I signed up for their plumbing protection plan. When I actually had a leak they said the earliest they could send someone out was 2 weeks. Clearly, I was not going to wait that long to fix a leak and had to call a plumber to come right away. I think that would be okay except after calling customer service to cancel my plan with them which I felt was not useful if I had to wait 2 weeks for a leak I was met with them stating I signed a contract for a year. I guess the contract only matters to them when it comes to having to pay them for a year. I asked the manager if there was something they could do about charging me an entire year because I had to pay a plumber. His response was "I didn't tell you to call a plumber." I told him to send me the bill and his response was "good luck with that." Save yourself the headache and just call a plumber that will come right away instead of paying Enercare monthly. read more

Please google COMPETITION BUREAU & Enercare. Enercare has a fascinating history with them. It's a must-read if you're thinking of signing a contract with Enercare. THEY HIRE CONTRACTORS WHO EITHER AREN'T COMPETENT ENOUGH TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR A PROBLEM THE FIRST TIME OR WHO DON'T WANT TO SPEND THE TIME NEEDED TO DO A JOB RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. Over the years when I've had so-called Enercare protection plans, I (a) have had to make multiple phone calls & service appts over weeks to address each problem; b) have had to wait OVER 2 WEEKS to get air conditioning repaired under warranty during a HEATWAVE; c) have listened to the toilet run for days; d) know they'll never have the right part in the truck; e) have waited a week with water leaking on my basement floor while one contractor after another blamed a different piece of equipment for the leak (air conditioning condenser vs water heater); f) have had to listen to scripted excuses from customer service as to why they can't help me. Enercare's comeback was that I didn't have to pay "extra" money for all the extra service visits required (due to their incompetence). What?! Why did I wait this long to write a review? They stiffed me for a furnace and a/c maintenance last year. That's the straw that broke the camel's back. I canceled my Enercare "protection plans" about a year ago. Next, I plan to cancel my annual a/c and furnace maintenance. read more

Terrible service. I came home early for an evening appointment for repair of my rental water heater and waited around for the technician and he never showed up. I called at the end of the time frame and they'd claimed he'd come and I wasn't home, but I was home. They never phoned either as they promised they do before arriving and my call display confirms that. Then they told me the first time slot in the morning wasn't available and I'd have to take time off from work the following afternoon or wait another 24 hours without hot water. I told them I'd get a new water heater from a different company if they didn't come and they still refused to book me in. When a company screws up, on service, I expect them to work harder to fix it, but these guys just refused to even acknowledge their problem. read more

Wow, came here to make post about how bad this company is. Reading these posts i can see why. Let me share my story. My parents. Dad 88, Mom 80 with cancer had a Gas Leak from their water take which they rent of Enercare. Gas company was called in and shut the Gas off becuase of the risk. Gas company Enbridge confirms leak is from the Water Tank. I tell my parents to replace the water tank immediately so they can get gas back in the house (Dec) to get heat in the house. My parents then get a bill of $530 for the month of December for gas usage. They have never paid over $150. Again Enbridge confirms the usuage was so high due to the leak and that Enercare should compensate my parents. I agree with this as my parents have been renting their tank for over 30 years. So naturally i think that Enercare would be supportive as they know the Water Tank was faulty and at least cover some of the bill. Nope, Nothing!. When i called trying to get support i spent over 16hrs and 3 days of being transfered to Mexico, Texas, San Antonio, and then back to Canada only to be told there is nothing they can do. If you are a customer thinking about using Enercare, DON"T!!! It will be one of the biggest mistakes you make and will regret it. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!. read more

Two weeks no heating in -20c freezing temperatures. Enercare wouldn't even honour their service contract. Total scam company that has zero honesty or integrity. Avoid at all costs. Had to move out because of the cold. Ordered a part to be delivered to the house as they refused to have it delivered to their office. It gets worse this story but what's the point. Bottom line, if you use their service you deserve to be left in the cold as enercare needs to be renamed to doesn't care about their customers. read more

Received very poor service from Enercare. My emergency was definitely not their priority. My hot water tank that I own was not working so I called for service. Next day with a four hour waiting period I got a guy who hmmm and hawwwed about what might be the problem and then he cleaned the sensor to the tune of $250.00 The next day I was without hot water again!!!!!!!!!! On the follow up four hour window appointment he said the tank needs to be turned by a gas fitter/plumber before he could repair it. Again my emergency was definitely not his priority. SO I called another company... Husky heating and air conditioning who came out within half an hour and replaced my gas valve in the space as it was. They were very professional and efficient. I would definitely stay far away from any service technicians from Enercare. because they obviously don't care about your problems! read more

Terrible service. My Furnace Blower motor go off. Part was ordered after one week another engg came and he dismental the whole furnace, now rather replacing furnace they are asking for furnace to purchase saying Heat Exchanger might be cracked, and it is 25 year old. When I told I will not buy from them they have tagged my furnace with Legal code. Where they were not able to prove what is wrong. even furnace was perfectly fine. No Carbon Mono oxide level up according to their maintenance staff. Only blower need to be replaced. ANy way I agree for having funrance to be replaced with my own comfort until Next winter. As in april it was about to a summer season. Engg confirmed that I may take 3- 4 months for New furnace. And ALso confirmed my Cooling system is perfectly fine (HIs name was Jose - called himself 30+ year experience very sr person) When I called Cooling maintenance they came and said that Whole furnace has been dismental so AC can not work though device is good. Suggested me to call Service team, to reconnect Blower so that AC will work (Keeping Furnace heat exchanger Off) but I called service maintenance, after 4 days received appointment. I some how managed in this summer waiting for this day. He came today and without telling anything within 5 sec he came out and told my manager will call and he ran away, saying "Don't waste my time". Without giving any explanation, and telling anything unprofessionally he left. After 2 hours waiting in queue, connected with customer care. they don't have any solution. I am not able to understand, due to Tag my Heat will not be operational but why they shutdown my cooling. Really Pathetic. THey kept on the path where I have to replace furnace immediately and they have disconnected my cooling system as well without any reason. I am going to file a legal complaint against them in small court. I would request rather going in this trap better to connect with Handyman for any repair work, they will come faster and always available on demand. With Enercare we will pay for inviting more trouble. read more

So a word of advice to people who get their furnace inspected by Enercare Home Services - these people are crooks and I will never do business with them again. Technician came in and shut the furnace down and proceeded to tell me was not safe - crack in the heat exchange - and it was lucky we did not have a leak. Advised it's better to replace furnace. Just so happens there is an Enercare sales rep in the area willing to give us a quote that very same night ! A quote of $5000 I would like to add . Well 2 inspections later furnace is in perfect condition - absolutely no carbon monoxide leaking levels were Zero in fact. Service call was $100 and furnace got a clean bill of health ! Get a second opinion is all I can say - Enercare has quite a scam going - absolutely disgusted in their business practises. read more

Thier ads say if you need repair on your new water heater you'll have repair coverage in 24hours. I was first quoted a 4 DAY wait with an infant in the house. When I called back they made an appointment for the next day without hassle. Super suspicious. Then, the repair would need a part that would be delivered the next morning. 48 hours without hot water. They call me that afternoon saying the part will be delivered. To. My. House. Then I'd have to wade through thier automated phone system to reschedule a technician for another ridiculous 4 hour wait. Do not believe Thier lies, do not fall for Thier quotes. If I could rank 0 I would. read more

Worst customer service ever. They put you on hold for half an hour 3 times during and 1.5 hours call. Ask a million of questions and at the end the call is interrupted and you have to start all over again. If you want to save your nerves and stay sane DO NOT use Enercare. read more
