This is an access point for Kesugi Ridge. It's a trail with views of Denali and the Alaska Range.
Here are some key stats:
- - - There is no pay station at this site (as of June 2021). Something to consider when planning an out and back backpacking trip or a loop.
- - - The trail is 3.7 miles.
- - - There is a group camping spot on a lake at the end of the 3.7 miles.
- - - The group camp is at the intersection of the Kesugi Trail that heads South to Byers Lake or North to Little Coal Creek.
The parking lot at this trailhead doesn't appear to have anything except a sign. If you walk about 25 yards you'll come to a notice board. Another 10-15 yards last that and there is an outhouse. Beyond that, just trees, plants, streams, and the trail.
Overall, I would estimate there to be about 1500-2000 feet of elevation between the beginning and the end. The trail does go down a little ways before heading back up. read more
