It never rains in Southern California. Beautiful October weather makes for a lovely train ride from SanDiego and back. $6.50 gets you there one way vs. a $35 Lyft. Made a candle and had some gelato. Who could ask for anything more. The trains are very clean and the process as a whole was easy.

Couldn't have asked for a more convenient location for my home station. There's plenty of parking and it's less than a block away from a bar, (D-Street) coffee, (multiple spots) several restaurants, and a 7-11. Although the coaster doesn't run as frequently as I'd want it to, there's plenty within stones throw to keep you preoccupied before the train comes. The station itself is super clean, has several vending options, and is really easy to purchase a ticket right on site if you haven't pre-paid. There's also bike storage on site so it makes it even easier to reduce your carbon footprint by locking up your wheels for the day. If you hate battling bad traffic and live in the Encinitas area you could do a lot worse than waiting an hour and a half to pick up the Coaster here.

Trust those who Yelp regularly... Convenient location with easy drop-off & pick-up. Good space in the parking lot, and the trains are "normally" close to being on time. Recommended over driving for sure

Clean, convenient station, parking available, no bathrooms. Amtrak train don't stop here, there is busses on one side of this station. Easy ride north and south to wherever you want to go. You can buy your ticket at the machine, it takes credit cards and cash, it might take a few tries to navigate the menu for 1st time riders. Schedule is posted on the board or go online to find all the info you need. This station is within walking distance from the beach, library, restaurants and bars. It gets cold, windy during the winter in the evening. No alcohol, food and smoking on the train.

This is your typical train station, albeit small and right in the heart of Encinitas. Whether you're coming to Encinitas or leaving it, you'll find that walking to nearby business and eateries is convenient and fun! A few tips: there are several sizable lots around the coaster station -- one directly east and one directly west of the tracks. The lot that is west of the tracks is mainly 1 hour parking, so be sure to avoid that lot or be aware of the signage if you are parking for the day. There are also two parking lots just south of the station. Be aware that Amtrak trains frequently buzz through this station without stopping. They are loud but fast! Be sure to pay for a ticket at one of the two kiosks -- the patrol has been stepped up and they are asking people for tickets when you board or while you are in travel. If you don't have a ticket, you can get a citation for up to $300! Way easier to just pay $4 to ride! Since there is only one track, you'll know where to board. If you get there early enough, a coffee station is at the far south corner of the station. If not, go get breakfast or lunch before you ride. All aboard!!!! I wish they said that when they stopped at every station, that would be hilarious. Unfortunately those people have been replaced with coaster patrol, who profile you as you get on the train...which isn't really a bad thing as long as they are looking out for the health and safe of the passengers. Anyway make sure you get there more than a few seconds before the train comes because you have to buy a ticket before you get one or else!!! I heard some people getting in trouble for not having a ticket and they said its a $400 ticket! So make sure you give yourself time to navigate that stupid machine they have because there is usually a line. Not only is there a line, but when the train gets close and people are under pressure they can't seem to figure out how to use the machine...happens every time. The coaster needs to step up its game and do something about the stupid ticket machine, we have technology! Let's make an app that allows you to buy your ticket electronically please, I heard it was coming soon, but I'll believe it when I see it! Oh yeah, NO DRINKING ON THE COASTER AFTER 9PM

    Hey!! Where's the train?

I had anxiety riding the Amtrak because I had never taken it before, but an experienced young student from UCSD gave me the 411 about the train and he helped this old man navigate my first train trip. I started at the Solana Beach train station and took a scenic, relaxing, no stress, and non-traffic congestion ride to Union Station Los Angeles. After my first trip, I'm sold on taking train rides to Los Angeles. The Solana Beach train station is obviously located in Solana Beach just a short walk from the beach, it's across from a plaza where you can grab a bite from Chief's Burgers & Brew, and a stroll to Pizza Port on the west side of the tracks. The main reason I chose the Solana Beach station was that you can park your car in their free public parking lot over the weekend. There is plenty of parking at this station. There are two tracks here at this station. Track 1 is southbound and Track 2 is northbound. If you're traveling to Los Angeles, take the elevator down to the waiting area for Track 2. There aren't that many concrete benches to sit on, so expect to stand while you're waiting for the train. I purchased my Amtrak ticket from the Amtrak website where you can choose to ride Coach for $31 one way to Union Station or Business Class for $46. I highly recommend taking Business Class because for $15 extra, you'll have a higher chance to have a seat, the seats are more comfortable, you have more space, and you get free snacks and drinks. When I got to my business class seats, I noticed that there were many riders who had a snack box. When I went to grab some snacks and drinks, they had run out of the snack box. All they had left at the time were Goldfish crackers, sodas, and water. One of the train staff was able to find extra snack boxes and I was able to grab one. The snack boxes come with pretzels, beef jerky, fruits and nuts, a mini fig bar, and cheese spread. A good snack to hold you down until your last stop. During my trip, I saw beautiful sights, really cool stops, Angel stadium, and I didn't have to worry about navigating through LA traffic. It only took a little over 2 hours to go from Solana Beach to Union Station. I really enjoyed my first Amtrak trip, the comfort of it, the beauty, the free snacks, and the stress-free experience.

It was a guys' trip from Murrieta to Palos Verdes to play golf... the best way to do the drive and enjoy the day. I would highly recommend Celebrate Party Limo for any kind of special limo usage. Unfortunately, no sharing our bad karaoke singing videos in the limo or our "tired eyes" after a long golf day. Everything lives on the internet forever, and no one wants to see that! ;-)
