En Place is another food truck I have overlooked. It has more of a selection than you think it would. The name sounds like it specializes in French cuisine. It has some more accessible items like chicken sandwiches actually. They also have a few vegetarian items. I had the sprout sandwich. It was about $7 for the entire meal. The sandwich was pretty good tasting but it was nothing that set it apart. It was average at best. This is usually located near the Nationwide building on High Street. It's a good stop if you're working and you're already there. The service is fast when compared to other trucks. I would like to get something else from En Place. It was not too bad. Horrible! Wow I can't believe how bad this truck was. First of all they were late to location, whatever maybe traffic. Second it took over 30 minutes to get our food. We were order number 3. Third the staff was incredibly rude. I went out to ask how much longer and was greeted with attitude from both people on the truck. There was no consideration for the fact that we had waited so long. I'm loving this food trucks menu. It's not super large, but all of the items are things that I would enjoy for the most part. I had a tough time picking between the spicy chicken and the buffalo chicken sandwich. Ultimately, I ended up going with the buffalo chicken, since the guy convinced me it was the most popular. I'll find them again to try the spicy one, so I'm not worried. All of their sandwiches come with fries, and mine was up and ready within 5-7 minutes and piping hot. The bun and chicken were fantastic as was the bleu cheese dressing, although I'm not sure if I liked it combined with the cheddar cheese. Overall, I really loved that sandwich. The surprise here was how amazing the fries are. These were some of the best food truck fries I'd had in awhile, and they barely made it back to work with me. They do have some rotating specials on a board in front of the truck, so they'll always have more than what's listed on the website. We were having beers at CBC. We felt super fortunate that En Place was the food truck parked outside on a random Sunday. When you are drinking beer, it often happens that you get hungry, the same thing happened to us. We ventured outside and we were greeted by the sole person in the food truck. By the way he carried himself, I imagine he is the very owner of the truck. He was great. Extremely friendly and helpful. I ordered up the Bok Choy and cabbage salad. I added chicken for an additional cost. My fiance ordered a single burger. We didn't realize that the "crack fries", yes that is what they are called, come with the burger. We also ordered crack fries ($3). The gentleman working the truck was so kind by delivering out lunch to us inside the brewery as oppose to making us go back outside to pick it up. Or worse, waiting outside in January in the cold. The first thing I noticed when the food was delivered is that the portions are so big. We definitely did not need the side of fries, but when you see how many fries you get for $3, that is amazing. And then when you try the "crack fries", you realize why they call them crack. You can't just have one, you want all of them, they are so good. My salad was huge, topped with a heaping pile of chicken. Underneath the chicken was bok choy, bell peppers, carrots, noodles, onion, and peanuts with a yummy Asian dressing. The ingredients were fresh and delicious. My fiance seemed to enjoy his burger, because it was gone in just minutes. We snacked on the fries throughout the rest of our visit to the brewery. I lucked out last night and was able to experience En Place at the remodeled and rebranded SAVOR Pint (formerly SAVOR Market) on Indianola Ave in Clintonville. Created by former executive chef of Columbus Fish Market, Nic Piccin, this truck's menu is definitely worth checking out. Had the Confit Pork Belly Sliders & Fries for $12. The pork belly itself was more meaty than fatty, which was very nice, and the aroma was fantastic. The pork was on a toasted bun topped with jalapeno jam with a small amount of cilantro micro greens. The jam was more sweet than spicy which complimented the pork. I didn't taste the cilantro in the greens. The rich taste of the meat and jam definitely took precedence while the fries were very basic-no seasoning or accents, other than a side of ketchup. Even though this truck is known for sometimes having oysters they didn't last night. Perhaps it's seasonal. Vegans and vegetarians can also rejoice with the omnivores for even though the menu is small it caters to you too! The only drink available was bottled water, which I passed on. There is a new food truck spot by my office with rotating vendors and I am trying them all out. So far, this is my favorite. I got "The Salad" - organic field greens, red bell peppers, carrots, red onions, snap peas, and udon noodles, tossed in a sesame ginger peanut dressing, garnished with crushed peanuts and sliced scallions. It is so good! The dressing especially is awesome. The staff was very friendly and they had my food out to me in under two minutes. They do take cards, so no worries if you don't have cash on you. Have ate at En Place three times, pork belly slider twice and Buffalo Chicken sandwich twice. I had to buy two entrees so I could take them home for my fiance to try. Pork belly sliders transcend all divisions in humanity, it is perfectly crusted, tender and moist. Jalapeno jam is not spicy and adds a perfect tang that makes irresistible - two will fill you up with fries. Buffalo Chicken sandwich is breaded and sauced to perfection, covered in buffalo sauce but not messy. Probably one of the best-kept secrets among foodies/truckies who crave high quality (Chef Nic was former exec chef at Columbus Fish Market!) - we've found them at New Albany Farmer's Market lately.
