Great customer service. Even meet me there on a Sunday. You can't ask for anything better than that.

Carpet Barn - Damage caused by carpet layer

It's been about a year and we love it! Still looks great. They were efficient and professional. Very easy to get a hold of if you have any questions. We got a great deal on the tile and the prices were fair. Will use them again for any future needs. They have a ton of great options in their floor room.

When we told them about the issue, they said they would fix it. They sent the carpet layer back with NO supplies to repaint the base. We had to provide all of the supplies: paint brush, paint, floor covering, etc. As a person in the construction industry, I know how long it should have taken to repaint the baseboards. He was there for approximately an hour. When we came back to inspect the work, it looked as if the person used his fingers to fill the damaged areas, instead of painting the entire board. We called to complain. They sent the same man back to try again. He did the same thing again, but this time he left hand prints on our freshly painted walls. We called his boss to explain the issue AGAIN. We had to bring in and pay an actual painter to fix the problem. Carpet Barn would not help us with this cost. We will NOT use this company again and DO NOT recommend them.

They also came and tried to put some paint like substance on top that just made it worse. Scheduling with them was such a nightmare I'll jsut live with the terrible work. They gave me less than 12 hours notice multiple times trying to get this scheduled (including calling me at 4pm on a Friday to have someone come on a Saturday- um no we have plans). Finally told me he would come on a Thursday and it would be a one day job-it wasn't so I had to cancel going out of town. Nightmare experience from start to finish.

This process was less than smooth with the installers not showing up on the day they were supposed to and then when they did show up the next day the only one who spoke English left so communicating with them was a nightmare! When the one who spoke English came back, he left my flooring in the back of their truck sitting in the sun the whole time, when I asked if it should be brought in he said no. I then asked if this flooring needed to have a moisture barrier pad under it and again was told no. At the end of the installation, I had almost 2 boxes of extra flooring and asked if I could please get a refund on it, I was told by Tim "well, there will be a restocking fee to do that so it's really not worth it." Jump forward to June of this year and my flooring was buckling. I started calling the store asking for someone to come look at my floors. I originally spoke to Keith who said he would have Tim call me, which he never did. The following week we went on vacation so tried to call again when we got back home. Another week passed and we were now in to July. I finally spoke to Tim who said he would be by my house that night before going to church, he didn't show up. I finally was fed up so tracked down who the owner of the company was and sent him a message regarding the run around I was getting. Needless to say, Keith showed up to my home that night. Immediately he says it was a manufacturer problem and he would file a warranty claim on it. Approximately a week and a half later an independent inspector comes to see the floor. Her determination was that the installers, who River City Flooring hired, had not done the job correctly. They had not left any expansion gaps and my floor had also drawn moisture from there not being a moisture barrier put down first. My floor was never tested for moisture either. So we begin the replacement process and I decided to put the LVP in my dining room also which had not been done previously. This was approximately an additional 111 sq ft. On the initial quote I was sent not only did they want me to pay for the labor cost to remove the floor but only wanted to credit me $3745.17 when my initial purchase was $4086.92. They also charged me $76.99 again for taking up the toilet and placing a new seal again, I didn't argue that point because I thought there was a cost there of the seal. When my toilet was lifted and placed back, there was no new seal installed so I got taken on that charge. My bottom line after purchasing the labor to install the additional flooring, labor to cut a 4 ft section of tile, moisture barrier, additional flooring and quarter round for my dining room was $1242.06. At the end of the job, I had 2 1/2 boxes of tile left that was not used. Each box covers 23.89 sq ft for a total of 47.78 sq ft at a total cost to me at $3.79 sq ft of $181.09 plus $17.20 tax so $198.29. Remember, I also had one box left from the first install, which I have no use for now or in the future, at a cost of $106.00. I called the store regarding these last two boxes and asked for a refund on them, two boxes extra is excessive in my opinion to expect a customer to pay for. Keith actually had the audacity to say that I had not paid for those??? I reminded him that yes, I had paid for those in the $1242.06 that I had paid them for the additional flooring and moisture barrier. He then says "I just don't feel like you're being appreciative of what we did for you in replacing your floor." Hello, you hired the installers who did not do the installation correctly and I'm supposed to be appreciative that you took the responsibility you should have? I paid for everything extra I added over the initial installation and had no problem with doing that but I DO NOT feel that I should have to pay for two additional boxes of tile just because Tim did not order it correctly! Keith then says "Well, I'll have to contact the owner about a refund because he had to eat the cost of this so I doubt he will approve a refund." Keith has never called me back. So, my advice to anyone is to NOT use River City Flooring! They will charge you for extra product and apparently there is nothing you can do about that and they also make profit off of the charge they do for labor. I forgot to ask the last installers what they were being paid but the first installers were being paid $1 sq ft but I was charged $2.39 a sq ft. They are shiesty, so beware if you choose to use them! Fingers crossed that my flooring actually last this time, but if not I'll be contacting an attorney! A very upset customer, Sheila Torres Conway, AR! Update to the review. After contacting the BBB, the owner of the company had the store manager call me and a refund was issued for the 3 boxes of flooring that were unused. Kudos to the owner for stepping up and doing the right thing!

I noticed the installer, Ed, using a small sander in the second bedroom. When asked what he was doing, he said he was "smoothing out the floor". I asked him if that was going to work. He said it would. He also used white quarter round against my dark floor and dark baseboards. He did take them up when I told him it looked awful and was not acceptable. He came back several times trying to match the baseboard. Finally, I told him to just let it go. He said as the stain dried it would match better...of course, it never did. The floors were installed and initially looked okay. The big problem arose a year or so later when I tripped on the flooring. I realized then that the flooring was coming apart. I called the installer who came and glued down one of the boards and said he would have to talk to Stephen about the floor. I didn't hear anything for a long while so I called the store. Two other installers came by and looked at the floor. On leaving they stated Stephen would contact me. I called the store manager numerous times and left messages which received no response. Finally, someone answered once Mr. Gessner was ill. Another time he was on vacation and i was told he would call me when he returned...he never did. He eventually responded after I sent a text to his cell asking why he was ghosting me. He came by and stated his insurance person would have to see the floor. Someone did come by. The result, per Stephen, was that the insurance company denied the claim, assigning blame to the house settling and would be my responsibility to fix. This house was built over 50 years ago and yes, settling is an aspect of houses. However, this house had already settled way before this started. I regret having ever done business with this company and I NEVER will again! I would NOT recommend them to my WORST enemy!

I asked to talk to you personally, however they didn't know who you were. So I asked once again to talk with Mr. Bowie. The nice lady who I talked with; after explaining the whole situation again, told me that Chad was not there and that she would make sure that he got the message and would call me back. It is now one month later and I have still not received a call from him. I did however call Mr. Kevin Ewick, repair coordinator at the corporate office. I talked with him about a year ago about the issue, and was not able to talk with him again although I left many messages. I was told (about a year ago) that a man was going to come look at the brick. Kevin said that he did come and do some work on the brick although I wasn't home when it happened nor could I tell any difference in the look of the bricks. I told him also that the bricks have continued to get worse. Kevin then told me that there was nothing else he could do to fix the problem. So Mr. Britt, I have done what you asked. You talked about the dissatisfaction of the appearance has changed. What you do not understand is that it's more than the appearance, the slurry is completely coming off the brick. Look at the pictures. That cannot be repaired by simply touching it up with paint or stain. What you are suggesting is a bandaid for a severed limb. After taking with Mr. Ewick I decided to use a water hose on the bricks to see if some of the appearance was dirt that has splattered on them from rain. To my surprise, as I was spraying them I discovered that the slurry was actually coming off with the water. Sir, the brick are defective. I am not only disappointed in the product but also the lack of response from this store. I told Mr. Ewick that I left a message with Mr. Bowie but I didn't have much hope of hearing from him because I had left numerous messages with him. He suggested that I wait three weeks for a response and if I hadn't heard anything to call him back. So I called him last week, on Monday the 16th, and he told me that he had talked to Mr. Bowie and he told him that he was going to call me that day. Well it's a week later and no call. I've been dealing with this problem for a year and a half now. So, anyone reading this review can read the response, and decide for yourself if you want to do business with this store.
