The shop is absolutely chockers full of beautiful dresses for day or night that don't come from the major Australian fashion players. Accordingly, none of the dresses in there look familar from other stores or girls you've seen on the street - I can almost guarantee you will be the only girl rocking that particular dress. The stores stocks dresses for all occasions - the races, a wedding, lunch, work or a night out. The buyer for this store is obviously very, very clever. The girls who work in the store are incredibly helpful and friendly - I told them of the occasion I needed the dress for, and they came back to me with a range of options; so nice! The prices are reasonable - less than $60 for a day dress, and most of the stock comes in at less than $100. I suggest that instead of wearing the same Glassons/Sportsgirl number everyone else is, go to Saffron Road and fall in love with something original.

Don't misunderstand me, I consider Fashion TV a form of penetential torture to be endured while getting my hair cut, I don't think I've ever bought a Vogue, and couldn't care diddly about what the latest skirt length is this season. But beauty earns its own respect. The lady even flashed me a smile as I inched my way into the far room, growing bolder by the moment, but she didn't get off the phone, which was a blessing. I got to run my (very clean, honestly) fingers over the silk, and imagine what these cloudlike suggestions of clothing must feel like to wear. Some were on sale, but no, there's no way I can afford them. But thanks for not running me out, scissors slashing and hurling pins at vital acupuncture points. The children's bean bag sofa chairs ($99) are made by local company Lelbys (really gorgeous these, made from varied tasteful fabrics that you wouldn't mind your own sofa to be made out of). They also had some interesting bead jewelery which wasn't of my tastes but I liked that they were pretty and unique - I imagine they would suit many others tastes. The paper pot plant cards complete with organic seeds and sweet power were lovely. Go hear for gifts made by local designers and their unique creations. Staff are helpful and friendly.

Homewares include bowls, dishes, cups, trinket boxes and small pieces of furniture are handpainted in that 'gypsy caravan' floral style. Thinking I'd be in for a bargain, I snuck in a quick look at what clothes they had on sale. Unfortunately, none of the things there were particularly to my taste - or clothes that I thought I could find cheaper at an arcade store. Then again, the shop caters to a late twenties or thirties market so it's a little out of my age bracket. What I mean by this is they weren't clothes that I'd wear to go clubbing or anything. It's quite a small boutique, right on one of the roads leading to the train station, so I'd expect plenty of commuters walking by. Maybe they'll have better luck than me finding something they like.
