During my dozens of sessions with Julie over the years she has always been spot on through each chapter in my life. Will always recommend her due to her years of experience. I've been here twice.... and I love it here! I always see Cathy Miller. She is amazing. I know…read morethere are skeptics out there, but I am a believer. Cathy was quite accurate in some things she said to me. My loved ones who came through... there was no way Cathy could know about any of them. You don't even give your last name when you make an appointment so they can't "google" you ahead of time. Many of the things she said were true, and many have also come to fruition. She's soft spoken and in no way theatrical. I've felt so much better after leaving the Purple Door. Questions were answered and I've felt more a peace, as I needed closure on some things. I highly recommend Purple Door if you are at all curious about psychic mediums. You won't be disappointed.

Four stars for the selection, but honestly I'd rate it much lower for the smell. As others have…read morementioned, this bookstore smells like smoke, and of course old books since this is a used bookstore. As someone with severe asthma, I just couldn't stay in this store for very long. Just not my cup of tea, but might be yours. They had a very large selection of a wide range of used books, and it was very well organized and pretty tidy compared to other used bookstores. This was one of my stops on the Rochester Book Crawl, so I might not have otherwise explored this shop. The bookseller was very nice and helpful.

Greenwood Books is a great local bookstore, one of the best independent ones in town (if not the…read morebest). They sell really quality literature on a variety of topics, especially music (fitting, given the nearby Eastman School of Music), and also including religion, fiction, technology and more. There's definitely a theme of rare, old, obscure and intriguing books on all subjects - the main running theme seems to be whatever is genuinely interesting, by any definition. Also, although there's no seating, I do appreciate that the place is not overly stuffed to the brim with books and doesn't feel overwhelming, but rather, pleasantly full of options to peruse and explore. The owner is always very nice; I (at least) once had a great conversation with her. I haven't bought a lot here, but I once purchased a beautiful book of Saul Steinberg's artwork for a relatively good price. It's well worth browsing the shelves here, maybe preceded or followed by a visit to Java's Café on Gibbs. Buy something if you can, and support a local treasure!

They also have a nice selection of used books and large selection of new books. The book deals (of the BOGO variety) inspired me to buy a number of books. The bookseller was very kind as I was trying to figure out which books to buy. This was a great stop on the Rochester Book Crawl and I'm glad to have been introduced to this bookstore! I'm sure I'll return if I'm looking to buy more books.

Loveee this bookstore! Such a great selection, so many books! Great layout too!…read more This is another bookstore that I visited as part of the Rochester Book Crawl. It's a bit of a hike from Rochester but was definitely worth a trip to check it out. There were so many books that were organized in helpful sections. The decor and overall vibe created by the layout was great as well. Books were reasonably priced, including a rack of paperback classics. The bookseller was very friendly and knowledgeable.

If you haven't been to Scents By Design to make your own custom candle yet... what are you waiting…read morefor ?! Well hold on, you can actually make body scrubs and hand soap now too.. I had no idea ! It had been years since I last visited, so I was really excited to go back with my sisters. Staff welcomed us, we got some drinks and had such a fun time sniffing all the endless possibilities we could create. Once we had our fave lists together and sat down to create the scent... I ended up not loving mine. Even with their help and some tweaking, I just wasn't feeling it at all, which was a little disappointing for me. I did end up finding a happy medium in the end.. and honestly I was having such a good time with my family that I didn't let it bother me anyway. BUT when I picked up my candle the next day... I was completely blown away !! The scent had mellowed out and smelled way better than the day before. Like it was basically what I was looking for ! I guess sometimes it's just like that. So if you're not loving what you made... just wait until you pick it up and give it a sniff then. I will definitely be back now that I have my list of favorite smells and cant wait to make another.
