We visited BB Jack's on a Saturday between lunch and dinner while our dog was at a local groomer. Our typical go-to is a dive bar with good food reviews but I wasn't in the mood to sit at a bar. We had a good visit at the BB Jack's in DeForest so decided to try this location. My husband chose to sit at the bar here anyways. They do have a nice dining area separate from the bar with (mostly) booths and tables. From the outside I expected this restaurant to be bigger. It felt cozy, not crammed. We ordered the 'Queso Blanco' appetizer, which I expected to be cheese dip with chips. We were surprised when mozzarella sticks with marina sauce were delivered to us. They were REALLY good, though. Fresh, squeaky cheese in a square stick shape served with a slightly sweet marinara sauce. My husband had a burger topped with a brat patty while I ordered the BB Special sandwich, piled high with meat and fresh veggies. The sandwich was offered on a croissant or french bread, I went with the croissant based on the bartender's suggestion. I'm glad I did - it was flaky and fresh. The veggies included lettuce, tomato and black olives. Perfect amount and combination of mustard and mayo. The fries that both of us ordered were lackluster. My husband pointed out that they were "fresh, made from Antigo potatoes" - per the menu. I just found them to be soggy and limp. The service was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was really clean and well decorated. The women's room, while tucked way back by the kitchen awkwardly, was immaculate. My husband was excited to try their fish tacos that were advertised on the billboard outside, but disappointed to learn it was only on Fridays. Basing my review on two visits. Each time the service was a little slow. Certainly not bad service, just not extremely attentive. The decor is rather dated but hey you are in northern Wisconsin. I've only come here to grab a bite and hit the road. My findings at other taverns that have that "dated" appearance you can find yourself at the bar for hours engaged in great conversation with complete strangers. BB Jacks makes a very solid thin crust pizza worthy of a stop. On my most recent Friday visit my wife stuck with the pizza while I tried the walleye special. I thought it would be deep fried and had initial disappointment when it came out pan fried. My disappointment went away quickly as it had a very satisfying flavor. The folks in Antigo are lucky to have a local place like BB Jacks. For those passing through on Hwy 45 to points further north, BB Jacks is worth a stop along the way. read more

As I lifetime resident of the area I've been here on multiple occasions throughout the years. My experience and opinion over the course of those visits? If you're not into pizza, don't waste your time. If you like pizza but don't enjoy thin crust, probably not worth your time either. Being someone who has neutral feelings at best towards za, thin za especially, I tend to avoid this place unless it's a free meal on someone else's bill. The alternatives you're offered are pretty much all done better at other restaurants in town, the service is kind but can be a little slow, and the decor is pretty rough even for rural northern Wisconsin pub food places. I'd give them a two for my personal tastes but I'm throwing the third star on there because the pizza is pretty dang good, I'm just not a pizza guy. If you want a good thin crust pizza and some cold brews, it's the best place in town. If you want a good thin crust pizza and don't care about having drinks at a bar/sit down spot, I'd say it's a toss-up between here and buck's pizza. If you want anything else besides thin crust pizza, It's towards the bottom of the list. read more

I've been going here for years on our way up north. What I have noticed is the definitive decline in the food, the service, and the condition of the restaurant. Pizza came out after an 1.5 hr wait with wrong toppings..the waitress could have cared less.. We never were checked on for our drinks. We all ran out of water and soda, my wife had to hunt down the waitress who snapped at her when she asked for our drinks to be refilled. There were some shady activities going on in the back... The pizza has changed as well, just all thrown together, the crust and sauce seems different too. Pizza is amazing! Small town feel, really like the place. Drinks are inexpensive and strong ;) which is awesome. Only complaint, the last 2 times I've gone, we've ordered appetizers... They have NEVER come out before our meal - even when requested. First time, we ordered cheese curds and breadsticks. They came out 5 minutes after our meals, and they gave us corn nuggets instead of cheese curds. Second time, just cheese curds. Came out 10 minutes after entrees. Doesn't make sense, considering they just need to be thrown in the deep fryer... We will see if third times a charm. UPDATE: redeemed themselves - all apps came out early this time! I'm from Chicago and very picky about my pizza. Until BB Jacks, I couldn't say that I had a pizza in Wisconsin that I really like. This is a cracker thin, crispy crust with plenty of toppings and just the right amount of a very flavorful sauce. THE BEST PIZZA EVER!!! I went to New York City and tried as many pizzas as I could get my hands on, and none compared to BB's!! This is a great small town place. It has the small town atmosphere where everyone knows everyone. An Italian touch... even the owner (who is sometimes behind the bar) screams Italian. An elder atmosphere mixed in with some youngins as well. The drinks come wonderfully strong and cheap, and the prices on the food is amazing. Where the heck else are you going to get such a big yummy pizza for $9??? The service is fantastic. We walk in the door, our drinks are brought to us with out us even asking because they remember everyone. If ever there was a lack in service, it's because of their popular busy Friday nights and only one waitress. Best Pizza in town- hands down. The only bad thing about BB Jacks is how small it is. The size does cause issues with wait times and service, but the food more than makes up for it. Get any of the pizzas or appetizers. My personal favorite is the Fried Cream Corn, sounds weird but it is good. read more
