Small collection of En Garde wines

We stopped by on a whim and we are so glad we did! We were greeted by Skip, who told us all about the history of this great wine, and the story of the winemaker from Hungary. Skip served us a round of two Pinots and two Cabs as well as a straight Franc. Very unusual wines. We purchased some.

I have heard great things about En Garde wines, and the rumors were true! The wine was so smooth and delicious that I ended up buying more bottles to give out as gifts to clients. But what made the experience even better, was the excellent customer service I received. Jay from En Garde was so willing to help with not only my wine needs but offered his assistance in things to do around Sonoma. I very much appreciated everything he did to make my experience in Sonoma wonderful. You will not be disappointed with En Garde Wine.

Wine tasting here is a truly pleasant experience. We came when there was no one else there (it's a pretty small boutique in a remote area so I'm sure that's not uncommon) and so we had a private, intimate tasting. It's a bit pricey at $20 per tasting but the quality of the wines definitely justifies it. Really all of the ones we tasted were lovely and we ended up buying quite a few of the Tempranillo (great wine and price point). You aren't rushed at all or pressured by sales pitches, just simply there to relax and have some delicious wine. And that we did.

Love this place. Amazing wines.

We've loved En Garde since their days in the East Bay. We were excited to have stumbled upon their Sonoma home and forgot how wonderful their wines are. Fell in love with the Tempranillo and brought home a few bottles to enjoy. Definitely miss having them close by but glad to see they're doing so well in the real wine country. Christine was awesome and we enjoyed her company and taking us through the tasting!

Good stuff! Can I just leave it at that? Met the winemaker and he is really nice. The Cabernets at this winery is one of my faves. Stop by and check it out when in Sonoma.

Chateau St. Jean was the venue of my good friend Sarah's wedding on 06/14/2025. This beautiful…read morewinery is located in the small town of Kenwood, which is on the north end of the Sonoma Valley. The history of this winery can be traced back to the 1920s, when a rich mining family moved west from Michigan and purchased the land where it sits on. The winery business actually started in the 1970s by several businessmen from the San Joaquin Valley. 50+ years later, it remains one of the more recognizable names in the NorCal wine industry. I got here with my buddy David A. and his wife at around 4:15pm. The first thing that struck me was the tranquility. I was dealing with a major protest in my city that morning, so the peacefulness was truly appreciated by me. Aside from that, nature's beauty was on full display. The sky was blue, the hills were green, and the temperature was a perfect 72F. Sarah couldn't have asked for a better day to have her wedding! The ceremony was held in a covered area near the chateau, with seating set up for 100-150 guests. After the ceremony, a pre-reception cocktail party was held in the courtyard area. After about an hour or so, the dinner reception was held under the giant palm tree. The food and service for the entire event were fantastic. From appetizers to main course to desserts, the food was well prepared and delicious. Service provided by the staff was friendly and attentive. There were a couple minor hitches during the reception, but they resolved them quickly. Chateau St. Jean is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. As a non-drinker, I don't know enough about their wine to have an opinion on their quality, but I think you will really enjoy the serene setting.

Tempted to keep this hidden gem of a winery to myself, but it's too good not to share! We found…read morethis winery through our GEMS membership via AXR in Napa. It's rare that I'm able to find a place where I love every wine poured - but La Rochelle truly hit the mark!!! EXPECT: Prior to our visit, my husband and I answered a few questions online (ex: our current knowledge of wine, what topics interested us like clone varietals or appellations) and La Rochelle customized the tasting to our interests. I wish every winery did this - it made our tasting so much more enjoyable knowing that they knew our expectations! VISIT: We had requested to sit outside, and even though it was a chilly day they made us comfortable with cozy blankets and heaters. I love that they made every effort to help us sit outside & have the experience we were aiming for. We were the only visitors and loved the intimate experience sitting in their back garden complete with chickens & a wine cat! WINE: In regards to the wine itself, superb! Their Pinot Noirs & Chardonnays are small lot, single vineyards. Every Pinot was different than the last and it was such a treat to taste a Pinot Meunier and their special Pinot Noir Polyphony. We left with a bottle of 2018 Pinot Noir from the Bacigalupi Vineyard. Our host was so knowledgeable and we really enjoyed our conversations with him. It's clear the owner, Chuck, is passionate about wine. This is one of my favorite wineries in Sonoma (good wine, good value, and good people!) - will likely join their wine club and 1000% will be going back & bringing friends!

They are located off of a side street, rather than the main road, but are worth a visit all the same. Their "hidden" location makes the experience feel casual, relaxing, and quaint. At the entrance to the lot, you'll see a blue vehicle and the LaRochelle logo, so you'll know you're in the right place. Parking is plentiful in front of the grapes. As you enter the building, you'll see a counter on your way in, as well as a collection of Library wines. In the back, where you'll sit for your tasting, it is a serene farmhouse feel. There is ample seating at picnic tables, etc. and while tasting, you'll enjoy the sounds of water trickling from the koi pond on the property. In fact, you'll feel as if you're in a friend's backyard, rather than at a winery. The croquet course and wide open grassy area further enforces that vibe. And how could one forget about the chickens! They have a few chickens on the property that occasionally have been roaming on our visits, but usually are in the coop. The owner's dog also occasionally makes an appearance. The wines are delicious and the staff is knowledgeable about the tasting notes and growing details of each wine. My parents are members at this winery, so I've been several times, and they are PHENOMENAL at making their members feel at home. In fact, they even just held a complimentary Member appreciation event where they provided an extravagant "make your own wreath" event, complete with fresh eucalyptus, pine, and all the decoration options you could possibly imagine, as well a turkey and mashed potato meal.
