Peaceful, clean family-friendly and dog-friendly campground; owners hard-working and friendly. We had a gem of a campsite with table, chairs grill, fire pit and privacy. When we arrived, the owner explained about not transporting firewood., and buying it from this place. All campers most likely know this already. Understandable, since live trees are a valuable asset to the campground and surrounding area. Disease and bugs that kill trees are a problem to be avoided. Store is well stocked, adequate laundry facilities. Nice amenities for families. We are birders, so found this campground convenient to Presque Isle SP and Erie NWR. Also saw birds and bunnies around the campground, fish and a snapping turtle in beautiful pond. We stayed 5 nights, got to chat with the owners numerous times, no complaints. Rules are reasonable and necessary to keep the place enjoyable. We were refunded money before our stay for an extra person we thought might be coming, but didn't. We saw parents and children enjoying themselves fishing and riding rented pedal cars. The only person I saw getting " yelled at" by owner was a lady who took her dog into the restroom. ( the one that had the dog park beside it) So I personally can't agree with the one-star reviews. Read them for entertainment, if you have time to waste. . I apologize to the people who have put up bad reviews and I doubted them. Some were definitely vendetta reviews written on new accounts just to blast this place. This was my third stay and we were having a great stay as usual. I did see the lady owner going around at night checking everyone's site for firewood not purchased at their store. They did try to throw one guy out because he brought in some of his own. He basically told them where to go. They are definitely very strict on their rules, which is usually a good thing. However, we accidentally broke a rule they verbally attacked us using frequent profaniy before I could make it right. My cousin's widow saw my post that we were in town and stopped to say hi. Before she could get out of her car, the male owner come fliying up at high speed on his golf cart and started yelling at us about a guest. I instructed my friend where to park and where the office was. She tried to pay the guest fee for her and her son and the female owner kept pointing to the card reader. When my friend said she has cash twice, the owner then said, "Get out immediately, we don't need your attitude" To make matters worse and to show their negative attitude the male owner then saw my daughter coming back to the camper. (They were registered guests with the proper tag) He sped in front of her car, slammed on the brakes and started yelling her about speeding when she obviously wasn't. Read all the reviews - they say they going to fix it, they are not. Owner/management is a tyrant. Chased us around screaming about driving too fast - I have heads up display and dash cam showing I wasn't speeding; The management then drove 40mph through the park trying to get in front of me - then tries to head on collision; threatened to kick everyone out of the park we were with. Have it all on video. I'll try to post and show the link. So our family rented a cabin, then had a dog pass that day, so they were not able to make it. We were there to pick up the kids - we were thinking about staying but this happened, so we decided to bring the kids back to the hotel. The management started mocking the dead dog. Our stay at Mckean KOA was extremely disappointing and left us feeling unwelcome throughout our visit. From the moment we arrived, we felt that the campground was heavily monitored and controlled. We were told that an extra vehicle could not be parked on our campsite, despite it fitting entirely on our gravel pad without extending into the roadway or affecting neighboring sites. Shortly afterward, the owner approached us regarding another camper's difficulty accessing their site. We were parked completely within the boundaries of our own campsite, yet we were reprimanded and spoken to in a manner that we found unnecessary and unprofessional. One of the most frustrating experiences occurred during quiet hours. Our family was sitting around the campfire having a quiet conversation. There was no music, shouting, or disruptive behavior. In fact, we were speaking so softly that we could barely hear one another. Despite our efforts to be respectful of other campers, we were told to end our conversation and go to bed because it was quiet hours. In our view, quiet hours should mean keeping noise at a reasonable level out of consideration for others, not complete silence. After initially posting a review of our experience on the first night, we chose to continue our stay, comply with the campground's rules, and make the best of the situation. While we disagreed with many of the policies and the level of oversight, we accepted them and moved forward. However, after the owners read my review, I was confronted again around 9:00 p.m. and ultimately asked to leave because I had shared my honest experience online. This only reinforced my concerns about how guest feedback is handled. The final confrontation was particularly uncomfortable. The owner brought up an issue involving hair left on a bathroom sink by my daughter's friend and stated that she had cleaned up after the girls on multiple occasions. What troubled me was how specifically she seemed to know when the girls had used the bathhouse. These were underage girls, and the level of attention being paid to their bathroom and shower usage made our family uncomfortable. While staff certainly have responsibilities for maintaining facilities, the conversation left me questioning how closely guests were being monitored and raised concerns about privacy. When I asked whether the bathhouse was inspected after every guest used it, I was told it was not. That response only added to my discomfort because it suggested particular attention was being paid to my daughter and her friend. As a parent, I found that unsettling. By the end of our stay, the atmosphere had become so uncomfortable that we no longer felt relaxed or welcome. We were genuinely uneasy and did not feel that we could enjoy the remainder of our camping trip. It is especially disappointing because we had positive experiences under the previous ownership and had enjoyed visiting this campground in the past. Based on our experience, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this campground. Don't let the reviews sway you. This is a beautiful place. The place lives up to the KOA standard. Loads of things for the kids to do. The sites are well appointed and spacious. We did not really interact much with the owners but what little we did was cordial. I understand the quiet time rules. They arevteasonable. The kids here had a blast running and riding bikes everywhere. But the kids stayed on the paths. No onevwas accosted or yelled at. The only fly in the ointment were the office hours and the cost of firewood. The office hours are limited to a few hours in the morning and a few in the afternoon. That means that you are likely to check in using an envelope. Unlike most KOAs you are not escorted to your site. There us a real issue in the Northeast with the destructive luna moth. As a result firewood from out of state is illegal. Forcing the client to pay 8.50 for a very small bundle compared to a large bag for 10.00 just outside the campground is a bit much. These "flies" are not enough to stop us from coming back. read more

Warning to all campers going to Erie. I am the last person to give a bad review on a business. But this must be told. The water a d electric are on the same pole. The bathroom walls are buckled out and mold growing. Difficult for me to breathe. My family and I are still in total shock by the KOA in MCKEAN PA. Newest owners. Sharon and James. The new owners may just be your next worst nightmare if you dare to go there.  Sharon and James are just horrifying, very unprofessional, rude to children, adults and even your pets! This was the worst experience of our lifetime for our whole family! We still have nightmares. Sharon hides in the bushes and sneaks into your site, dressed in black. She demands people to go to bed at 11pm! We have been camping for over 60 years. We totally ignore the reviews because we are good people and we are rule followers. We even ordered 16 bundles of her $8 thin firewood. Well, reviews were true! All of them! First night, At 11:05pm, Sharon snucked into our site, almost gave me a heart attack! Never announced who she was! Even when asked. She started screaming at us about being rules breakers! "Guess you rule breakers can't read or maybe don't know how." Then She demanded US TO GO TO BED AND PUT OUT OUR FIREPIT AT 11: 06!!!! She snapped her index finger into my face while cussing and swearing at me about complaints she received on us. I said, "are you freaking kidding me" and I laughed. Well, she started screaming, "no, you are breaking the rules, so you now have 15 minutes to pack up your f--king sh-t and move out." THIS WOMAN IS A TOTAL AND COMPLETE DISGRACE TO THE KOA NAME. We spoke to our neighbors who told Sharon that we are good people and not a problem.  So Sharon is a liar. Please READ AND BELIEVE ALL REVIEWS ON THIS CRAZY OUT OF CONTROL COUPLE. They threatened us also, to call the police to remove us. I would not! Then she yelled at my husband at the neighbor campsite. Her husband, James, came in the morning demanding us to move out. Our dog whined twice during the night. I wish I would have gotten up the 1st time. It is a total Mystery how we were awakened by a fire at our camp site!  Thank God no one got hurt or died! Or worst, maybe burning us up while we slept! This crazy Sharon woman, walked all night long until 2:30 am. My husband and I couldn't sleep, so we walked the grounds. And there she was, Sharon, dressed in black, walking into sites and hiding into the bushes! Why??? They are just huge scammers who take money from families! They charge fees fir guests and triple check that they are gone too. They yelled at kids for laughing and talking too. They questioned them about their parents firewood and guests until they cried. They yelled at my daughter who was explaining the volume of our talking at our campfire. James interrupted her, and said, "you were suppose to be whispering not talking."  My adult daughter walked into the camper because you obviously can't talk calmly to these people.  He yelled at my daughter, "bad attitude, pack up your things and leave now! You have to whisper not talk". No one needs to be spoken in such an unprofessional manner.  This is not what KOA is about. Other campsites knew why I was looking for another site, as soon as I mentioned KOA. One place made me laugh after crying all day. She asked,"did you forget to whisper?" Another place ask if I was bad staying up pass 11. So, why has this place been allowed to get away with this harassment for the past 3 years to so many familiesand especiallythe children and infants? Permanents have left KOA because of these new owners. We meant other campers who all had stories at our new campsite too. Thank you Pinelane for taking us in for a beautiful ending to our summer. We went to this KOA when we were invited by friends. We seen numerous bad reviews for this KOA on various sites/apps and boy were those bad reviews spot on. It seems all the issues are with a female owner/employee on a power trip. My wife was yelled, yes yelled at because our dogs were playing and barking late Friday morning. However the morons that run this place put 2 RVs from our group with no kids next to the playground/pool. Teens from our group were once again yelled at for playing cornhole because they were loud. It wasn't quiet time. A family next to our group was kicked out because they were out enjoying their fire after 11 by the same female as she told them they needed to be in their RV. Lovely grounds, a horror show of hospitality. Two things seemed off upon our arrival on a major summer weekend - vacancies and a dearth of children. My family was kicked out for - get this - disturbing their dinner. After we left for another campground we read countless online stories of the screaming confrontational owner and midnight evictions of families. All of the negative review are real. The owner is truly mentally disturbed and will lash out to anyone, at any age, for anything seen as a violation. They *will* call the police on your for trespassing. This is prison, not camping. You have to be constantly watching over your shoulder, because the owner watches over you like a hawk. She may even lurk in the bushes waiting for you to break one of her silly rules. She is very unreasonable, like riding your bike in the grass, or whispering past 11:00pm. She has very poor customer service skills, and makes you feel like a criminal before you even do something wrong. Booked 1 week out and didn't read reviews prior so we were terrified because if we cancelled we were going to be out all our $$. This KOA is nice, Sue checked us in and the process was quick and easy. The amenities are fantastic for families. A game room, huge checkerboard, a pool, playground, movies at the pavilion (kid's choice), a fishing pond, small laundry mat, bike rentals, fire pit with no cleanup, etc. The owner cam by while we were unpacking to get us started with a few bundles of wood which was super convenient. Honestly every review I read was complaining about quite hours. Notice how no one complained about being told to be quiet in the morning......if this is a campground you want to stay up all hours of the night at then you should choose to stay somewhere else. It's a 11pm curfew which in my opinion is super reasonable. My working family is used to getting up at 430-5am for work, so there aren't many nights we're up past 930-1000. I appreciate no noise after 11 potentially keeping me up as I'd rather enjoy the early morning. I was able to meet both husband and wife who run this KOA and they seemed like very nice people trying to run a family oriented campground. My family would definitely not have any problems staying here again in the future. Only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because I'm not a fan of the wood that you have to use. Worst ever camping experience - ever. All of the 1 star reviews are absolutely correct - right on the money. These KOA reps were insulting, rude, disrespectful to us and nothing you say to them has a chance of changing their attitudes. KOA should be utterly embarrassed about these people having their franchise. It tarnishes KOA big time. As others have reported in reviews of this business, we were literally threatened with being 'kicked out' because we had a guest without 'advance notice and registration'. We were charged for an item we did not authorize. And when we chose to leave early due to the rudeness and bad feelings and not stay the second night we signed up for, we were, of course, refused any refund. Who in the world would want to stay in a place like this? Ever? Rules, Rules, Rules - no kindness, no courtesy, no gratitude that we spent our money with them. No talking at all during 'quiet hours' - are you kidding? We were charged 8.00 for having a guest, also treated rudely, who had to leave by 11:00 pm and could not park at our assigned site. We could not stand the bad karma at this place with these owners and we left as quickly as we could the next morning. Losing the money was worth far more than weathering this miserable experience a minute more. What a shame that people this rude can be given the franchise to something that should be so fun and camper-oriented. A very poor reflection on the Erie community with these business owners. July 2024 This is our 4th stay here and always had the pleasure of staying at the Erie PA KOA Campground. It has always been a delightful experience! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, setting the tone for a wonderful stay. Some of the bad reviews I see I believe are by people who don't abide by the rules. The campground itself is beautifully maintained. The staff here make it a priority to make and have well-kept facilities. Our site was spacious and level, providing a perfect spot for our camper. During our stay they had Jungle Terry come for a visit entertaining all the kids and adults with his exotic animals. They don't miss a beat when it comes to having great entertainment for all to enjoy. This was very educational and entertaining. The campground's location is also ideal, just a short drive to Presque Isle State Park. We took advantage of the nearby sandy beaches and nature trails, making our trip even more memorable. Overall, the Erie PA KOA Campground exceeded our expectations in every way. The friendly staff, clean facilities, and abundance of activities make it a perfect destination for families. Erie KOA - Campgrounds Near Me - Mckean, Pennsylvania

There are NO quiet hours here. It's silent hours "OR ELSE" you will be threatened to be kicked out in the middle of the night. Can't even enjoy an evening sitting around your campfire with the expensive wood they force you to buy. Took away all the fun kid activities, except a dance party with no lights on at the Pavillion. Used to have magic shows, animal shows, bounce pad, ice cream socials, and pancake breakfast. All of their efforts go into patrolling the campground at night and harassing their guests who paid money to be there. KOA needs to save this campground or de-brand it. If you want to enjoy a night with family and friends around your campfire, don't stay here. read more

The owners Jamie and Sharon made this the worst camping experience for our family! I have never felt so unwelcome to be camping. Jamie and Sharon always were watching us, and it made the experience scary. They were extremely rude and unprofessional when they had to tell us not to pick up sticks from the forest for our fire & that our children couldn't ride their bikes on the grass. We were so dissatisfied with this place, that we left early. Jamie waited until my husband left the site and then aggressively attacked me, in front of three children. They know people are hours away from their house, and they can aggressively use their authority. They use their authority inappropriately, and to ridicule and disrespect the guests. My husband and myself both work in community service, and are baffled that people would treat others in this way. They are ruining family camping for anyone that visits this place. They had a boil water advisory at the beginning of July about a week prior to us going there. They did not notify us or our friends ,who also had reservations, about it before we went. Of course because we would have cancelled before packing everything up. We show up there and find out that we can't brush our teeth, drink the water etc. My husband has a severe immune disease. I had to flip out to get them to cancel our reservation. I cannot believe they didn't notify us ahead of time and did not ask if we still wanted to stay there! read more

Worst campaign experience ever (The review is long her is the short version. Kids next to us giggled after quiet hours, female owner kicked the family out of camp, my wife said they were not loud and they didn't disturb us, we then got kicked out of camp for speaking up. Male owner threatened to have the police kick us out if we were not out in 30 min. KOA supports this franchise, as long as they do, please do not support any KOA) We were there for a week end, it was our first night, I was in bed the kids were too. My wife sat up by the fire and then was moving chairs under the awning incase it rained. In the camp next to us some young teens were playing a board game. At about 11:10 pm I heard some screaming next to our camp site. Turns out it was the owner screaming at the kids because she heard them laughing during quiet hours. The parents of the kids come out of their camper to talk to the owner, they apologized and said the they did not think the kids were too loud. The owner said "you are horrible parents for not having your children in bed" the parents objected to this statement and my wife, trying to be nice, walked over and said it was not a big deal the kids were not disturbing us. The owner said it was a big deal and if she came back and if any one was sill out, she would kick them out of the camp. After this crazy blow up a few of us campers were out there talking about the insane thing we had just witnessed. After the conversation ended I helped my wife pack up for the night and went back in. We then heard the owner come by again and tell the newborns because they were still out they were kicked out and she expected them gone in the morning. The neighbors were not talking, they were folding chairs no sound was made, they were just out side of their camper. Seem when they say "quiet hours" they mean curfew. I did not know KOAs had curfews for their "guests". Morning comes and I start breakfast. About 8:45 am the other owner comes by and tells the neighbors and I, that he "hears we are leaving this morning". The neighbors look dejected and apologized again, he said "I do not care" and started to push harder for them to pack and leave, he said he would call the police if they did not leave (just as he did to others in other reviews). I approached him and asked why I had to leave, he said "because you are with them", I told him was not with them and he said "I do not care". I asked what the complaint was and he said "your girls made too much noise after they were supposed to be in bed" I told him I do not have girls, I have boys and that they were in bed, he said , "I do not care". Then he said I had 30 min to leave and if I was not gone he would be back and call the police. I said great, I do not want to be here and if you feel the need to call the police you should. Anyway, we left about an hour or so later, no police and never saw either owner again. Lots of bad reviews here and on every other review platform. I do not recommend staying here or at any KOA. KOA is aware of this campground and they allow them to remain in the franchise, because of this I will not support KOAs. I am a licensed guide, I start or end a lot of my trips in commercial camp grounds with my clients. I will never use KOAs for my trips and I have been vocal with my fellow PA, OH and NY guides not to use them either after this experience. If you are looking for a relaxing, fun, enjoyable time away with family and friends, stay away from this campground. I have camped for over twenty-five years, and if this was my first camping experience, I would have most likely sold my camper. The owners are not welcoming or friendly at all. The focus is on what you can't do and ensuring you fully understand the rules provided in the guest guide upon checking in. They ride around on their golf carts actively seeking out confrontation. If you are an unfortunate soul to be told about one of the many rules they have, you most likely will be told you have to leave, or the cops will be called. Wish I would've seen the reviews before staying here. Unacceptable doesn't even begin to describe the "owners" of this place. Unprofessional, rude, harassing. The woman, apparently named Sharon, literally hid behind cabins and in bushes to overhear conversations. Once 11pm came, she came out of the bushes multiple times telling us we were too loud, threatened to call the cops, threatened to kick us out. Her exact words "talking is not acceptable, you need to whisper or you will be forced to leave; it's 11pm, you need to go to bed." She did this 4 times in less than 10 minutes. No, we weren't loud. No music. No yelling. Nothing. We paid for 3 nights and left after one due to them harassing us and us feeling uncomfortable, stressed and unwelcome. Have stayed at dozens of campgrounds, hotels, motels over 20 years and never been asked to quiet down or threatened to be kicked out. I couldn't believe what this woman was doing. Went on here, Google reviews, etc. and what do I see? Literally hundreds of the same exact situation. Young people. Elderly people. Families, kids. Sharon is mean, unprofessional and has no business owning or managing anything, let alone a service-related business. KOA corporate needs to look into this and address. read more

Pros: the grounds and amenities of this camp ground are great. We stayed in a cabin and it was very clean. Cons: the management! The owner Sharon is very rude and harassed us for being outside around our campfire and talking. They say there is quiet time at 11:00 pm but it is more like a curfew. If you're not in your cabin by 11 she hides behind trees and bushes waiting to yell at you. The joys of camping are the adults enjoying nice company around a campfire after kids are in bed; you can't do this here. They threatened to call the cops and make us leave if we didn't go in. We camped at the Erie KOA may 25 thru May 29th. We had a group of 7 different families that camp all over. We have camped at Erie KOA every year over Memorial day weekend. They are doing a lot of improvements to the grounds. They have some new rules that some people don't like, but rules are rules. The newest is no outside fire wood, because of the lanternfly. Most people like to bring in their own. Over the weekend we had no run-ins with the management or owners. Other campers think they can break rules and argue with owners. remember that they own the KOA and they have rules, and they want them followed for the safety of the area and pleasant quite times for others. During the day times we played games that got loud and had music, and had issues. Just play by the rules and you can have a fun filled weekend. The only reason I did not give the fifth star was, it was really dusty because of the construction equipment, people not obeying the speed limit. I'm sure once the construction is complete they will put down new limestone. read more

The Owner's- Jamie and Sharon DO NOT DESERVE anyone's hard earned dollar! The way they treat PAYING adult Guests that visit their facility is despicable. My family and I have been staying at the camp ground for years. They took over in 2021 and we noticed changes then- giving the benefit of the doubt because of COVID, we gave them another opportunity for our business this year. From the moment we arrived we were treated unfairly and rudely by Jamie. 3/6 families were already checked in from the day prior for the weekend. Our cabins hadn't been in use. (We had 4 cabins, 1 deluxe cabin, 1 tent site.) We arrived at 1:45. Let me reiterate our cabins hadn't been in use since our other family checked in the day prior. We were turned away and told we could not check in til 3pm. It was only RVS and TENT that were permitted to check in at 1pm (we had a tenter in our party). We went back in to ask if we could just go back to the other 3 cabins (our families) for the next hour til we were allowed in to our NOT OCCUPIED cabins. They told us NO originally then followed up with we could pay $8 per vehicle to park in the over flow lot for the hour. We declined, left and came back after "check in". Fast forward to Saturday evening...there are 6 families here on vacation. Check- out is for Monday. 14 CHILDREN under the ages of 10. Most go to sleep around 10-10:30, myself and 4 other adults decided to stay up and sit around the fire at one of our cabins. Reminder we are surrounded by our family. It is 12:10pm and OUT OF NO WHERE Sharon with her hands on her hips, "do you know what time it is? It is 12:10! Does quiet hour mean nothing to you"..... key word QUIET HOUR.. not lights out, not no fires, not bed time.. 11pm quiet hour. which is was we were RESPECTFULLY doing. Long story short, she wouldn't even have a conversation. Told us to shut it down, and when one person got mouthy because of how we were being treated/spoken to she kicked everyone out and said we had to be out by 8am the next morning. WHAT!!!!!! Trying to make it right, a couple went to knock on their door to have an adult conversation and they would not answer. Obliging, We pack up.. with crying, disappointed kids, confused on why we have to leave their vacation with their cousins early.... I ask to speak with The owner on our way out. He comes, not her- the one who kicked us out.. I introduce myself and shake his hand. I explained everything that had occurred and how after going online and seeing reviews about their facility they are truly making a name for themselves. They should feel like complete garbage that they get pleasure of going around their campsite yelling at grown adults giving them a bedtime curfew while paying to stay and support their grounds. He stood there on repeat saying "ok" "I know" "ok" I had to stop myself and ask him if he even cared. Then would use the excuse that "he wasn't there last night and his wife said " like a child. I told him we would never be back and left returning our keys a day early. Monday morning I woke up. Knowing we did nothing wrong and our family vacation that we had looked forward to for a year was ruined because of these two. I called Jamie. I asked him for a refund for the 3 cabins that were not in use Sunday night from us for our stay. Again with the nonchalant "okays" he wouldn't give me an answer on how I would receive my refund. I then said if I didn't hear from him within 24 hours I'd have my attorney contact him. He then said "I'll be sure to contact my attorney too, what's yours name?" I said " Sir, it doesn't matter mines name, it matters yours so mine can contact." He then HUNG UP ON ME! I tried calling back a few times and sent to voicemail so I contacted my attorney. My attorney calls and leaves a message. No response. We are now giving them 24 hours for a response on how we receive our refund. Next call is to the Better Business Bureau. UPDATE- they called my attorney back. Sharon told her to take them to small Claims court and that "she didn't care". My Brother in law signed a paper on his way in saying that quiet hours start at 11pm and if removal happens no refund. I'm sorry, I didn't realize "quiet hours" meant- no fires and lights out and rudely treated/disrespected after 11pm. Where is THAT in writing?!? These people are FRAUDS!!! read more

Beautiful campground! I would love to stay again, but I will not support these people. Our neighbors were thrown out their first morning because they were talking at the campfire after 11:00 the night before. My husband and I never heard them, in fact, I had commented on how peaceful the night was. Neighbors were told to speak in a whisper after 11:00. The owner, Sharon, cursed at them and told them the people surrounding them were complaining about the noise. We spoke with the other neighbors and confirmed, like us, we never issued a complaint about the so called noise. Sharon even hid in the bushes after her attack to see if they would comply with her demands. Ironically, it was Sharon who disrupted the peaceful night when she decided to assert her dominance!! Our neighbors asked for a refund and were told that there would be no refund because they broke the rules. Camping should be relaxing, you shouldn't have to walk on eggshells. It is good to have rules and enforce them if needed, but this was over the top. My husband and I will find other accommodations the next time we are in Erie. if possible I would give a 0. The owners are crazy. I stayed this weekend and after it became quiet hours a quiet talk wasn't even acceptable. One of the guys CREEPED over to us telling us to whisper or we had to go inside. on top of that they kicked out a family at 1 AM for being too loud even though they weren't. Some were intoxicated and had vehicles, but the owners still didn't care and wanted them "to find a way" out. they would rater enforced the rules then care about the Saftey of the people staying in the campground. So ridiculous! The owners also called the police on that family to get them out. After all that the owner came to our site and told us we were next to get kicked out if we didn't stay quiet! Overall it is NOT worth the money or the time staying and this campground. The owners are psycho! read more

I have never posted a yelp review but this campground warrants this post. We have been staying Labor Day weekend at Erie KOA for the last 5 years. It's the most anticipated camping trip of the year. We enjoy the weekend so much that we alway book before we leave for the following Labor Day. From the moment we pulled in the new owners were antagonistic and unprofessional. We had 6 campsites of all highly educated professional people age ranging from 40s to retired with 10 children. We also have become friend with the retired campers across from our campsites over the years. They were also put off by the new owners and asked to exchange info so that we could share the new camping location for next year. There were no planned activities for the kids like previous year, which was a big disappointment. Quiet hours are not quiet hours but a lock down / curfew. On our first night there were 4 women in our 40s sitting around the patio table talking. The owners approached us at 11:15 saying it was quiet hours. We told them we were aware and were just having a quiet conversation. We will make sure to continue to talk quietly. They literally told us we needed to go inside. The next night owners approached again, the women said she was going to put a timer on and if we were not in our campers in five minutes she was going to call the cops. We were sitting around a campfire talking quietly. All the younger children were already in bed but we had 2 teenagers roasting s'mores with us when approached. My daughter was afraid of them and was worried that we were going to have to drive home 3 hours at 11:30 at night. We go camping with our friends and family to be able to enjoy the company around a campfire. RUINED. We have never had a campground tell us to quiet down because we are alway respectful of our neighbors. I have NEVER in my life experienced anything like this. KOA should be ashamed to have their brand on this campground. It will make me question the standards that they expect to be upheld in the future. One thing that I'm sure of...these new owners will not be able to sustain this campground long term with the level of customer service that they are currently providing. BEWARE!!! New owners took over in 2021. Any reviews written prior to 2021 should be read with the understanding that the kind caring owners that used to run this location are no longer there. New owners are rude and condescending to customers and to their own employees. I went into the camp store to check in and the owner was berating the only employee that was checking people in because there was a line of vehicles and campers out on the road trying to get checked in. It wasn't the employees fault that everyone showed up to check in at the same time. Apparently yelling at your employee is more important than assisting customers. Then there is the 11:00 curfew; it's listed as "quiet time" which most camp sites have. This is not quiet time; this is a curfew. Do not be caught outside after 11. read more

Absolutely horrible experience with the "management/owners" have always enjoyed staying at a KOA but will never again. Cooperate office with KOA is a joke. Unlike any other KOA. Erie KOA should be removed from the KOA family for it does not represent the company standards. The Erie owner is in the wrong business. Has no idea what proper professional communication is nor customer service. She will make up blatant lies and cross lines of respect without hesitation. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! They should not be a KOA! we have been camping for years and have a travel trailer and travel all year around. The owners will stalk, harass, and scold little children. The owner got in the face of my 3 year old and yelled at him because he was being to loud at 11:02. we were told multiple times that we had to go inside our campers that we pay for. The male owner watches the kids while they are playing at the campground. it's very uncomfortable and unsettling. we were yelled at that our fire was to high( even though you have to buy there firewood that is for cooking and doesn't lite) and that it was disturbing the tree, that they have the fire pit directly under. The second night we were kicked out because our 3 year old would not get off the phone because he was watching a movie quietly. they want all electronics away by 11 so you can't record them being insane. when I told her I was going to record her she started swearing at me. I told her to back up multpile times to the point I stood up to get away from her. She then proceeded to yell at me to HIT her! She told us she was going to call the police which they never showed. Her husband dragged her back to there house and left us alone the rest of the night. We were kicked out the next morning with no refund. Please don't wast your time or money here! read more

Please take the negative reviews seriously as I did not and found out the hard way. Most of the good reviews are from the previous owners and do not represent the current owners. We rented a cabin for week and the kids were scolded and cursed at for everything thing from riding bikes to playing volleyball. My son wanted to continue night fishing after the quiet hour because he missed a nice fish and unfortunately took a call from a friend as teens will do. My wife and I heard him and I was walking to him while my wife was texting him and before we could get to him the owner stormed our site and started screaming like a lunatic. Even after I apologized and said we were brining him in she just got worse. It seemed the more I held my cool the more irate she got. Told us we had to be out by 8:00 am. Around 10:00 am her husband came to tell us we had to be out for having a rude and disrespectful conversation with his wife. I told him his wife was the only one that was rude and disrespectful and could see in his face he knew I was right but that is his wife. He told us we had an hour to be out or the police will be called. I said feel free to call them as we did nothing wrong to justify the police and I would feel better if they were here. For the next 3 hours while we packed up they lurked from the empty cabins on each side and from the gulf cart until we left. KOA should be seriously concerned with these people representing their brand. read more

This place is the worst! Stay away! Jamie and Sharron are the owners they follow you and your children around they are the rudest people I have ever met! They will yell at your children for being to loud! They will yell and get in your face if you talk past 11 pm. I understand having quit time but they walk around hiding in bushes to hear you talk if you are outside your camper at 11 they tell you to get in your camper and shut up. Sharron will yell and swear In front of your kids for being outside then they threaten to the cops on you and your whole family! Jamie had to pull his wife off the lot for screaming in campers faces and then at 8am he came around knocking on everyone doors saying they had to leave the campground in an hour! Loved this KOA! Very clean, beautiful, quiet and professionally operated. Our previous KOA was frustrating because of the noise level at midnight, so it was really nice to hear that the staff take the time to enforce the curfew. Our family loved it, and we will be returning. read more

I would give 0 stars if that were an option. If u want a fun, relaxing, stress free place, this is not it. The owners Sharon and Jamie are insane. They are confrontational and always looking at ways to belittle and demean their guests. The energy is oppressive and they basically act like a gestapo if you breathe wrong. I am still in shock and disbelief over the events that transpired this weekend. They will kick you out and yell at u for doing anything.Sharon will hide in the bushes and ambush u with her hostile aggression. This woman shouldn't own a business. We told her husband that they were not being accommodating and he yelled "what did u say", got off his golf cart and verbally assaulted us. You are also to be indoors after 11 with lights out or they will call the cops. The cops even said they are crazy and this happens all the time.
