Breeze through, grab what you want, and pay at the kiosk around the corner. Easy peasey!

I love going to the movies, but the prices have gotten crazy (Regal in WP charges $15 now...for a matinee). Therefore, I am DELIGHTED to have Epic Theatres here in Mt. Dora. A decent theatre with plenty of kiosks for you to use and even a la carte for concessions. Most of your arrival here has you using self check-out kiosks, which all actually work. There's even a kiosk for Cash Only transactions. Getting in, grabbing snacks, and getting a seat is so much faster here. The staff were very polite and quick to help me and I noticed it was pretty clean throughout - even the restroom. My popcorn wasn't stale! Whoo hoo! They have recliner seats - double whoo hoo! You can sign up with their loyalty program to earn points towards $5 off at the concession stand or earn free tickets. Tuesdays tickets are $6 all day - you've got to love that. Even regular matinees are still under $10! I know where I'll be seeing all the big holiday films coming up. That and so much more - grateful for this Epic experience!

Hidden gem....and I hate that I'm telling y'all about it! Listen, this is by far the best movie theater in a 20 mile radius. It's very clean and seats are extremely comfortable - They recline! I paid 40 bucks cheaper than AMC. Anyhoo...don't take my word for it...better for me :)

We have seen movies here at this theater at least twice. It seems to show nearly the same films as the AMC Theater in Leesburg, the weekday early showings are about the same price, and the seats recline similarly, so I guess we should use this local theater more often. They have special showings of classic movies that we haven't yet tried. The theaters seem to be slightly smaller, so if you go to busier shows, it might be trickier sometimes to get seats. I am not a member of their rewards programs and we don't buy anything from their concessions, so I can't make any value judgement there. There is plenty of parking, but always approach it from the front and center of the lot. It looks like you can access it from the stores on either side, but we wasted a few minutes trying to do that in vain.

I'll start with the good: the seats are very comfy recliners with cupholders and plenty of space for every human. What seems like a couple feet of walking space between extended foot rests and wall rounds out the comfort, since a person can easily walk between both without you moving. The screen is large and sharp, the sound clean and not too loud. I also liked that the ads in the beginning were quite a bit lower volume than the previews or actual movie. The place is large and clean, even the bathrooms, and there's plenty of well-lit parking Now the less desirable: their pricing is high, all across the board. A large popcorn is $9, two beers are $20, and two movie tix $30.86, after taxes and service charges for using their app. Um, that's a decent dinner at many places! Be aware, the bar area is diminutive and your options very limited. If you want a bourbon on the rocks, for example, you can't have it. See, they have a system where the 15 year-old employee just pushes a button and out comes the portioned drink. Meh... I'll check them again; perhaps they'll do matinee or special pricing in the future. In the meantime, I guess I'll stick with Netflix ;)

We are always greeted warmly, parked strategically, and had the details explained to us upon arrival. Because our motorhome is 40' we have to park sideways so cannot see the movies out of the windshield as you would in a car, but we put out our lawn chairs and raised dog bed outside the rig and listen on our FM radio. We do tie the pups off to a post in front of us because others with dogs often park or walk nearby and ours are a bit too friendly. When the ticket booth opens, we pay for our tickets and concession voucher. The muffulettas and popcorn are both excellent! We were told we could run our generator before/after the movies but not during...worked out perfectly for us! Although our rig is self contained and didn't use them, bathrooms were nearby and open through the night. The even projected a free Valentines message between films as long as it was received a few days prior. Note: if you don't plan to listen from your car, you do need an FM radio...I don't think they have any of the old-fashioned window hanging speakers.

We accidentally lined up incorrectly and got a whole lecture how to read the signs. After paying $6 each and being charged an automatic $10 food voucher, we parked. The ladies working the concession stand are so rude. There's a sign that basically says "don't line up if you don't know what you want." The popcorn had been popped earlier so it wasn't warm and way too salty. The soda was flat, and the mozzarella sticks were again, salty. Apple Pay doesn't work! Movie started at 8pm and it was still daylight outside. The screen was still dark that no one could actually see the movie until an hour later. The instructions were to turn off the lights and engine, but the people around us had their engines on so the exhaust kept flowing through the lot. I wish there was an attendant that enforced the rules. Overall, it's an experience but they need to do better. I guess this is what $22 gets us.

When we showed our tickets to be scanned in we asked the guy about our order and he said no worries they will bring it to your seat. We got to our seats at 9:40 pm and the movie starts at 9:45 pm. The time slot for the food to be delivered to us said 9:45-10:05 pm. The movie started around 9:50 - 9:55 pm so we didn't go check on our food. When it was around 10:20 we still didn't get our food so we called the front desk. They weren't pleasant and claimed we weren't in our seats when they came to drop off our order to us so they took it back. Then they said that they will see what they can do and if not we will have to come to the front to get our order. I said we're in the middle of our movie and can't that's why we placed it ahead of time to be delivered to our seat. We were in our seats for the 9:45-10-05 delivery slot. We still hadn't received our order so when there was an intermission we went to the front desk that had the same guy that scanned our tickets in to see what's going on. They said that food department had another manager in charge and pointed us to some elderly lady. When we went to talk to her she right away assumed there was no order like that and said all the orders for that day was done. Then we showed our email with the receipt and she went from having an attitude to being apologetic so fast. Then she said there's nothing they can do about it since the kitchen was closed and that we should've checked on our order before they closed and offered us a refund. This is the worst service I've ever had there. I watch movies there almost every month and never had this kind of experience before. No one wants to take responsibility for the problem and try to help solve it. They just kept pushing it onto another worker. The only reason we placed deliver to our seat option was to skip the long lines they always have. If this is how "deliver to seat" is then I'm never placing an order like that again. Horrible customer service.

To sum it up: great atmosphere, solid food, excellent shakes, and consistently good service…read more Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater can get busy, and reservations are sometimes difficult to secure because it's one of the more popular restaurants on Disney property. The menu is mostly burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and rotating specialty items. I've been visiting for several years, and it's a must-do for us. They usually offer a special burger and shake, although I still miss the ribs they used to serve. The atmosphere is what truly makes this restaurant special. You begin behind the scenes of a movie production and are then escorted by your carhop into a drive-in theater. The area is designed to look like nighttime, complete with city lights surrounding the theater. The most sought-after seats are the cars with bench seating, which can accommodate about two people per row. Larger parties may still be seated in a car-themed area, but they'll typically have regular tables attached to the front and rear sections of a vehicle. If you don't have a reservation, you may be seated at circular tables with umbrellas. Those provide more space, but they aren't nearly as immersive. The car benches have small built-in lights, which are helpful for reading the menu without ruining the atmosphere. The movie screen plays old B-movie trailers, drive-in commercials, and classic Walt Disney science-fiction cartoons. The program loops after about an hour, but since I've visited many times, I'm probably more aware of that than most guests. The food is consistently good, and you can't go wrong with the burgers. On my most recent visit, I tried the appetizer sampler, which included fried pickles, wings, and queso. The wings were excellent. I also ordered an alcoholic chocolate shake, but after sharing the appetizer and a sandwich, I was already dangerously full. My dining companion and I often share meals because the portions are filling. If you're hungry and skipping the appetizer, though, I recommend ordering individually. The service has always been excellent--exactly what I've come to expect from Disney. I've visited more than eight times and, with a reservation, have never waited longer than 10 minutes to be seated. I haven't tried dessert because I'm usually so full that I feel like I'm going to burst, especially back when they offered those ribs. I plan to try the house-made Sci-Fi Candy Bar on my next visit, as I've heard great things about it. Prices are reasonable for Disney, and annual passholder discounts are accepted. The restaurant can be a little difficult to find if you're unfamiliar with the park. It's next to ABC Commissary, down the wide walkway near the Chinese Theater. Once you're almost at the theater entrance, look to your left, find ABC Commissary, and follow the walkway down until you see the restaurant. Sci-Fi Dine-In is fun for the whole family and offers an experience you won't get anywhere else at Disney. Reservations are strongly recommended.

Both visits I waited almost 1 hour for my reservation to be honored. No apologies. Nothing to accommodate. (Keep in mind if I had shown that late they would have given my table away). Once sat I was really irritated to see a half empty room. The table beside me was sleeping in the booth. No one was moving them along. No one. Once they actually left it took 10 minutes for the tale to be cleaned and another 10 before another reservation was sat. The lobby was still full of reservations not being honored though. The wait staff was OK both times. They go through the motions; food is slow to come out. We were checked on once. No area leader in sight to check on people. There's a whole park outside and stopping here on two separate occasions has put my planned time at the park in jeopardy. At this point, I won't be back. And if you have plans in the park, consider NOT eating here.
