Deli counter near entrance

Love this market!! It's has everything one needs to make dinner and pick up supplies that you need for extended stay in Barcelona. The prices are excellent and the quality of products are excellent. I love their fresh press orange juice and pomegranate juice. As you enter the store, stop by the deli counter to try some Iberian jamon and pick up a few packs to enjoy in your apartment or hotel room. Their fresh baked baguettes are a steal at .45 Euro!! Also, big 1.5 gallons of bottled water is only .42 Euro. Don't bother with the small convenience stores as they charge double for almost everything you can find here. Remember to bring your own shopping bags or you will pay a small fee for bags at the store. Overall, a clean, organized, high-quality supermarket with most everything you might need in Barcelona.

Pulpo! (octopus) in the produce and seafood section downstairs.

This supermarket is a real lifesaver for anyone staying for more than a few nights in the Plaza Catalunya area. Water is critical while walking around BCN in the summer. At one little market on Las Ramblas, we were ripped off for E$2 for a liter of water. I swear the clerk was about to put E$1 right into his own pocket! At Carrefour, we got a giant 5 liter jug for less than E$1. We refilled smaller bottles every day. We also found fair, non-touristy prices on beer, wine, E$4 cava, bread, fruit and an onion tortilla. A tortilla is one of the national dishes which is often served at room temperature throughout the day, not just breakfast. We also found some plastic utensils and paper cups in the deli area. It can be crowded and busy, but just be patient. NOTE: you need to get your fruit weighed and priced in the produce area. They don't do it at the register like in the U.S.

Carrefour is conveniently located along Las Ramblas to stock up for all your grocery needs! As a tourist, my grocery needs is probably snacks, wine, beer, water or Jamon Serrano/Ibérico. You will find here at a non tourist rip off prices which I really appreciate! Definitely worth visiting if you are staying in the hotels in the area to pick up whatever you need.

Nice selection. Staff was helpful. Store was clean and inviting. Cheaper to by Barcelona torrons here than nearby shops.

Great full size market with central location. Has everything you need: deli, meats, vegies, fruit and liquor.

We were staying in an apartment along the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, and since they were self…read morecatering, we needed to find a local grocery store. Of course I checked on Yelp and the Mercadona was at the top of the list. It was also located a few blocks away and easy walking distance. The store is rather large, but from the entrance, one wouldn't think so. They have a great selection of food products and other household items. I picked up a baguette, some jamon (lol), brie and white cheddar cheese, potato chips, and a bottle of wine. Oh, and paper towels, dish soap, and a sponge. It was all pretty reasonably priced. The bread was freshly baked but I'm not sure from where. The jamon and cheese were great! And the brand of chips were pretty good. I scored with the bottle of wine as well. Overall, I was able to recreate a cafe meal for less than the cost at a cafe, with enough left over, except the bread and wine, for another lite meal. Overall, this is a great store to shop at. Much like my Albertson's at home, but better...way better!

I like this Mercadona better than the one near Sants train station (avinguda de Roma). For some…read morereason I feel this one is bigger maybe cause there is two entrances. But anyways workers are nicer here. Well stocked but I guess Spain likes to keep everything stocked well. Make sure you bring your own go green bags. They will charge you for plastic bags. Just a FYI most Mercadona closes at 21:15 which is a lie they close 20:50 or 21:00 always early. I don't know why but don't follow the closing time just get there early. They have street parking (HA) good luck. Or they have a parking garage next door. Not sure if you pay or if they validate it.

When you walk in it has that mixture of smells that you know you're absolutely repulsed by and at the same time thrilled to smell. You know everything in there is fresh; the fruit is fresh, the fish is fresh, the vegetables are diverse and look just picked, and the cheese is amazing. The charcuterie is like a fantasy! This market even has plants for sale as well as flowers and a few additional outlying products. When you walk up to a stall, it's not guaranteed that you're going to get a smile or a happy, "How are you?" But it is guaranteed that you will get good service. Selling the product is the name of the game here. I fully believe that if you are ever in barcelona and you come by this market you should absolutely stop in and see what it's all about. It's one of those rare places that you will be extremely glad that you saw and you'll think about later in life even if you don't buy anything, it's worth a look.

Unlike Boqueria, there aren't that many vendors selling cooked foods/tapas/snacks. Instead, it seemed more like a place where locals did their food shopping. We picked up some strawberries, so this is a good spot to pick up some fresh fruit. There's also a supermarket downstairs. They sell flowers and plants out front, and while I definitely didn't need any flowers, it was still nice to just look at them. If you're staying nearby and want to experience some local vibes, you should check it out. Otherwise, it's probably not worth going out of your way for if you're not looking to buy groceries. Note - they're closed Sundays.
