I had a very poor experience with this office from the beginning, and unfortunately the actual appointment did not make up for the difficulty of getting scheduled.
I was referred here by my PCP because this location was covered by my insurance. I had several moles I wanted evaluated and also wanted to discuss possible removal because some of them bleed or become irritated, even if they were not medically concerning.
My PCP sent the referral, and Epiphany called me two days later to schedule. They left a voicemail around 4:30 p.m., but since they close at 5:00 p.m., I had to call back the next day. When I did, I was told they could not schedule me because they had not received anything from my provider. This was confusing because they had just called me the day before to schedule the appointment.
I contacted my PCP, who confirmed the referral had been sent. Over the next two weeks, I went back and forth between my provider and Epiphany multiple times. Each time I called Epiphany, I was told they did not have what they needed. At one point, I was told that if it had been sent, it would have come by fax, but that they had received a lot of faxes and would not know if it was there. That was extremely frustrating as a patient, because I had no way to fix the issue if no one was actually checking for the referral.
After two weeks of this, I called again and asked what else I could possibly do since my provider had already sent everything. Suddenly, they found the referral and said they did not know why I had not been able to schedule before. By that point, they were already booked out, so I ended up with an appointment nearly two months after my original referral was sent.
When I finally arrived for the appointment, the front desk staff were not welcoming. Both people at the desk acted like patients were an inconvenience. The assistant who took me back was very kind and was the only positive part of the visit.
Once I was in the room, I explained that I wanted a skin check, had specific moles I was concerned about, and also wanted to ask about persistent eczema on my face. When the dermatologist came in, he said, "So you want me to look at your skin?" in a way that made me feel like I was asking for something unusual. I found that odd, considering this is a dermatology office and annual skin checks are a common reason to see a dermatologist.
Instead of doing a thorough skin check, he had me point out each individual spot I wanted him to look at. I have freckles and moles in several areas, which is why I wanted an actual skin check in the first place. When I asked about the eczema on my face, he did not really examine it and just told me to buy a better lotion and sent a random cream prescription that I cannot even get.
The entire appointment lasted less than five minutes. I felt rushed, dismissed, and like the provider had somewhere else he would rather be. After waiting two months and dealing with repeated scheduling issues, I left feeling like nothing was accomplished.
I would not return to this office and would rather pay out of network elsewhere than go through this experience again.
I have seen several reviews since going here that reflect the same feelings. Would not recommend. read more
