Took my old truck in because I thought the suspension was getting too loose. We had a ball joint problem and I wanted to avoid that again. They got me in the next day, checked the parts and alignment. No problem and no charge. They know what they are doing and are very fast. But most importantly, honest. Definitely take your vehicle there. read more

I had been recommended to Ertl's Automotive by a friend and after my experience I can see why! I have never dealt with an automotive repair place that was so kind, so thorough and NOT out to price gouge their customers. My final charge was LESS than the original estimate which is something that does NOT happen at most repair places. And Dave's customer service was absolutely superb!!! I cannot recommend Ertl's more highly!! A+++ read more

I brought my vehicle in for its 100,000-mile service and was helped by Dave, who was incredibly friendly, professional, and courteous. He gave me a very fair price and he was extremely honest about the services needed and what could wait. This was a friend's recommendation, and now, I found my new go-to shop and will definitely be a lifelong customer! read more

Competent. Professional. Trustworthy. Reasonable. They checked all the boxes for a recent tire alignment service I had done, and were a pleasure to work with! Kudos to them!! read more

I am a 77 year old woman and know very little about cars. I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla and I saw a large puddle of oil on my garage floor. I took my car to Ertl's (been there before) for an oil change. They also found out the leak was caused by the timing chain tensioner failed and had to be replaced. This was on a Wednesday, and Dave promised that he would have an estimate ready for me on Friday. It sounded that this might be a bit expensive, so I went online to see "average" costs. The estimates were from approximately $500.00 to $2000.00, depending on the type of car, as several items were "in the way" and had to be removed and replaced to access the tensioner removal. I almost fainted! LOL!. Well, Dave is an honest and reputable person. He quoted me $486.00. I was so relieved! I drove it down there on Monday at 9:00 am, and he was kind enough to drive me back home, so that I did not have to sit there for 6 hours. My son's father-in-law drove me back to the shop at 3:00 pm. Not only was it repaired, but he told me that it was not as complicated as he thought it would be, so he lowered the price to $336.36!!! Now how many mechanics have you used who was so honest and kind to treat me, a Senior Citizen by being so ethical and truthful to lower my bill by $150.00? I have never met one! God bless him. I guarantee that he will treat you with respect and fair and honest prices!! read more

All this review can speak to is the high level of professionalism and customer service at Ertl's Automotive. After getting a flat tire and having to purchase four new tires, I needed someone to check the alignment on my 2016 Honda CRV. Ertl's Automotive was a recommendation from the tire shop. After making an appointment and coming to the shop, they inspected the alignment. The mechanic said that my alignment was within normal limits and that nothing was wrong with it. They did not charge to check my alignment and I was absolutely blown away by this level of kindness, honesty, and upfront business. If I ever need a mechanic in the future, I will definitely return to Ertl's Automotive. read more

I went here on the recommendation of the tire store. I was a walkin asked if they had time for an alignment for my subaru ascent. They pretty much dropped what they were doing to help me. Price qoted was good, very friendly took my car in right away. Unfortunately, they could not align my vehicle due to all the safety programs and parts on my car. They did verify that it was out of alignment but told me I really should take it to the dealer. When I asked how much I owed him, he said nothing, they couldn't do the job so no charge. wow!!! I like to support local business first. I highly recommend this place, excellant customer service which is hard to come across nowdays. Thanks guys you made my already stressful day a little easier. read more

My daughters 2005 Vw Passat a/c was not working. We called several shops before we found Ertl's. This was my daughters first time getting a car fixed and we were hoping for a good experience for her. Ertl's turned out to be wonderful experience for her. The woman working in office made my daughter feel at ease and explained what they were going to do to find the problem. A few hours later they called and let her know the estimate and she was overjoyed at the price. Once we picked up the car, the women again explained to my daughter what was wrong. I thank you for the excellent customer service and I will recommend in the future. read more

These guys are a gift to have in the neighborhood. Most auto places are untrustworthy, and over charge for the unreliable work they do, not here. I have brought in multiple vehicles and every time the work is good, the prices are reasonable, and they are clear and communicative. read more

Recently, my 93 year old mother's car air conditioner went out. We took it to Ertl's where we met Tilly & Chris. Both Chris and Tilly were highly professional, friendly and willing to find the problem and get us on our way! No high pressure here, only a desire to do the right thing for mom's car! We highly recommend Ertl's to you and your family! Put them on your speed dial in case you ever find yourself need of a great mechanic and garage that you can depend on! read more

They kept in touch letting me know the problem and fixed it within the same day!! I'm so impressed with the quality of their service! I went here to change a coil packet for a 2009 VW Jetta. I was charged close to $600 and it took two days to do. When I asked why I was charged triple the cost of the part that I needed. The parts girl told me that they needed to make a profit on the parts!!!! The labor cost was ridiculous as well. When I called to talk to the manager, the parts girl said that she handles customer service. She told me that because I wasn't satisfied with the cost that she would have my brakes checked for free!!!!! THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF!!!! read more

I took my pickup to Ertl for an oil change last week. They also did a brake inspection without being asked and told me that I needed rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders. They quoted $260 labor for the two items. I agreed to supply the parts. I took my truck in yesterday to have the work done. I told the woman at the counter to do the brake shoes only and to leave the wheel cylinders alone. When I picked it up, the bill was for $260. She told me that that price was just for the shoes and that the cylinders would have been an additional $75. I could see that I wouldn't win the argument, so I paid the full amount. I was offered a 1/2 hour free labor on my next visit. I will not collect on that because I will never go there again for anything. read more

I am a woman who knows nothing about car repairs. Dave at Ertl's, seemed to understand and listened to all of my concerns. They had my car for a day and went through it thoroughly. It seems I was overreacting, but they didn't make me feel that way and he reassured me that my car was fine. No charge! I will never use anyone else. read more

Ertl's was recommended to me for an alignment, which they did at a very reasonable price. While there, I asked for a quote on front brakes for my vehicle. They quoted a reasonable, competitive price. Of course, the price would be higher if I needed new brake rotors. I thought I certainly would have needed the rotors. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they were able to resurface my existing rotors, thus saving me money. They could have easily said I needed new ones and raised the price accordingly. Also I was in a bit of a hurry, and they expedited the brake job and I got out of there earlier than their projected time. I give Ertl's Automotive five stars for honest work and reasonable prices. They are tucked away in a little building on Greenback in Orangevale. Give these guys a call if you need repairs. From my experience, I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

I have sent several cars here and have been more than happy every time. They explain what needs to be done, and they won't do work that doesn't need to be done. This last visit I took my Sequoia in for what I thought was going to be a new radiator ($650 estimate), and drove off with just an a/c fuse and some valves and a MUCH reduced price tag. read more

Was given a voucher from American Tires to have a lug bolt replaced. I made an appointment at 8 AM and showed up at 745 AM, I believe the owner and one of his employee's helped me out right away. It took a bit longer then expected, but that was not an issue. They took the time to explain what they did and what I needed to do to find the proper lug nut. Caveat tho - Jenny could have been a bit more customer friendly-if it wasn't for the interaction from the owner and the mechanic who took the time to explain what was done I wouldn't return. Hey, everyone has a off day...I will come back in the future and see how it plays out. read more

After reading all these "Rave" reviews I was STUNNED at what happened to me. I spoke on the phone to a guy there about getting new Brake pads all around(4). This is a DIRECT quote of what he said: "Just Pads 110 labor(Takes about an hour) 99X2=$198 4 Top Quality Pads + $110 Labor =$308 for Labor & 4 top quality pads, or I could choose less expensive ones." I made an appointment and showed up with my own pads(4) I'd found that were highly rated at only $84 rather than $198. They only installed the front pads, as they said the rear needed "shoes" not pads. They charged me for a full hour $110(for only 2 not 4 pads). So I said "So this means that when I get the shoes and come back I won't be charged for labor again, right? I was told that I was wrong about what I was told. She said the guy had written down "Customer is bringing her own pads $220 Labor". That is total BULL$^%& since I NEVER told him I was bring in my own pads. I had at the moment I spoke to him NOT yet decided to look for Pads on my own..... Maybe they felt "Cheated" by my bringing my own pads, I don't know.... What I do know is that I'm having the mechanic that's worked on my car for 15 years to check to be sure they even PUT on the NEW pads since when I got in my car to drive away I could not feel ANY DIFFERENCE when braking... always in the past when you get New pads the Brake doesn't depress as much(since the Pads are new & thicker?). read more

Honest and efficient service: 2 things necessary in the car repair business; this describes Ertl's Automotive. I was recommended to come here by a tire place near my house in Folsom, I was surprised they recommended somewhere in Orangevale. This shop is tucked behind a few other businesses and next to Golden State collision. Kenny, the alignment tech was very friendly as a walked up and greeted me on where to go. Dave the owner was fair and easy to talk to. As a first experience, everything went smooth. I will definitely go back and will recommend to other people especially those in the area. read more

It seems that every customer through Ertl's votes 5 stars. Me too. Dave, boss and owner, not only sees that his shop (four bays now) does first-class work, but that the customer is treated well and is openly, fully informed of alternatives. Saving the customer money if possible and wise, is another goal. Squeezing for top dollar is not goal or practice at Ertl's; doing quality work and giving great service is. When about 10 years ago I first heard about and then tried Ertl's, I found Dave judicious and smart on what really should be done--and, importantly, what was probably not needed. He could have made more money from me but he has principles. He is keeping my vehicles in great condition and I go nowhere else. Highest recommendations. read more

Ertl's Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - Orangevale, California

I have a couple of friends who own auto repair shops, so when I can (i.e. when they are not on vacation and not busy with major projects) I try to get my cars serviced with them. Occasionally, I need an alternative. Ertl's Automotive is close to my house (about 1-2 miles). I used them several times for minor repairs. I really like Dave (the owner). He seems like an honest, no-nonsense guy. The job and parts come with a 12-month guarantee. I recently had to test the guarantee when brakes on my daughter's Hyundai started having a problem after a major repair done a little over a year ago (apparently, it was caused by a stuck caliper). Even though I was a couple of weeks out of warranty, Dave did not charge me for essentially a redone job. I'm pretty sure that other mechanics would want to charge me. I can't say about all repair rates, but for the jobs done on my cars, prices were reasonable. I wish the business hours were more accommodating (8-5, M-F means taking time off work). If they extended to, say, 6 PM or an occasional Saturday, I would've come to Ertl's more often (e.g. for all oil changes). If you live close by, someone from the shop can drop you off and pick you up when the car is ready. I would not feel comfortable asking for a drop-off and /or pick-up for minor jobs, like oil change, though, but it would not hurt to check. If you are looking for an honest mechanic in the Orangevale/Folsom/Citrus Heights neighborhood, Dave and his team can be your guys. read more

Always always reliable, friendly, timely. Should have written a review a long time ago. We've got 4 older vehicles that Ertl's keeps on the road. Great and honest pricing. They go out of their way to solve the most minor but annoying car mechanical problems. And the major ones too. read more

Ertl's Automotive is the best mechanic shop I've ever had. They have worked on my car numerous times, to perfection. Greeted me after hours when I had to get towed in a couple times. (Comforting as an older woman) Replaced the entire engine in my husbands truck and helped when our warranty said they wouldn't pay for it. (They finally did) Nicest staff and mechanics. Wish they had weekend hours, but hey, everyone needs time off. read more

I just came back from getting my alignment fixed. The job was done well, in a timely manner, and the gentlemen were polite. I didn't feel like I was getting shammed or charged for anything I didn't need. They pointed out that my engine mounts needed replacing and that the brakes were going, as they should have. I will be going back for all of my maintenance needs. In my opinion, this is one of the better repair shops in the Sacramento area. Thanks guys! read more
