The Capitol Theatre is a worthy home of the high-quality work that is presented here. It's a little bit less grand than what I'm used to, but still a beautiful stage and curtain that is well appointed and does what any good theater should. It successfully puts your mind in body in that space where you're ready to digest an artistic effort with just the right amount of respect and anticipation that is appropriate. It's also well managed. I've been to a couple of events held here in the lobby that were again... Perfectly conceived and executed. This is a real feather in Salt Lake City's cap.

Everything was perfect and top-notch. The seats were comfortable, and this is the kind of place where there's not a bad seat in the house. I could see and hear all of it very well. The playhouse is lovely. The staff were lovely too! This was a great experience. Parking is limited, but it wasn't too difficult to find the parking around the neighborhood. I will definitely be checking the schedule for something to see next time I'm in town.

Their season is carefully curated to be a reflection of the world around us. The staff are extremely dedicated to embracing their audience. And it's refreshing to see shows that aren't done everywhere. I believe their mantra is "We're Not Going To Do Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Not that there's anything wrong with that show, but I do have this theory that it's much like Seinfeld, in that no matter the date it's playing somewhere in the world. Because of the selectivity of their schedule, it's never going to appeal to massive crowds. And so they'll probably always have a limited budget and limited resources. They do squeeze the most out of those resources, and the shows look pretty good. They also find some good talent, so I've never been awkwardly underwhelmed. Worth checking out. Shows aren't totally expensive, and though they're simply staged and locally done it's still enough for real enjoyment.

Their shows can sometimes be edgy, but they always are high class productions. The producers hire talented staff who cast talented actors. I have seen these same actors play at Hale, Desert Star, Pioneer, and many other local community theaters. I am a fan of this theater company, I encourage everyone to check them out. Tickets are always available online on their website or at the door. They also sell apparel merchandise like shirts and hats. Concessions are for sale as well. City Creek is also close by if you wanted to do some shopping beforehand. Theater itself is very clean. They do have a small concession stand. They also have a restaurant inside that would be fun to try before the play! The production of Phantom of the opera was incredible. We sat on the fourth row. I highly recommend sitting on that row or closer! The cast was outstanding and super talented. I highly recommend!

The actors change, the games change, and funny changes. So let's be straight up honest, it is at 10:00 p.m. for a reason. They sometimes have an early show that is always family friendly. The later shows are still clean, but get a little PG-13 from time to time. Were it me, I'd leave the kids at home with grandma, and take my man out for a night of funny, in your face, comedy fun. The shows recently moved to the Midvale Performing Arts Center which has a great big stage for these comedians to play with. The teams are usually well matched in improv funny.
