This review is only applicable to the Rio Rancho location, specifically Dr. Krista Warnakula and her team. Now I admit, it was a struggle when obtaining our initial appointment as they were booking several months out. It is frustrating and upsetting to have to wait for care however it is not atypical in the state of NM; this is how ALL medical specialists are booking appointments. As much as it felt long to wait, we were extremely pleased that we did! The entire team in RR are kind, professional and attentive. The office is clean, warm and inviting from the time you walk in; the receptionist is greets you with a smile upon entering and is personable and sympathetic to our needs. The team is responsive, prompt and most of all, Dr is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. She took the time to listen to our concerns and explained a treatment plan clearly. Her team promptly called in prescriptions and now that my husband is an established patient, in her care, there is little to no wait time to be seen. We typically visit in the mornings and have always been promptly seen with little to no wait... perhaps that has to do with the time of day we visit but very happy with every aspect of this location! Epiphany Dermatology came highly recommend by our hematology/oncology team and we couldn't agree more! read more

I would recommend seeking a different dermatology group. Provided them with my insurance card, paid the co-pay, then received a message that I owe $200 because they didn't file it with the insurance. Was able to get that sorted out, (I hope) had my follow up to have cyst removed, not the professionalism I would expect from a medical office, didn't have proper instruments in the room for the procedure, was told they will Prescribe me an antibiotic, 10 hours later the pharmacy still hasn't heard from them. read more

I moved here from San Antonio, TX & found Epiphany Dermatology. I see a PA. I've had over 8 surgeries over the years due to skin cancer. My dermatologist in San Antonio would mainly freeze off where I showed any concerns. After years of this, I was able to identify these area. Although most of my skin cancer fell into the basal cell & squamous cell area, I find that Las Cruces likes to cut it out. I'm not a big fan of this. Hopefully, no more surgeries! read more

Dr. Sardina who treated me for Rosacea, prescribed a medication that was not covered by my insurance, I called and spoke to the medical staff and requested a new prescription for a different medication that is covered by my insurance. It has now been well over 2 weeks, and the doctor is nonresponsive to the medical staff's request. They can only tell me that he is a traveling doctor, and there is nothing they can do. I have wasted my money and time, it is a very unprofessional medical office, don't waste your time with Epiphany. read more

It was a rocky start. They were booking three months out. But My tricare referral was "not in their system," though tricare confirmed having faxed it. I had them fax again. Then when I tried to call back after confirming with tricare (a legendary butt-pain to begin with) , not a single office location number picked up. They all went to an automated message - even the corporate number - and the robot wouldn't let me proceed by pressing zero, even though it told me to do so if I didn't know my party's extension. It looped me back again and again through the automated message. Talk about frustrating. But I signed up for an appointment on their website, and they responded the next day by email with an appointment the following day. A little bit annoying actually, as it could've been a disastrous no-show if I didn't check my email every day. Nevertheless, the appointment to examine a weird freckle was super smooth and speedy (thank you, PA Long), and I was out the door in 20 minutes. No lingering complaints here! read more

I was seen by Epiphany Dermatology in Oct. 2023 due to a concern I had about an area on my face. The PA did a full body check and specifically looked at the area on my face (left cheek, just below my eye) that I was concerned about - it has been growing in size over the last year. They assured me it was nothing more than an age spot. in July 2024 I returned for an annual check and once again highlighted the fact that the area on my face had grown and darkened. I was told once again (by a different PA) that it was nothing to worry about. My gut told me to seek a 2nd opinion, which I did, with Rio Grande Dermatology and the PA there immediately wanted to do a biopsy because she did not like the look of the area. Now I am dealing with melanoma and an extensive surgery and scarring. Fortunately, Rio Grande Dermatology feels it was still caught early enough that I should have 95% survival rate (Thank goodness). Bottom line: stay away from Epiphany Dermatology in Rio Rancho. 2 different PAs missed my melanoma (never even suggested doing a biopsy) and assured me it was "nothing to be concerned about". Thankfully I listened to my gut instinct to get a 2nd opinion. read more

I had a prescription that was supposed to be fax to pharmacy...two days later...still no fax I called the office and on hold for over 30 min...I hung up. If I could give a zero star review I would. I waited for my appointment to get a procedure done for 3 months. I get to appt 15 minutes early, and they say, "oh we were gonna try to call you. We have to cancel your appt" no given reason. Just say scheduling chaos. Then say our next appt isn't until January. I've waited 3 months already and now have to wait 4 more. No thank you. I arrived early as usual for my 3rd appointment at this location & was shown to a room. I chatted a moment with someone about why I was there, but was then left alone in a room for 30 minutes. The woman who escorted me in then peeked into the room and cheerfully said they had forgotten about me, but I would be next. I waited another few minutes and decided to leave since the staff had forgotten me. When I opened the exam room door, there were 3 people in the staff area: the person who first talked to me, the dermatologist, and another employee. They didn't say a word to me when I literally walked past them and out the door. A few hours later I received an email saying I was a "no-show" and I should call to reschedule. I showed up. The staff apparently could not see me! How strange, right near Halloween, I've achieved invisibility! I won't be going back, if they can't even perceive that I'm in their office, they don't need to see my money either. Telling me they forgot about me made me feel completely insignificant. read more

I admit I was apprehensive about my appointment after reading the Yelp reviews. However, my experience was professional and supportive. I have several concerns, as well as a history of skin cancer in my family. When I came in there was a bit of a wait but I brought a book and the office was comfortable and the staff friendly. I was seen by John who listened to my concerns and let me know if several options to assist me. I love that they understood the cost that was involved with my treatment and took the time to provide various options I was comfortable with. Referred to office through my family care provider. My son s seen for a severe eczema outbreak unable to be controlled by our Dr. Front staff was very nice. After paperwork was taken right back and pictures and concerned were addressed. Waited about 5 min before John Clayshulte, PA-C came in and examined my son. He stated he understood his issues and gave us options for treatment. Very happy with course of action and overall treatment. Highly recommend! read more

Do not even bother to try and schedule an appointment here. I've tried twice to schedule an appointment for a skin check . I first scheduled an appointment in September.... several months ago... and when I called to make sure they had the referral they did not see my appointment. I then had to make one for October and I called back today to verify... once again they had no appointment for me. On top of that, the lady that answered the phone was the rudest, nastiest person I have ever encountered on the phone. All she would tell me is she is at a call center in Albuquerque. Extremely unprofessional beginning at the front desk, 4 so-called receptionists standing there gazing at the computer and not one, get that, not one looked up to acknowledge our presence when we walked in. I went for a skin check several weeks ago. The man who saw me was a PA. I have tattoo marks from radiation treatment on my chest. He called them blue moles and seemed to think they needed to be checked. I told him what they really were. Today I had a recheck appt. When I got there the girl at the front desk said the "doctor" wasn't available today, AND that they had tried to call me. Took my son here for acne treatment. He saw Dr. Janice Moranz, this woman needs to go back to school for bedside manner training! She refused to listen to anything we had to discuss, cut us off if we even started to ask a question. I was not able to even speak or ask questions she just shuts you down before you get two words in. My son had been on three acne treatment drugs and we were told by his primary care doctor that he needed Accutane because nothing else was going to work. On our first visit she wouldn't even listen to his history, she said she had to try something else first because the insurance company wouldn't approve Accutane until we had tried everything else first. So after a month on another medicine that did nothing we went back and she said he needed more time on it. Next month decided he needed a different treatment, still refusing to prescribe Accutane. Three months in and no improvement she suggested that he continue on the last prescription for another month just to make sure we give it enough time! We left that day, I made an appointment with a new dermatologist not affiliated with Epiphany. This doctor walked in took his history, looked over his acne and said he really needs to be on Accutane. We left that day with a prescription for Accutane. Six months later my son is doing great, acne has cleared up and he has more confidence. I got the impression that Dr. Moranz just wanted to keep him coming back for as long as possible by claiming that the insurance wouldn't cover Accutane until she had tried several treatments first. I later talked to the insurance company and they said with his type of acne after two different medicines fail to work they will approve Accutane. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

Waste my time. And gas. I basically drove an hour for the dr. To tell me he couldn't do procedure. Then they charged my insurance 400$. Was very disappointed. After waiting close to a month for an appointment Dr. Moranz was not compassionate at ALL. She entered the room & immediately without closely looking or even touching my skin gave me a diagnosis. Never explained the problem. I had to look it up myself. I took my face cleanser, makeup I use, etc. she didn't care to look at any of it. Was quick to prescribe medication. I understand she has been in the profession for awhile but that is no reason to discount my concerns or lack of empathy to a client. I wanted answers as to maybe my diet, cleanser, makeup could be possibly the culprit but she could care less. Will be looking elsewhere. Plus she prescribed me a horrible antibiotic that almost caused me to pass out while I was at work. I would give this place a negative 10 if I could... read more

I should have read reviews first. I picked this practice for location and called for an appointment after my primary sent a referral. First day of calling no one answered the phone, second day I got someone on the phone I inquired about the fax that was sent to their office but they couldn't locate it. My primary sent another referral for Dr. Moranz, I again had trouble getting the phone answered. When I got to arranging the appointment which was three months out the girl said ok i've got you scheduled for the PA, I said I want the Dr. to see me, then she said in a snotty voice, ok i'm scheduled with the doctor and hung up. Day of appointment after circling the area for parking I entered, approached the raised check in counter that had a huge sign DO NOT LEAN ON COUNTER. I suspect all the girls didn't want clients hanging into their space. I was called in on time and Dr. Moranz came in asked the purpose of my visit, what a charmer, rude, unsmiling, unfriendly I told her all winter I had a rash and bad, bad itching, and a few skin things, I'm in my sixties with a life in the sun. My rash settled down with spring and wearing shorts and seemed to have cleared and I told that to Dr. Moranz she said without looking at my shins or sides there wasn't anything she could do if it's not present. She went on an froze my ear. She didn't look at my scalp, hands but did look at my face and I rolled over for her. In five minutes she was done and headed for the door when I said I have a picture of the rash which I showed her, she wasn't impressed and can't prescribe anything. I just want to be prepared for the next flare up which comes with dry winter weather. Again I asked for some relief and she ordered an ointment for the tech/pa? who was in the room all the time. So I'm at home and a few days later rash is back and I'm itching my shins like a dog. I read the instructions on the betametasone carefully and put the smallest amount on. Eight hours later I was vomiting and spent the next day in bed. Vomiting is a listed sever side effect and I called the office the next day but no answer all day, Ieft a detailed message that I had a sever reaction but never, never got a return call. read more

The Rio Rancho Epiphany dermatology location has lost my business. First off I don't think a doctor's office should leave stashes of hypodermic needles out like they're cotton balls. This is dangerous and just careless. Second, this is the third visit I have had and each time I have felt rushed and that my needs have not been met. PA John Clayshulte is quick to use a one size fits all approach. He asks a question and then talks over me when I am trying to answer him. I haven't noticed any results for 4 months, yet he has told me each time that he thinks things are looking better. I think I would know my own body. Clayshulte can't even consult his notes long enough to remember what he's prescribed to me. Whether it takes more than a half hour to be seen or if you are seen on time, you still get the same 5 minutes of spiel like a recording and you are sent out the door. This seems like it is too short of a time to assess a problem and find a solution. Not to be mean, but PA John Clayshulte is extremely pompous with zero hint of compassion or caring. read more
