A special thank you to the Enumclaw PD for the brief time in jail tonight -a clerical error surrounding a traffic violation somehow justifies being pulled out of the car, cuffed, treated like shit, booked and put in jail before bail is posted 45 minutes later. Great use of our tax dollars and everyone's time, you're doing fantastic work out there keeping the streets safe Officer Abel (and two other officers that we're 'backing him up' on the exciting arrest). And making sure the cuffs where as tight as they'd go on the hands of a cooperative subject -a TRAFFIC VIOLATION subject no less- was an ace move. Way to exert your manliness over a guy who wasn't even questioning it or offering resistance in the least. Now I know why people hate cops. Him insisting I didn't have insurance while looking at my VALID insurance card was cool -he added a 'no insurance' infraction and fine to the ticket (I've had insurance forever). Along with BOTH 'driving with a suspended license AND 'driving without a valid license. Which is it, how can it be BOTH?! So I check my files and sure enough, the ticket that caused my license to be flagged in the first place was for EXPIRED TABS (they expired 9/2010, I got the ticket on 9/8/2010) and was ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF in DEC 2010. I even have the letter from the DOL stating as much. THANKS for the fantastic night, officers and WS DOL -your lack of attention to detail with your OWN paperwork and subsequent over-reaction was FANTASTIC! And really, THREE POLICE CARS to cuff and haul away a guy who was just driving his pregnant wife home from a friend's house? I hope to not visit this establishment again. read more

I actually have no problems at least with this police department, they helped us out when my buddy decided to be stupid in Greenwater, Yes I did get pulled over once by them- but the Police Officer that pulled me over was very professional and I would give him thumbs up, he didn't give me the ticket even though I was speeding. Please don't think the other reviewers are just bitter, law breaking, mad at the cops with a grudge citizens... The Enumclaw court desk/police station really IS that bad! I'm a 30 something, college education, law abiding member of this community and have had nothing but hassle from this city and it's police force! I was pulled over for speeding (oops my bad! I earned this one) and was told to get out of my car???? I had 2 sleeping babies in the vehicle and was just trying to get home before they woke! Then I was told I would be going to jail.., wait, what?!? I had been driving with a suspended license for 2 years?! How is that possible? Unpaid tickets they said! I have proof those tickets were paid off... So I took my proof to court! Turns out another beautiful clerical error on the part of our city's government. I was let go but not after spending $79 to get my license back, having to pay for childcare, call their father from work to pick us up from the side of the road AND have the cop take "mug shots" of me with his camera phone near the side of the road. Yes, you heard that last part right. As my babies waited in the car the officer requested I say cheese while he whipped out his camera phone. I'm fairly sure this is not legit and he is just a creeper who wanted photos of a pretty girl. A few months later we called the police because of a disturbance outside our house. We were told we were outside of city limits (we live next to Mt. peak, 2 miles from Safeway) and would need to call the county police. What?!? I think they are too busy trying to get money from their traffic cops to send any to our house in an actual emergency. Funny because when a drunk driver hit the telephone pole next to our house last weekend 6 Enumclaw officers had no problem crossing that city line This police department is a JOKE. Officer Abel should be fired. The courthouse has a wonderful judge and friendly staff but when dealing with traffic tickets can't seem to correctly file the paperwork causing you more time and money... Coincidence? read more

this police department is much more professional than others I've had contact with. sure they can be a little rough around the edges if you're being a dickhole, but if you're respectful then so are they. I had a friend who was being just that. he did not have a good interaction... but I sure did with the other officer who was there. we were both doing the same thing, walking down the street wearing black in the middle of the night. I guess the person who called 911 said we looked suspicious. neither of us were arrested, but my friend just couldn't shut the eff up. to the people who were pulled over by officer abel... well so was I about a year ago. he was firm and made sure I understood why he pulled me over, but you know what? I was polite and respectful and... no ticket. he gave me a warning. probably because I wasn't immediately argumentative and didn't project the all too typical "fu€k cops vibe." so, if you're up to no good then you probably won't have a very pleasant interaction... because... you know... you're up to no good... and who likes to take responsibility these days anyway? psssh... that's like soooo last century (15 yrs ago). ps - to the lady who lives by mt peak... yeah that is not their jurisdiction. they can't come out there for criminal complaints. unless they're going to back up or assist a county officer. which is probably what they were doing when that person crashed in front of your house. you want a better call response time, since county often has one officer for the entire southeast side and can be on the other side of the county at times... then vote to be annexed into the city. problem solved and you no longer have reason to bit€h and whine about that. as for your suspended license "clerical error?" yeah, if your driving record says you're suspended, how is that the cop's fault again? they aren't there to listen to excuses that I'm sure they hear all the time. you can clear that up later in court, which it sounds like you did. you didn't go to jail, so sounds to me like you got off pretty easy. probably because your kids were in the car and the officer was actually being considerate of that fact. also sounds like your blame should be directed toward the "wonderful judge and friendly court staff" who I'm sure are the ones who actually made that "clerical error" in the first place. and as for assuming the officer's reasoning for taking your picture at the scene... well that's just subjective speculation... kind of like calling yourself a "pretty girl." opinions are like a$$holes, people... and the ones most full of $hit stink the worst. read more
