EMX Health — formerly AC Adderson Healthcare Inc. — was founded in 1992 by Terry Pfeil, a retired Marine Corps Search and Rescue helicopter pilot. Terry named the company in honor of his cousin Tony Adderson, who passed away at age 32 in 1989. Having witnessed firsthand the challenges families face when a loved one's health is compromised his mother sustained brain damage at 46 Terry built a company rooted in compassion, accountability, and exceptional service. For over 32 years that mission has never changed. Today, under the EMX Health name, we continue to grow while staying true to the values this company was built on.
Meet the Business Owner: Derek Z.
Derek Zimmer has been an entrepreneur his entire adult life, starting his first business at 19 and self-employed ever since. With 13 years in project management, logistics, and business operations, he brings a builder's mentality to everything he touches.
Three years ago Derek acquired AC Adderson Healthcare — now EMX Health — and immersed himself in the DME/HME world, expanding insurance contracts and growing relationships with Medicare, Medi-Cal, and commercial payors.
His vision is simple: take a 32-year foundation and build it into a modern provider that delivers better outcomes for patients and stronger partnerships for physicians and health plans.
