairs or threatening legal action for the improper repair that put our family in the unnecessary danger of an open ended hydraulic shear and rapid hydraulic ram depressurization while the elevator was on the third story with us in it. We just were asking for discounted labor. We were finally able to speak to the owner, Charlie, who told me that the repairman did inspect for proper cable routing 9 months ago when the elevator bottomed, and that we were either lying or ignorant to what we were watching the repairman do when they came out 9 months earlier. Interesting statement considering they were only there for 10 minutes total and definitely did not inspect the elevator shaft at all. This company does not stand by there work, does not demonstrate accountability, lacks integrity, and does not deserve your business.. As a side note, we called another local elevator company who confirmed that this would have been caught during a proper post repair inspection and ended up repairing our elevator and inspecting it for $490. read more
