I've trained under Chris and Mylene for a good while now and not only has my jiu jitsu improved but my overall attitude with how I deal with things has improved. One of the perks of being a member of the Cascao Family of BJJ schools is you can go to the other schools for free. Having heard great things about Chris Engle BJJ I decided to stop by and check it out. The first thing that hit me was how damn friendly everyone was. I had barely cleared the lobby when people were introducing themselves to me and I even got a hug. Also pretty stunning was I saw people's cell phones just laying around and folded clumps of money with them. This gym is so trustworthy people just leave their money lying around! I mean, who is going to steal from a BJJ school, but still. This excellent positive attitude continued through rolling, and if there were egos in the room I certainly didn't see them. The instruction is superb. Chris is very technical and provides excellent detail and advice through everything. One thing I really enjoyed is he was giving me advice on which techniques worked best for my body type which is super helpful as big dudes often have different optimal strategies than smaller dudes. Another great thing Chris did was incorporate little anecdotes from his own journey to help understand the development process. This school is apparently the official/unofficial headquarters for women's BJJ in Vegas and it really shows. Not only was a large percentage of the class female, but Mylene was basically a free bonus instructor for the class. If you haven't heard of Mylene she's a bit of a local legend in BJJ, and she was friendly and helpful as well. If I was a woman I suspect I would feel extremely comfortable and welcome training here. Not a lot of negatives to a school this good, class was so full mat space was at a premium, but with education this good and a very solid community you're going to fill up the mat space pretty quick. Also may have been the New Years Rush (I visited the first Tues in 2017). Highly highly recommended. read more

I absolutely enjoy coming to the gym!! Both prof. Chris and Mylene Engle have created such a strong base of knowledge in jiu Jitsu while creating a good FAMILY environment. My journey to even showing up to class at 1st was difficult because of my personal scdl, and even finding the courage and strength to continue to physically and mentally like it. My siblings and I have innate social sense when going to a new place. We can easily tell how hostile or friendly a gym is. After trying most of the gyms in Vegas, we can unbiasedly say that Chris Engle BJJ is the best gym in town based on 5 C's criterion. 1.) Collegiality This is the most friendliest gym we have ever been to. Everyone is very respectful and welcoming. They will treat you like you have known each other for a long time. Regardless of how friendly everyone is, when class starts, everyone is laser focus when learning the material. The atmosphere is so friendly, you will not feel like you are about to try something life-changing. 2.) Cleanliness Chris Engle BJJ is very particular when it comes to hygiene. Possibly the cleanest gym we've ever been to. Everyone is sensitive and aware of their own belongings and body. The mats are always clean before and after. There are no rules tho, so you will not feel like you have to follow something, everyone just have the same manners which anyone will naturally imitate. 3.) Curriculum There are gyms that has legendary competitors as instructors but not necessarily a good teacher. Well you get both in the gym, Coach Chris and Mylene are both great competitors and teachers, together with Coach Brandon. They explain the Kinesiology, Biomechanics and Physics of Jiujitsu in simple terms. They modify your game based on your body type and personality which we thought were very empathetic and unique. Since most of the guys are competitors, you get the most realistic grappling learning and experience. 4.) Challenge After dozens of trial and error in different gyms, we have finally come to a conclusion that Chris Engle BJJ was the best fit to our needs. As competitors, it is very important for us that we have continuous growth and that we are challenged everyday. Everyone are highly-talented and competitive, but no egos. Just seriously but friendly rolling. The gym will give you the challenge that is sufficient to your previous experience. And they surely will push you and make sure you grow in techniques and in character. 5.) Cost The last but not the least, Cost. We all know how expensive BJJ can be. But Chris Engle BJJ is so affordable. Doing Jiujitsu with two other siblings are very costly, but the membership is very affordable. When we signed up, we were asked how long we want the membership to be (for 6 months or for a year) which I answered "forever." You will never want to leave the gym once you try it. Considering the experience and knowledge, you get more than what you will pay for. Of course, there's no other way to find out if my experience will be the same as yours, but to try it. I started my Jiu Jitsu journey after securing job in law enforcement. I figured BJJ would help me in situations that become physical. The whole word of mouth thing took play and I found myself stepping on the mat for the first time at Chris Engle BJJ a year and a half ago. I was in contact with Mylene a week before I started, so my first day she let me borrow a gi for my free week. Needless to say I fell in love with the art. Due to my hectic training schedule for work and my at the time 1 year old son I was not able to train as much as I would have liked and actually took months off at a time. The anxiety and doubts kicked in every time I was able to make class. Am I still welcome? Am I a bad student? Do they understand why I can't train as much? Etc.... Let me assure you that every single time I would go back to class I felt nothing but encouragement and friendship. It took about a year for my training schedule to become what I wanted. Now I train a few times a week with the most amazing people I've ever met and have competed twice. I have never come across an ego or someone that made me feel like a measly little white belt. I'm part of a frmaily (friendship + family) that continues to grow. Chris is an amazing coach and person, you can hear the passion when he talks and teaches.
