As someone accustomed to large health-food stores and co-ops in the US, I'll agree with the other reviewers that this place is underwhelming. It's larger than most other bio stores, and because of that I was hoping that it could become a one-stop shop for any eco-friendly or bio products, but their selection is not quite good enough for that.
As others have said, the produce selection is pretty small and sad. However I do go there for some kitchen staples such as olive oil, tamari sauce, broth, where they often have several options in each category and I can weigh cost savings vs. other qualities.
It's one of the few bio shops I have found in this part of town that has a good selection of organic meat and dairy. If you are vegan or avoiding dairy for other reasons, they have quite a few non-dairy yogurts and a huge selection of non-dairy "milks" such as soy, coconut, rice, tiger nut, kamut, buckwheat, quinoa... you can name any grain, nut or seed, and they sell a milk made from it.
I was also really thrilled to see coconut flour there, which is not commonly used here but great as a flour substitute for those with low-carb or gluten-free diets.
They have a decent selection of personal hygiene products and some cleaning products as well, but nothing that makes them stand out amongst other bio shops in these categories.
One thing I like about Veritas is that it's open all day every day, including Sundays, so when I find myself in need of something from the grocery store in the middle of the day (2-5pm) or on a Sunday when most other stores are closed, I go to Veritas. read more
