Very welcoming and comfortable 4-night stay in the Lancaster Room! If we travel to Abilene again, will definitely return!

I stayed at this Inn the night before visiting the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum. This…read moreInn is definitely in the perfect location as far as proximity to the Museum goes - it's just down the street. Perfect! The Inn prefers that you check in during a certain time period so they can ensure they're there to greet you. I had a meeting that resulted in a late arrival on my part, so I called ahead to let them know when I would be arriving and they accommodated easily and kindly. When you arrive, you park at the back of the residence, but you enter at the front of the residence. Those with mobility issues should take note and plan ahead for that. Along that same line, this property does not appear to be wheelchair accessible. All of the rooms I saw were upstairs and the entrance required several stairs to access the porch. However, I may have just not seen other options - calling ahead to ask may be best to make sure. I was greeted by Adrian, who checked me in and showed me around. She was very attentive about what I could/would eat for breakfast the next morning, which implies a lot of experience on her part and being conscientious about not wasting food. I definitely appreciated that. I stayed in the Hurd Room, which was perfect for my needs. I was there in October and the room had a small space heater provided for use, which I was very very grateful for. I know that I'm more sensitive than most to cooler temperatures, so while most people would probably have been fine, I appreciated being able to make the room fit my preferences on my own. There is a large array of movies that you can borrow to watch, most of which are older and asking classic lines which is nice to take a step back and enjoy. There were also cookies and tea available through the evening. I've seen other reviews and noted myself that some bathroom areas can be quite small. However, I saw that as a result of converting Victorian spaces into modern lodging areas. Areas were simply smaller in that era than we're used to now and keeping the integrity of the space has the natural result of cozier accommodations. I personally didn't mind any of it, but I can see how others might. The bed was comfortable, but be aware that this is a typical Kansas town that was built around a railroad station. So trains still run through there very frequently and at all hours of the night. If that will disturb your sleep, plan accordingly. I honestly don't think you can stay anywhere near the museum without that aspect. Breakfast the next morning started with a yogurt, fruit, and granola parfait. Adrian makes the granola herself on site. The entree for that morning was French toast with a fruit reduction and bacon. It was very nice. Overall, it was a very nice stay in a historic home with prices very comparable to any local hotel.

What did I appreciate: lots of hot water in shower, a chair and light in room for reading, breakfast, location near downtown ( walking distance to restaurants). No serious complaints, except the bed was hard for my tastes. Suggestions: spruce up the room a bit by adding a pleasant bed cover. I just read another review and am appalled to hear they screen for "traditional couples only". If that's not true, please tell me and I will eliminate this comment. If it's true , I'm sorry to have supported your business with my stay

It is a little farm oasis right in the heart of the Little Apple and just a stone's throw from the KSU Alumni Center and Student Union. We stayed in the Van Maanen suite, which was very private and comfortable. The mattress was SO comfortable! It's also the perfect size for a family of 4! Breakfast was homemade, delicious, hearty, balanced, and ample, with a variety of drink offerings and plenty of coffee! I highly recommend the Anderson B&B and hope to stay again some time!

You'll never run out of chocolate chip cookies or wine, so if those are things you enjoy, the Anderson's have got you covered, on the House. Breakfast in the morning was divine, we had homemade waffles, made from scratch Keesh, biscuit and gravy casserole and fresh fruit each day. Some days we ate at the crack of dawn others right before lunch time, you just let them know when you want to eat and your place will be set and if your up in time, the candles will still be lit! We stayed in the Van Mannen suite, it was spacious and well thought out, the shower was perfect size with a super high shower head which pleased my man of 6'5" who did not have to crouch to shower :) the bed is memory foam and delightfully comfy with lots of pillows to choose from. I'd recommend this place to anyone, and we plan to stay again this April for the Fort Riley Military Ball. Thanks Dawn and Phil, for a great experience!

Sofie and I enjoy the B&B places to get a flavor of the area. A good B&B will allow one to sit with the natives, have conversation and enjoy their hospitality. For that, I'd never serve up less than 5 stars when I am hosted by good and kind people. Country Dreams Bed & Breakfast is "far from the madding crowd"... or at the end of a 2 mile dirt road where the sounds you will hear are cows lowing and frogs croaking. We were treated to a fine sunset in the evening. We enjoyed walking about looking at the long horns and seeing the pond change colors at twilight, sundown and sunset. It was a natural show that gave me pause to think: this happens every day! We came back from our walk to discover some warm cookies waiting for us on the table! They were especially delicious because we had no dinner. This place is not at all close to any restaurants - so plan on eating before you get there or bring something to make a sandwich with. There were some movies and a player in the community area, so we watched the Walk the Line movie about Johnny Cash. Nice. I always wanted to see that movie while we ate nuts and cookies. Breakfast was fun talking with the family - 3 generations discussing the days events. Country Dreams is a nice place to spend the night, but more important, it's an experience.
