With my coaster trip from San Diego to Encinitas for the station was one that had not changed for the station the surroundings of the station. WS one that was not well organized . The coaster station doesn't have security with the bus terminal for the city buses the buses come for short period and leave. When I had arrived the walk through the city and the main street of Highway 101 there were many places rundown and the parks you would see of the many migrants. The Coaster station is only one track with two tracks that one waits the other passes for the station is not one you be after hours. The few restaurants nearby for the main street of of the city finding that the restaurBtz and the stores have been found selling alcohol to underage the sale of fentanyl the dangerous illegal drug . The train station they do have many of the buses that take you up into the many of Oceanside and the connection with the 101 that takes you back to UTC Mall in Lajolla. The security was of the police that were patrolling up and down the main street for the station there is no security for the terminal. Travel to the many stations you will find many of the buses with the security of the stations needs to have business people traveling. The Encinitas Coaster Station is clean and conveniently located. Just a block or so from restaurants, bars and such. If you drive, there is a large parking lot. If you bike, there are bike lockers. We jumped on the Coaster at the Carlsbad Village station and took the train ride to Encinitas to hit some spots there. The Coaster provided a quick, comfortable and cheap ride. The Encinitas Station was the perfect place to drop us off and to pick us up. We pre-paid for our tickets, but there are ticket kiosks at both the Carlsbad and Encinitas stations for on-site purchase. read more

It never rains in Southern California. Beautiful October weather makes for a lovely train ride from SanDiego and back. $6.50 gets you there one way vs. a $35 Lyft. Made a candle and had some gelato. Couldn't have asked for a more convenient location for my home station. There's plenty of parking and it's less than a block away from a bar, (D-Street) coffee, (multiple spots) several restaurants, and a 7-11. Although the coaster doesn't run as frequently as I'd want it to, there's plenty within stones throw to keep you preoccupied before the train comes. The station itself is super clean, has several vending options, and is really easy to purchase a ticket right on site if you haven't pre-paid. There's also bike storage on site so it makes it even easier to reduce your carbon footprint by locking up your wheels for the day. If you hate battling bad traffic and live in the Encinitas area you could do a lot worse than waiting an hour and a half to pick up the Coaster here. read more

Clean, convenient station, parking available, no bathrooms. Amtrak train don't stop here, there is busses on one side of this station. Easy ride north and south to wherever you want to go. You can buy your ticket at the machine, it takes credit cards and cash, it might take a few tries to navigate the menu for 1st time riders. Schedule is posted on the board or go online to find all the info you need. This station is within walking distance from the beach, library, restaurants and bars. It gets cold, windy during the winter in the evening. No alcohol, food and smoking on the train. read more

Great location - it is only a couple of blocks from Moonlight Beach, and directly adjacent to really great food, gift shops, and surf shops. I used to live just up the hill from here and this is where I would drop off my visitors in the morning on my way to work if they were leaving on a weekday. It is also where we took the train when heading to downtown San Diego to catch a Padres game. The train is super nice and the station is comfortable and clean - much like the rest of Encinitas. This is your typical train station, albeit small and right in the heart of Encinitas. Whether you're coming to Encinitas or leaving it, you'll find that walking to nearby business and eateries is convenient and fun! A few tips: there are several sizable lots around the coaster station -- one directly east and one directly west of the tracks. The lot that is west of the tracks is mainly 1 hour parking, so be sure to avoid that lot or be aware of the signage if you are parking for the day. There are also two parking lots just south of the station. Be aware that Amtrak trains frequently buzz through this station without stopping. They are loud but fast! Be sure to pay for a ticket at one of the two kiosks -- the patrol has been stepped up and they are asking people for tickets when you board or while you are in travel. If you don't have a ticket, you can get a citation for up to $300! Way easier to just pay $4 to ride! Since there is only one track, you'll know where to board. If you get there early enough, a coffee station is at the far south corner of the station. If not, go get breakfast or lunch before you ride. This is a very clean nice station however the reason I'm giving it 1 star is bc there vending machine rips you off , I slid my card 3 times it ran up as 0$ and zero items selected even though I kept pushing water and no water came out but it charged me three times .. I don't know where else to right a review like this and when I told my Friend she said the same thing happened to her so you guys should have machine that actually work ! Had our first visit to the Encinitas Coaster Station recently and thought I'd share my experience. When we hopped on the Coaster we wondered where should we stop to explore? How do we know what is near each station? Well, we found out by stopping and checking it out. When you exit the train in Encinitas, you're basically right smack in the middle of Encinitas and in walking distance to plenty to do! We walked the three blocks down to the beach to take a peek. Note that if you are going to the beach right here, you'll have a long staircase to get down to the sand, but it's a nice beach! The station is a block off of Coast Hwy and you can walk in either direction to go exploring... there are plenty of restaurants and bars up and down the highway, not to mention some cute shops. If you head south far enough, you can reach the Self Realization Fellowship Hermitage & Meditation Gardens. In other words, there is lots to do in walking distance from this station, so if you're wanting a place to stop on your Coaster route, Encinitas is a great stop. read more

All aboard!!!! I wish they said that when they stopped at every station, that would be hilarious. Unfortunately those people have been replaced with coaster patrol, who profile you as you get on the train...which isn't really a bad thing as long as they are looking out for the health and safe of the passengers. Anyway make sure you get there more than a few seconds before the train comes because you have to buy a ticket before you get one or else!!! I heard some people getting in trouble for not having a ticket and they said its a $400 ticket! So make sure you give yourself time to navigate that stupid machine they have because there is usually a line. Not only is there a line, but when the train gets close and people are under pressure they can't seem to figure out how to use the machine...happens every time. The coaster needs to step up its game and do something about the stupid ticket machine, we have technology! I recently took my daughters on their first train ride from Encinitas into San Diego. We had a blast! The train was on time, clean and super fast. The price of a ticket was quite reasonable and the best part was that I didn't have to worry about parking in downtown San Diego. It would be perfect if the coaster ran 24/7 so you could rest easy & enjoy the nightlife instead of rushing to catch the super early last coaster headed south. It sucks that the Southbound coaster doesn't run past like 7-8pm most days & the last bus heading southbound from Encinitas is the 101 towards La Jolla at like 9:15pm on Saturdays (not sure how late the 101 runs on other days)- besides that you have to wait until the next morning 2 catch a ride in that direction unless you uber or Lyft which is too pricey for traveling that kind of distance. & there are no outlets to charge electronics anywhere near the station or on the coaster itself, which you would think would be readily available for travelers- so that's a hassle too, if you don't know your way around completely & devices die out on you during your travels- you can get all panicky/stranded/confused especially at night which is not ideal. It would be less stressful, totally convenient, & flawless if there were ample places to charge electronics & the train was 24/7 or at least had more late night arrival times like SDSU, were public transportation comes thru well past midnight- besides that, it's a solid station. The location of the station is super convenient though- right in the middle of everything. read more

It's local, convient, and clean. Unfortunatly the card readers on the ticket machines are iffy. (I've been in a couple of clutch situations where I almost missed a train beacuse of the thing.) There are no bathrooms but if you ride in the morning there is a coffee vender there everyday. (Coaster coffee; $1.75 for a small and $2.00 for a large). They have vending machines but they are over priced and not really worth it. Trains are pretty much on time the majority of the time. read more

Clean and safe station in a nice part of town, great location to drop off if you are coming to explore Encinitas by foot from other parts of town. Clean, trains seem to be on time, but parking can be difficult at times so leave extra time to find a parking spot, which could be a few a few blocks down the street. I prefer the on on Vulcan across from F street. Ticketing is self serve and easy to follow. There are schedules to take with you near ticketing as well. read more

Pretty standard as far as smaller train stations go. I really don't care at all except this is where the Coaster leaves me for my yoga classes at the Jois Yoga Shala. The Amtrak whizzes through here at blistering speeds and I predict that someday there will be a horrendous accident here. read more

Please please replace that crazy ticket machine ! I love the Encinitas Train Station, don't get me wrong, but that small silver ticket machine drives me crazy ! It is difficult to see/understand because the User Interface is terrible ! And what is up with the card reader? You try to pay and the transaction keeps timing out... With all the great technology out there it should be so much better... Please replace that thing soon !! (I know, I know, just use the Compass Cloud! I do use that, but my friends and family that come to town don't have it and constantly get hung up at that ticket machine... Help !! read more

I always take the train, especially the Coaster. Encinitas is a day cation for me. Take the train up ,stay and play, and ride it back down. Be aware. Amtrak Surfliner does not stop here. It stops just one stop south in Solana Beach. Also, AMTK goes by here at 90 M.P.H, and once I saw a man almost get hit by one. Just a few seconds from death. This station is standard. Well, I'm pretty impressed with the later running trains on Fridays and Saturdays. It makes a trip to San Diego or the track much simpler. The atmosphere is nice and clean. The free wi-fi is a nice touch. I've even gone to the airport by Coaster with the shuttle outside the train station in SD, way less stressful than driving in rush hour traffic. I look forward to more trips on the train and hope they add more times to the schedule. read more
