Every time I go to a new stylist I know I am taking a risk. Margo did not disappoint. She gave me a beautiful cut without taking away the length. It is still down to my waist, just as I requested. Her technique was able to enhance the spiralling of the curls without sacrificing volume. She also patiently told me how I can maintain the look between cuts. I'm glad I took a chance on her, and I will definitely be back anytime I need a trim. While I was quite attached to the stylists who had been cutting my hair in Los Angeles for many years, I am pleased to say that Margo is just as good as some of the top curly hair specialists in Southern California, if not better. My daughter took the day off of work so we can make it, which we probably sat outside for 45 minutes as the salon was closed with a sign saying be back soon. I called and left a message but she returned to say that she didn't realize we were coming and decide to go shopping. No offered to try to make it up to us somehow. We researched who in town would be good to go to for curly hair and had high hopes but we couldn't even get into see this woman. What a waste of time and energy and gas.

I can actually have a conversation with my stylist (who does the best up-do ever!). It's clean with a nice feminine French modern ambience. But it's not pretentious or overly trendy or intimidating. They don't up-sell their products or push the sales but they have nice organic products. It's a very comfortable caring experience and my hair has never looked better! I really have no complaints. It's right beside Jam cafe snd close to Chinatown so you can go for a bite too!

I went there yesterday morning on the hunt for a professional to fix my disastrous highlights that were Orange yellow and Brown. I decided to not damage my hair any more than I had to but to let someone fix it so I could repair it from then on. I was greeted by a really nice receptionist who said there was a stylist availible right then. I met Angela who was very bubbly and pleasant. I discussed how I got into the hair predicament I was in and what I wanted to be done. She seemed to be on the same page of what I wanted, lighter ends darker base. I expressed that I didn't want really dark hair because my boyfriend doesn't find dark hair attractive and I want to be comfortable going from brassy strawberry blonde to a brown colour. She said what I needed was a Victoria Secret look and I was sold. She proceeded to apply a dark brown colour on my roots , but then surprised me when she began to apply it all over my hair. I thought she might leave my already light ends and focal highlights alone instead of dying and then bleaching them again. I felt that this would damage my hair considerably more, but she promised it wouldn't. As she applied the bleach she would pull apart my colour coated strands of hair and I knew then my hair was ripping. After waiting another hour or so , she rinsed me out and began to cut and style. The hair cut went well, she only cut my severely damaged ends and gave me more layers for volume. Then came the part that I felt was completely unnecessary. When styling someone, most hairdressers might consider that if your clients hair is clearly over processed and ripping because of excessive damage that they may have to be very gentle and light handed when brushing. I found Angela to be aggressive in her techniques and she seemed to be rushing because of an appointment she had arriving soon. I felt awkward and uncomfortable as she was yanking my hair so hard that my head was literally being pulled toward her. oddly enough as she was ripping my hair she mentioned that I may need to "baby" my hair which made me think why isn't she taking this into consideration? She dropped her brushes multiple times and even hit me in the head with the blowdryer. Needless to say my hair looked frizzy, dry and off. She tried to make my hair look less damaged by curling it half handedly, but it came out as a slight wave. The apron came off and I felt my hair. it felt almost worse than when I came in , and when I was shown the back of my head I noticed the bad placement of a lone light brown highlight. I paid the 168$ and did not tip as a way of saying I did not enjoy more than half of my experience, and when I got home I made sure to deep condition and promised from then on to always fix my hair disasters at home .

At one point as I was standing in the middle of the salon, I told him no, no, no three times in a row and stared at him. I told him how long I wanted it, with the same cut, just tidying up the ends. My hair was about 1" below my rib cage, layered with lots of natural curl, and of course I have pictures. Now I have all one length, no layers, length is now at my armpit, and my natural curl is virtually gone I am absolutely livid. All these years growing out the length to show off my natural curls and it's all gone. Stay the hell away from this place. If you're the manager, you need to contact me now. The one star apparently is required, but not deserved.

I went there twice, same stylist…read more Maybe it was just the stylist I got, but boy was she disinterested in my hair, which resonated in my poor cut and ugly color. I wasn't prepared for the unprofessional behaviour of staff, apathetic work of the stylist and attitude. Bringing new customers in the door of any business in this economy is a good thing... losing them is not. I won't return.

She listened to my concerns, peppered me with questions about what I wanted, and then told me her suggestions/opinions. 2 hours later I emerged from the salon with incredibly natural-looking and gorgeous hair that I am very happy with. The positive results are honestly a restatement to her knowledge, experience and good rapport with her customers. But the positive experience extended beyond the senior stylist's work. For part of the process I was temporarily handed to a more junior stylist (my hair was taking longer than the appointment time - so the senior stylist had to take care of her next client). The junior stylist was able to take over after just a few short instructions, was incredibly pleasant to chat with, and helped make this colour job a success. I can't emphasize enough that you will be in good hands if you go to the shampoo hair bar. All the people in the salon seemed happy and -in my opinion - were getting their hair done in ways which really suited them.

I think this came down to a communication error during the consultation. If I had known that not lifting the brown areas would lead to a warmer overall color I would have made a different choice. The stylist told me that the toner she would use on my blonde would also tone the red out of the brown so I figured there was no need to lift the brown area. Beyond the color mismatch, my hair was back-combed aggressively, which caused significant damage and made the brushing-out process excruciatingly painful. For a premium service, I expected more care and a more thorough discussion about the possible outcomes. While the owner did reach out afterward to offer a free re-toning, I'm still left with damaged hair and a color I didn't want. Also, keep in mind that they have a strict no refund policy outlined in their forms, which is worth knowing before booking. I hope this feedback helps the salon improve their communication and approach, especially for clients with specific color requests.
