Renting a vehicle usually comes with varying degrees of hassle--whether it's being told there are no available cars when you arrive or being hit with unexpected fees later. In fact, things got so bad that I'm now on Enterprise Rent-A-Car's do-not-rent list. That's a whole other story, but it's also why I found Beep Beep Jeep while planning my 25th wedding anniversary trip with my wife. Sure, I was a bit skeptical when Beep Beep Jeep asked for the full cost of my rental up front months ago when I made my reservation, but honestly, I had little choice but to trust them. Enterprise owns most of the other car rental companies too, and they all share the same list. Beep Beep Jeep was pretty much my last resort--and I'm SO GLAD they were! When Lesty texted to say he was on his way to deliver the Jeep to us at the airport, I couldn't believe my eyes when he showed up. The back seat was filled with gold balloons and a personalized sign congratulating us on our 25th anniversary! But even better, there was an ice chest with Medalla Light and a bottle of champagne in the back! It. Blew. My. MIND! And to top it off, this wasn't just any Jeep Wrangler--it was a fully decked-out Willys edition with huge tires and all the bells and whistles! It was perfect. Lesty handed me the key and... that was it. Nothing to sign, nothing more to do. We just jumped in and drove off. I can't emphasize enough how glad I am that I had that Willys to drive around Puerto Rico. If you've never been to Puerto Rico before, you're in for a bit of culture shock with how people drive here--no one drives (or parks) like they're supposed to, and it's going to freak you out. Trust me. To make things more challenging, most of the roads are quite narrow with little to no shoulder. If you're planning to drive to the middle of the island, like to the Orocovis area, you need nothing less than one of these Jeeps. Trust me on this! The roads are full of blind hairpin turns on the windiest roads you've ever encountered. YOU NEED THIS JEEP! Your life may depend on it. You do not want to be driving these roads with these crazy Puerto Rician drivers in anything less. I cannot say enough about Beep Beep Jeep's service--just perfect. Lesty texted me a few hours before I was scheduled to have him pick up the Jeep and he told me to keep it for the rest of the night. Said he'd pick it up if I just left it in a parking garage in Old San Juan. And that's what I did--with only a half tank of gas (even though it was supposed to be full). I wanted to see if Beep Beep Jeep would hit me with a crazy expensive "fill-up fee," but no--they only charged my card $44.60, which is roughly what it would have cost me to top it off myself. To say I am pleasantly amazed with Beep Beep Jeep is an understatement.

An upgrade with $30 for a SUV or Jeep Wrangler. They will let you pre-pay gas is $47. Gas is about $0.80/liter. $308 for 3 days, a tad expensive for 3 days. They will give us 10% off at the end our drive. Not bad. Rentals are all located on the 2nd floor. Staff on the parking level will tell us what our car will be. Easy to grab and go here. Pick a car in your segment and go. Either a newer Hyundai Elantra or a Kia Forte. Some visible scratches on the hood, back and the right side. It's a bit beat up, but mostly superficial. Not bad so far. Prices are higher than expected or normal for rental. Car is mid-size, low level and not too peppy, but it at least gets us around.

They communicate constantly. I didn't wait for more than two minutes when they showed up with the car and the keys were handed over to me and I was on my way. I kept the first Chrysler Pacifica, which was absolutely perfect brand new and spotless for one week with my family. After my family returned to the US I changed cars to a Honda pilot and that changeover was also seamless. The Honda pilot was brand new spotlessly clean, and performed flawlessly. The Team at Black tie is great. I have a large family and this service made my trip even better. Puerto Rico is great and Black Tie Car Rental is awesome. I highly recommend them to everyone and I'm quite sure that the cost was comparable to the long, hot confusing rental car agencies around Luis Munoz International Airport.
