A great find in Amberg…read more While walking the quaint streets of Amberg, we decided to eat here. The we were seated quickly at a table with plenty of room for our party of five. I don't remember if there were English menus, but our waiter spoke English and talked us through our order. Everything about our meal was very good. The meat is cooked in an open grill, located in the bar area. You can see the magic as it happens. Again, the service was very good, my beer glass was never empty. Look at the pictures to see the quality of the food, and yes, I like my steak rare. We would return.

Allg. auch, dass hier eine zeitnahe Zu- oder Absage eintrifft und NICHT, dass der Kunde nach 5 Tagen kurz vor den Feierlichkeiten nochmals hinterherrufen muss, ob die Reservierung nun bestätigt ist oder nicht. 2) Wenn ein Restaurant eine zeitliche Begrenzung auf Tische vorhält, dann sollte das dem Kunden auch so VOR (spätestens bei/unmittelbar nach) der Reservierung mitgeteilt werden. Ohnehin ein absolutes Unding generell. Aber uns dann an meiner 60. Geburtstagsfeier rauszuschmeißen vor all und mit meinen Gästen ohne jegliche Vorabinformation, dass die Tische zeitlich begrenzt sind, ist das absolut Unprofessionellste was ich in meinem ganzen Leben erfahren durfte!!! Und auf meinen Hinweis, dass ich die Info bis dato nicht erhalten habe, mit den Schultern zu zucken und den dummen Spruch "...dann müssen wir das halt noch auf der Homepage irgendwann ergänzen..." abzugeben, ohne jegliche Lösungsoption war die Krönung des Ganzen. Wahnsinnig unprofessionelles (Fehl-)Verhalten des Restaurantpersonals und das bei einem für Amberger Verhältnisse nicht ganz günstigen Lokal. Das hat mir meine ganze Geburtstagsfeier versaut. The beer here is great. I strongly suggest the strong beer and Dunkel. If you get the strong beer it comes in an awesome mug, which you can by for 5 euro. The food is varied, not monster portions, but delicious and well plated. We all ate off each others plates and the venison, pork medallions, and pork shoulder are all great. Mine seemed a little dry, but there was ample beer sauce on my plate and when I ran the meat through it it made a perfect bite. You may not easily find this one, but it's worth the hunt. And they have English menus available if requested.

It's 5 minutes walk from the Theatergarage parking garage, but it's smack in the middle of the walking only shopping plaza, so definitely find a parking garage and walk to it. There's plenty of signs for it but it is in the basement of a building so there are winding stairs, not wheelchair or stroller friendly at all. They do have kids meals on the menu but the waiter didn't offer a high chair and we didn't see any in view until we were leaving and saw a stack literally hidden behind one of their signs, so that was probably our bad for not asking for a high chair for our baby. The kids meals are limited, literally cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, spaghetti Napoli or penne bolognese. No cheese sticks and there's a pizza bread option but it's literally just baked pizza without any toppings LOL. BUT I ordered spaghetti carbonara and my husband ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza which we both loved. The prices weren't bad at all, and there was a decent selection of food. It did get busy very fast with lots of reserved tables even for a Tuesday evening, but we showed up right as they opened, so we luckily got a table. Ordered an initial appetizer of the potato wrapped shrimp and it did not disappoint, well actually nothing did. The passion fruit drink was delicious and the sushi rice actually had the correct flavor to it. Not just plain. Which is not always the case. Very satisfied overall and the presentation was well done with some added "smoke" for a more dramatic entry. The waitress even added additional so I could get a better photo. I will be returning.

They're usually pretty busy but we've never had to wait for a table. Last time we went we waited a little for food, but they seemed to be pretty busy. If you ever find yourself craving sushi in Amberg, this is the spot.

This was the show stopper for me. The meat was "fall off the bone" tender and the pork rind was crispy delicious. Don't like beer? Try one anyway. I tried a lemon beer that was surprisingly refreshing. I have got to squeeze in another trip to eat here before I leave the area.
