I went in on my lunch break and asked the chef (Ethan) if he could make it fast ( I was polite) and he was so sweet and nice about it as well as understanding of my time crunch.and the sandwich I got the cali cheese steak(32) was spectacular! And I also loved the vibe of the place. That's it really also Ethan if you see this you were amazing and I will 1000% come back!! read more

The worst delivery situation I have ever seen. If you're lucky enough to actually get ahold of the business you have a good chance of never getting your order anyway even if it's been "confirmed." This has happened to me 5 times now and I think I'm done with the place. read more

Not bad, just not amazing. I do like that they make their sandwiches on French bread. They remove part of the inner bread to make room to fit fillings but include the "inners" of the bread with your finished sandwich. I don't like how little amount of stuff they put on my sandwich. When I want a sub sandwich, I want it to be stuffed, and this one was quite flat, but quality of food and taste were good. read more

This place disgusts me, I stopped in to order a sandwich the bread was hard you would think the bread would of been made fresh, if it was it should of been soft. Could t eat the sandwich something didn't taste right. Glad I didn't eat it my friend got very sick this morning from there . I will not be going back there , the staff wasn't very friendly either . Maybe they should try smiling more and being friendly . Gross food. Wish I didn't have to give it a star read more

I hate to give any place a one star review...especially these days. But this place clearly doesn't give a damn about their customers. The first time I went two weeks ago at noon, there was one employee behind the counter. She was brand new...day one...and she had no idea what to do, from taking my order, making the sandwich, or ringing me out. All of her fellow co-workers were in the back "baking the bread." After repeatedly asking them for help for 5 minutes...while I stood there wondering if I should just get my money back and leave...an off the clock employee who was waiting to start work came over to help her. I chalked it up as an anomaly and didn't think anything else about it. Until today. When I walked in at 12:07pm, I noticed three employees behind the counter, and two customers waiting for their food. Almost immediately, one of the employees yelled: OK I'M OUT OF HERE. And then she LITERALLY ran from behind the counter, down the short hallway, through the lobby and out the front door. The third employee slipped out the back. Meanwhile, the one kid left took my order. And then proceeded to take orders on the phone for 10 minutes. While three of us wait for our orders to be prepared, the line is now six deep. And NO ONE is making sandwiches. After taking his last call, the one remaining employee...casually strolled to the counter to take more orders from those in line. A gentleman informed him that he had placed an online order 30 minutes ago and was there to pick it up. SURPRISE! The sandwiches weren't ready. So the kid had to make two sandwiches at that point...pushing back everyone else that had been waiting since noon. At this point it is now 12:27. Customers in line are leaving. Suddenly, two new employees show up and start making sandwiches. I left the shop with my sandwich and walked back to work...30 minutes after I arrived. Not once did a single employee apologize...or even speak to a customer except to ask what they wanted for lunch. This place is pathetic and the single worst place I've eaten lunch in Wausau. I will NEVER return. Hence the one star review. read more

MOLD ON FOOD!! Manger called police on employee for telling people there was mold on the food bc he told her she had to open! His exact words, she is a disgruntle employee! Yes she was, bc she couldn't get through to the health department and they were forcing her to open!! She is a hero!! read more

good food at a good price. the staff was very friendly and pleasant. all around a great experience.

The employees here have been consistently unfriendly, and the service extremely slow. There doesn't seem to be a dress code or any sort of professionalism or common courtesy. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is that the sandwiches are still good, but I wouldn't recommend going here unless you like feeling unwelcome and insulted as you wait an extra 20 minutes for your sandwich. read more

I always enjoy coming in here. And I was very excited, to see Mac n Cheese on the soup list. It was extremely flavorful and creamy. I also tried the Girf on a lettuce wrap. I got a good taste of their fresh ingredients, despite not eating any bread. The only issue I had was they never informed us that the Mac n Cheese was more expensive than the traditional soups, that they carry. They do not list the price of the Mac n Cheese on their menu, in their actual store. So I was thinking I was going to pay 4.69 for a bowl of Mac n Cheese, but I paid 5.99. I have zero problems with the upcharge. I have a problem with not listing the correct price on the menu and not informing me. read more

Have ordered home delivery from them many times, always had a good experienc until today. They say that they cant deliver unless we order 5 sandwiches. Tried to give my business to a local place, lost my business for life. read more

I love Erberts and Gertss food. The issue is friendliness. The staff is not friendly at all. They do not smile, they look misserable.to have to be there. I might go there a lot more often if this was different. read more

We recently moved to Wausau from Eau Claire and didn't realize they had an Erberts & Gerbets until we were driving around. The atmosphere was quiet and clean. Our sandwiches were fresh and made neatly and quick. We had a great employee helping us and she explained how their newer lobster sandwich was similar to the old geeter (my favorite) I can't remember her name, but she had red hair and was very nice with not only my hubby and I, but towards our daughters as well. We will be going back :) read more

While not as large as a Subway sandwich E&G's subs are much tastier. There's the rub.... the prices seem a little high for the portions. However the food is so good and the bread is much better than a Subway. In the end I give 4-stars because I've gone back quite a few times so I must like it. The soups are good even though they're probably just Sysco or Reinhardt commerical soups. The theme of the place being that Erbert & Gerbert are brothers and the sandwiches are named after characters from the stories that their dad told them as boys is unique. The stories, and artwork, adorn the walls and are fun to read and look at while you wait or eat. My one complaint is that they've screwed up my order a couple times. More than once they've had it sit there where I could see it because they thought it went with another order. Or they've forgotten my soup (or gave the wrong size). Small things but with repetition they get noticed and remembered. Still I'd recommend the place any time. read more

You know when you get a surprise gift from someone and it just leaked you smile? That's what it's like at Erbs. They forgot my soup (I had no idea!!) so the gentleman ran out flagged me down, let me know his mistake. Be shortly brought my soup along with some snacks as an apology. Granted mistakes don't happen often here but if/when they do.... They are so quick to catch it and fix it. read more

Three stars or four stars, that is the question. I've eaten subs there many times. There are about 15-20 different sandwiches available with cutsey names like the Narmer. In the last year or so I have hungered for more variety. So I have tried other places. Their bread is very good. Fixings are very fresh. I love their deli style pickles. I have never tried their soups. read more

Excellent tasting subs. You'll never go back to generic Subway again. The downtown location is open late and rarely busy, so stop in and enjoy. They also deliver. Note that this place is on 3rd Street (on the East side), not on 3rd Ave as the map incorrectly shows. read more

I actually was just looking for any place that delivered, I saw the high ratings which I usually take the time to go through but was trying to order so my husband had lunch when he came home. The sandwiches arrived one hour after ordering, was told 45 minutes so no lunch for my dear. The bread is very close to JJ, but the sandwich and condiments were unexciting. I ordered tuna, it was just tuna with no mayo or vinegar or chopped onions in the mix= no taste. I asked for pickles on the sandwich not knowing they send them on the side and they charged an extra 1+. I ordered the ham n turkey for my husband, it too was weak. The beer cheese soup didn't taste like beer or cheese so what was it then? The broccoli n cheese had a nice cheddar flavor but the broccoli was hard to find. I read the background of the shop after I ate. I absolutely adored the story; I only wish the taste of the food would have been as thoughtful. read more

Yet another sub sandwich franchised chain of average food. Better than subway. Worse than Panera or Jimmy Johns. The sandwiches all have stupid names. A turkey sandwich is called a Boney Billy. I feel like a little kid ordering something called a Billy Boney. read more

Absolutely love this place! Great spot in downtown Wausau for delicious soups and sandwiches! Recommending it! Especially the cheddar and brocolli soup + the jacob bluefinger sandwich for my vegetarian fellas! read more

Erbert and Gerbert's - Delicious vegetarian food in downtown Wausau!! - Sandwiches Near Me - Wausau, Wisconsin

The menu and food quality is very good and expected by this brand. The young man taking orders today at lunch time was inexperienced and slow which contributed to frustration and some order errors today. Nothing that can't be remedied or wasn't but they need to consider having their BEST customer service personnel welcoming the customers and taking orders as it impacts everyone else in the process. read more

The last 3 times I have ordered from here, it has been poor experiences. My last dine in experience consisted of verbal altercations between two employees behind the counter. The manager "tried" to intervene, but the employee called the shots. Not once did the manager apologize for the disturbance, that last throughout my whole dine in experience (25 mins). The last time I ordered delivery, I recieved a call 20 mins later to be informed of no delivery driver. I drive to their location to pick up my food, and the manager/supervisor did not know how to refund me the delivery fee & delivery tip and was never reimbursed. Today, my food was suppose to be delivered at 1:35 pm. I called at 1:55 pm asking where my food was. Was told they were running behind, understandable, and they were making the food now and it would be delivered in 20 ish mins. The food didn't arrive until 2:25 pm, almost an hour later from the original delivery time. A call to inform me of the delay would have been considerate. Every time I dine in or pick up, their employees are not friendly. Instead, the employees appear annoyed. I thought I'd give it another go today, but after today, I won't be ordering from them again. This place is disorganized, amongst other things. read more

Always enjoyed my sub and soup, a couple times you could tell some workers needed a break but still overall it's a cute place with fast fresh food.. 400 blocks right across the street to also enjoy the food and weather read more

I gotta say I love Erberts and Gerberts. I, however; have never been in the store, only ordered to go. After my visit I probably won't even get it to go anymore. We were greeted by a young lady who was not not friendly but not super friendly either. Appeared as though she would rather be anywhere else. We ordered two combos and a kids meal. In the process of ordering it sounded as if someone was in a fight with pots and pans in the back. They were clearly not ready to be open. She did not give us our cups, we had to ask. No big deal. The kids meal she asked what she wanted to drink but failed to tell us we just had to go to the fridge and grab it. When our food came the nice gentleman got our kids drink for us. But we had to tel him we had soup too. The sandwiches were fine for my husband and I but the kids sandwich had 1 piece of ham and 1 piece of cheese. Kinda chincy if you ask me. The reateraunt itself was clean but dark and very dark and uninviting. All in all, it was just disappointing. If you open then you should be ready to open and your staff just be friendlier. read more

On November 15, 2019, I ordered lunch. 45 minutes later, I call the store to follow up on my order because I also never received a confirmation email. They said my order would take another 45 minutes so I told them to cancel it. Two weeks later, I call the customer service number about my refund and they couldn't find my order even though I had my bank statement proving E&G withdrew from my account and told me they'd give me a call back. I never got a call back. A month later, I sent an email to customer service and a representative apologized saying the case went to the wrong department and that she would send this over to the General Manager ASAP. Needless to say, I have still not received my refund. I've sent over 15 emails with NO RESPONSE. read more

1) the guy behind the counter was tweaking out on something 2) I ordered a comet morehouse with no tomatoes add onions. I got a comet morehouse with tomato and no lettuce 3) my friend never got her soup or sandwich 4) my friend didn't get her soup even after we said something and then the guy said something about her eating 3/4ths of it and WE NEVER GOT IT! He also yelled at her for something that we couldn't under stand. Also said it was gone. Then he mumbled some stuff and walked away. Then came back with a full bowl saying that it was from another order that was canceled and there was nothing wrong with it. Ok, now I think something is wrong with it! WTF! If we're still alive after the soup we're never going to the Wausau location ever again... read more

horrible experience!!!!!!!!!!!and absolutely disgusting customer service. i was actually screamed at over the phone because i told the woman not to have an attitude with me. all i was trying to say was that she should have updated the website or something to inform customers that delivery was not available. and before all this took place she "put me on hold" the first time i called wondering where my delivery was an hour later and i was able to hear her complain about her job. then i decided to hang up and call back and she hung up on me twice!!!!!!!!!! then the 3rd time i called that's when she screamed at me!!! i don't ever recommend eating at the e&g downtown wausau. i've never been treated so poorly. no matter what the customer is always right. read more

Awesome subs and soups! Good prices. Quick friendly service. A Downtown Wausau staple!

Josh and Chad are so accommodating with special request. They were fast quick with service and delivery it was much appreciated this is a fabulous sandwich experience and I definitely will return read more

Great alternative to Subway. Lots of uniquely named sandwiches(We luv the Tappy). Central downtown location open late and handy for all the 400 block events. Also like how the restaurant makes use of the old downtown building it's housed in. read more

Cute shop. Cute theme. Love the stories and the names of the sandwiches that go along with them. But the sandwich itself was just ok. Nothing special. Quite honestly if I had to choose between the veggie sandwich at Erbert and Gerbert's or Jimmy John's, I'd choose Jimmy Johns. They were very similar but I prefer the JJ bread. My daughter had the chicken noodle soup with half a sandwich. She liked both but said "I think there were 6 noodles" in the broth. read more

Great soup and sandwich. Here from Houston and stop by downtown for lunch. Very fresh and nestle in downtown by the square.

best sub in my opinion heard a lot of bad stuff about employees but they were all nice to me but this one girl.... i feel like the manger needs to grow a pair of balls and take charge of people or fire them if they take to long and sass everyone then somebody else that's better and more friendly should take over, but love the idea of the storys and the names of the sandwiches just awesome read more

I picked this because it had so many stars. Basically, it's just like a Quiznos. Food was fine, but not worth the write up its been getting. Certainly not worth going out of my way for. read more

New resident to Wausau WI. Ordered from Erberts and Gerberts from downtown just earlier this evening, and I have to say (having both dined in AND delivered now) this place is a HUGE hit. Not only are they reasonably priced, they are also delicious. They don't try to complicate things with a lot of sauces or crazy bread options like subway. Its simple, yet very effective. My favorite sandwich is the TULLIUS. They hollow out the core of the bread, so you can actually taste the sandwich, and they also let you KEEP that core! It's such a great little soup-dipper (their soups are to die for also. Broccoli and cheese is our favorite). Delivery was SUPER fast, and the guy who delivered was like...THE cutest delivery guy I had ever seen in my life. Tall, broad shouldered, and SMILED. Yep, definitely will order again. read more

We ordered 3 subs for delivery and it took them over an hour to deliver them, my brother had to miss out on his lunch because he had to go to work. We would have been better off going there and getting them ourselves because we still probably would have beat him back to our house. Absolutely ridiculous wait time for a sub shop when we only live 2 miles from it! read more

The management here helped me perform a random act of kindness today. I came in at noon without calling a large order in first (sorry I tend to be impulsive). The Deputies appreciate your kindness as do I. read more

I'm very disappointed I have never really gone out of my way to write a review let alone a horrible one. The girl that was working was rude. I am currently pregnant and noted by my dr, I can't have meat that is not heated. Granted I went in once before and a different girl was very understanding and heated up the meat for me. This time a different girl tells me there is no way to heat anything up and they can't do that when I claimed that I had it done before she told me that she doesn't work morning shifts and she couldn't do that for me. Last time I was there it was night time so I don't know how that was relevant. The girl from last time claimed that another woman who came in said she was pregnant as well and couldn't have meat that wasn't at least heated she was very understanding. The girl from tonight basically told me she couldn't serve me. read more

Why do so many people like this place. Been there 3 times to give them a lot of chances. Their soups contain nothing but liquid. Also tried 3 different subs and they tasted terrible just like subway. All these review saying they ar better than subway. Wow, they need to shoot higher. Other than Phillys which is decent and Jimmy Johns is OK, Wausau lacks a great sub shop such as a Pot Bellys. Camillees sidewalk cafe wraps are recomended intead. read more

As someone who has been in customer service for the better part of fifteen years. Tonite pissed me off pretty bad. I ordered a sub at 9:53pm. I called to check in it at 10:47pm and received it yet nearly ten mins later. I live like four blocks from the store but to be honest the cold isn't good for me and I've been restricted from being in it. So I tipped my driver 3-4 dollars. He delivered it and nice enough said sorry for the delay. This is bullshit. Some of the best subs in town without a doubt and I really enjoy going inside so I'll do that. I'm pretty steamed right now. I just can't begin to understand why? You got busy? So... I waited an hour for a sub. I recommend the food five out of five. Thing is at the end of the day and I mean it as someone who goes 110% in every aspect of what he does. You burn a major bridge with me with that type of service. I mean to hear when I called to check on my order "oh yeah sorry we got busy" not ask who I was but to just know. Right... read more
