Very hole in the wall. But right on the water. Seating is limited. Food is limited. Just fajitas. I had the mixed fajitas with shrimp and beef. The shrimp were good. We reserved our 2 jeeps via email and they responded with Confirmation. I printed our conversation. My family walked to Ernesto's about 15 mins from carnival pier and a crowd was wanting Jeeps. I walked up to the counter showed my printed paper -he asked if my name was on his list-it was! He had 3 jeeps left and we got 2 of them. ***he is working only on Cozumel time making no allowance for Cruise ship time**** we were all late to our reserved times. Jeeps worked great! Free Wifi! If you are traveling by boat, exit the pier (make sure you have your sea pass card thing ) and take a left and walk. In less than 5 minutes, you will find the bar tucked in behind a scooter rental. Its old, it's grungy , then you walk out to the back patio where you can see your ship and gorgeous blue waters. Margaritas were a few bucks cheaper than the ship (~7$) and they take card. We didn't participate in the food because we had unlimited steak on a cruise ship and I was stuffed still. Yummy! Came here today after a shore excursion. I had the chicken chimichangas which were great (and a strawberry margarita). The quest dip was not good- skip that appetizer. My wife and I first came here more than 10 years ago... and will continue to come back for the tradition of their signature dish - shrimp fajitas. There's something about their fajitas - delivered on the sizzling cast iron platter - that's hard to beat. The plate is piled high with onions. If you want more veggies - ask for them, otherwise tasty onions and shrimp (occasional green pepper) is all you're going to get. I've downgraded my rating from a 4 or 5 because of the price and inconsistency. Now that many cruise ships are nearby, Ernesto's has been able to increase their price without any appreciable benefit. In fact, we used to watch the sunset from the patio on the water, but now the cruise ships block that. I know, not their fault, but for those of us staying on the island there are other options. I mentioned consistency because it's really a range of how many shrimp one gets. Last time my wife had 12 and I had 8 on my plate. So, as loyal customers over the years, our trips to Ernesto's are less frequent. read more

Want to be the first review for 2021! Over our week in Cozumel, we ate breakfast 6 times and dinner twice at Ernesto's. Every meal was delicious. Having eaten at many places in Cozumel and being foodies, we can honestly say that we had the best ceviche, fajitas, guacamole, salsa, margaritas, and pina coladas at Ernesto's. Their breakfasts also can't be beat. The customer service was also fantastic! We will definitely be back the next time we are in Cozumel! read more

We went here several times while staying at the El Cid! This place is incredible! This is the authenticity we were looking for with great prices so we kept coming back. You can't beat the view there either. Order some fajitas and sit on the dock and enjoy that crystal clear water. Service is wonderful as well. read more

We were recommended Ernesto's from fellow El Cid members. I had the fajitas which we lacking peppers and was just meat with onions. The meat tasted like mongolian beef which was just weird. My husband had the cozumel burrito and wasn't impressed. The homemade chips and salsa were delicious and so were the drinks. The banana daiquiri was very good compared to other bars. read more

There's nothing more gratifying than authentic dining experience on the coast of a beautiful city. Ernesto's is as legitimate an eating experience one can have in a city so driven by tourism and filled with tourist. I had the chance to sit and appreciate the chicken nachos which is perfectly paired with freshly diced pico de gallo and the superbly salted guacamole. The portions are filling , comparable to what we are use to state side and what better to wash it all down than with Sol cerveza. When I return to Cozumel I will venture into this restaurant again. I can smell the sizzling fajitas as if they were on the table right before me. read more

#TurnedTheWifiOff on us wow! Nice scenery...clean bathroom. My husband and I went to Ernesto's asking if we could utilize the WIFI. They advised us that if we purchased food and drinks as customers that we could. Great! We were excited to share a few posts online since we had been at sea for a few days already. #OasisOfTheSeas Firstly, I will say I was surprised when the menu showed Gulf shrimp but they looked like small regular shrimp. It didn't appear to be what they advertised on the menu. Secondly, we had walked across the street to look around and enjoy the sights. We figured that before we get back on the boat let's stop in at the restaurant and post one last picture of Cozumel! I'm sure the restaurant we were just in a couple hours ago will allow us to post one last picture! We walked in and a new waiter asked us if we wanted to buy beer drinks or food. Our Wi-Fi reconnected automatically. We politely asked if we could just post one last picture before we get on the boat. Since the restaurant was empty and he saw that our Wi-Fi reconnect it automatically, he decided to turn the Wi-Fi off! Are you kidding me! That was incredibly rude since we were customers there already just a couple hours before. We asked very politely can we just post this one last picture and they said we had to buy something. The waiter who helped us earlier informed him in Spanish, "They just want to reconnect to the Wi-Fi." The new waiter said the Wi-Fi was in and out and having issues. That's funny because it worked perfectly fine just a couple hours ago! And if we connected automatically once we walked in. We asked him if he could turn it back on and asked if we were going to buy something. So I asked him, "If we were to buy something would the Internet work fine then?" And he shrugged his shoulders and said, "Maybe!" Wow! I encouraged my husband to let's just go because I can tell things were not going well. So we went down the street and based on principle we purchased Wi-Fi for $10 and gave someone else business. We could have at least went back and told our friends that there is a nice place to eat by the water one to get off the cruise. But unfortunately that's not the type of customer service I would refer to a friend. read more

Okay, quite possibly the best Chicken Chimichangas I've had in my entire life! They were light, yet deliciously crispy. This place is supposedly known for their fajitas, but the Chimichangas were so good, I had them 2 days in a row. The restaurant itself is right on the ocean, with a beautiful view of the sunset. For some reason, though, there isn't a lot of breeze off the water, so it can get pretty hot...you might want to grab a table in the shade! The place is no frills, but the staff is friendly, the service is good, the WiFi is free, and the bottles of water (and beers) are ice cold! Perfect after a day of diving!! read more

Food was great. We had fish ceviche, guacamole and every combination possible of fajitas. My only disapproval was the staff talking bad about my party and demanding a 4% tip. I normally tip generously but when you are demanding of a gratuity well you get $5.00. The staff kept bickering amongst themselves and were rushing us to finish eating. read more

Authentic and delicious. We were going for tacos but the waiter kept directing us to the fajitas. I got shrimp and my husband got chicken. Toppings are limited to onions from the skillet and fresh guac. Still so freaking good. Still dreaming about the shrimp. read more

Apparently this place used to be good. Unfortunately it went downhill according to many. We went there as there was no place close by at 930pm. Had the shrimp fajitas. For a place that advertises fajitas, they sure are not good. A ton of onions, no other veggies and 6 small shrimp. Expensive and not good. We will never go.again to this overpriced place. read more
