It is hard for me to express how much I love this place…read more The small room has warm, soothing earth tones, and calms you at once. It smells good. You are surrounded by prime Iberian hams hanging from the ceilings. Friendly people with sharp knives stand behind a counter bearing beautiful glistening hams on wooden mounts; they beckon you to taste. Don't just walk in, buy something and leave. That's misguided at best; perhaps even rude. Tell them you want a single plate of ham with two different kinds. Pick the most expensive one. Gran reserva. Why not? Taste another ham - get that on your plate as well. The pigs ate only acorns while they roamed freely during their dulce vida. You can taste the happy life they lived. Sit at the wooden counter in front of the big mirror. Don't fuss over choosing wine. Ask for a red. They pour it for you. In a loving way. They bring you some spicy cheese to nibble on. Get the tomato bread. They bring you the ham. It's too good to put on the tomato bread. But still, eat the bread by itself. Savor the ham. Drink. Get another glass of wine, maybe two more. This is a singular experience. What I'm saying is, if you feel that going with another person will in any way interfere with the overwhelming sensory pleasure of this place, go alone. Do not go with someone who will try to engage you in unnecessary conversation, annoy you, or distract you. You are good enough, smart enough, and doggone it, you deserve this. I don't think I will ever forget eating here.

Beautiful, high-end iberico ham shop! As soon as you step in, they will ask if you'd like a sample…read moreof their finest iberico ham! And they will give you samples of whatever ham they have out for carving. The gentlemen helping us was very nice and informative. Each piece we had was flavorful and yummy! The ham that was aged longer was easier to chew with less resistance. We decided to purchase the highest quality aged 5 years, which was less salty, but robust in meaty flavor. It was absolutely delicious with rustic French bread from the bakery close to our hotel. If you're sightseeing near Casa Batllo, it's only a 3-5 minute walk around the corner! We're not iberico ham connoisseurs and I'm not sure whether or not we could tell the difference between high end or mid range iberico ham. They're all very good! We probably could have gotten some less pricey ones from the markets and would have been just as satisfied. But nonetheless, it was nice to buy something luxurious to enjoy while in Spain.

Spain is known for eating aged meats. I was recommended this location by my hotel staff, pricing is…read morereasonable and it's near my stay. Busy establishment but quick service, you get called by a number you grab when entering. I purchased goat cheese, Gouda cheese with cumin, cheese with olive oil and jamón to bring back home. Well packaged and delish.

We happened upon Basilica de Santa Maria Del Mar and purchased tickets to go to the top (I know…read morethis is now mixing reviews, but do this). From the top I saw this shop. As we wanted a dinner where we did not go out, I had to go here. After siesta, I returned to shop and the place was packed. The majority of the staff seemed to speak fluent English as I heard a few speaking with non-Spaniards. I conversed in Spanish and the woman that helped me explained a couple of items I was not familiar with and then helped me with an aged manchego, a truffle pecorino, Jamon Iberico and variation of butifarra with pepper on the outside as well as a nice cold bottle of cava. The butcher meat looked incredible with a number of sausages and cuts that I would have loved to have the chance to cook up. This won't be for everyone, some people don't want to deal with not eating out and I get it, but if you want to have a quiet meal that is easy, come get some cured meats and a nice cava. If you've rented a house, come get some great looking cuts and make yourself a meal you won't forget.
