    ALMOST 5 hrs on HOLD!
    Taretta D.

I would give them negative stars if possible. I have been calling them for two months now. My daughter went unemployed in March, after filing "correctly" she received a notice that her claim was being reviewed due to an issue with her notating the form that she was in "training" vs in "school"; she has been trying to clear up this issue since MARCH! There are many days where we do not get through at all; on the days we do get a live person; we are told she has to speak to a TIER 3 person to clear the issue. When we are transferred from a TIER 1 to TIER 3 person, 9x's out of 10 we get disconnected, sometimes it is on PURPOSE; the person does not even try to speak to us, they simply transfer without explanation, then we get the dial tone. We were told that the majority of the PHONE reps are TELE-WORKERS....working from home. This is not the issue, the issue is DO YOUR JOB!! I was told that the phone systems on holds the first 100 (ONE HUNDRED) callers in their queue....if you are lucking you could be one of those people. They said there are 1000's of people calling per-day, per-hour.....it is a fricking lottery if you get through! I was able to make it to a representative a few times. I spoke, Jennifer, Kathleen, Justin, George, and a Jacqueline; I'm not sure if this is there real names but they do not give last names. None of these reps have been rude, they simply do not do a good job at assuring MY ISSUE is resolved. NO ONE calls you back if you get disconnected, and NO ONE calls you back after a rep tries to transfer you, NO ONE calls you back after they MAKE A "SO CALLED NOTE" in your claim that you are calling to correct this issue. This is ridiculous, JOE BIDEN should hear about how well this UNEMPLOYEMENT SYSTEM is "NOT" working in the state of California. CALIFORNA - get your act together. I have family in different states (WA, TX, OK) and they did not have this many issues to get unemployment issues resolved. SEEMS the biggest state does not have their ACT together. THIS IS HORRIBLE services....NO REASON why you have to be on hold for FOUR HOURS and not get a rep!! You are paying your employees to send your customers into a black hole of "WAITING".....this is a waste of TAX PAYERS money.......I've placed over a 100 phone calls (even used three separate phones) and spent HOURS on holding to get this issue resolved. YOU ALL hang-up, and overall suck at your jobs.

First of all the wait to see a clerk was very fast (having an appointment I believe helps..) and the new office unlike the old place was very pleasant. I waited only less than 10 minutes from the time I walked through the door to speak with the clerk. The person I dealt with, Ms. Morales was a pleasure to deal with. She was well spoken and it was very easy to understand her directions and questions to me. She had a very relaxed but very focused attitude and she was very sharp. There was a error in the spelling of my name which needed to be corrected on their records and she fixed that immediately with no problems. Once I ordered my new card with the correct name, she reviewed my retirement benefits because I had submitted my application online. She made me aware of some errors and unanswered questions by me on the application and fixed those problems as well without me having to ask her. Then to add icing on the cake, when I left their offices Ms. Morales made a point of following up on her own with my retirement application. Even though I didn't ask her to do it, she went ahead and help make sure the application was gonna be processed. When I returned home I found a message on my phone informing me that she had followed up with my retirement benefits.....NOW THAT IS SERVICE AND GOING THE EXTRA MILE. Iwas really very impressed by her professionalism and quick thinking. This is really what made the experience so nice. Dealing with government agencies can be difficult at times but dealing with Ms. Morales was a joy and a pleasure. Someone should give this young lady a promotion !

San Francisco Outdoor Warning System - In SF on a Tuesday? SET your alarm clocks for noontime and hear this!

The siren comes on, and I wait until the voices in English and Chinese. As they're talking, I howl and howl and howl. I am translating it into dog language, since the City is not considerate enough to realize how many dogs there are and how we'd like some communications ourselves. I mean, what if there were a tsumani and we decided it was time to head for the beach for a swim? How would we know that was a bad move? Fortunately I dabble in English so I know what they're saying (even though my people barely can understand it) and I communicate it to my fellow dogs. Do I get any thanks from the City? No! Or from my people? No! They just laugh at me and take videos. But I know the dogs of my block appreciate me. I get lots of pee-mail on our tree telling me so."

Better than Swiss Cuckoos!…read more SITREP Was staying nearby downtown in the Financial District / Union Square hoods in the Wyndham hotel for the week when wanding up Grant Avenue in Chinatown I hear the "Tuesday Noon Siren" go off. SETUP The Tuesday Noon Siren has become one of those community events that is based on a serious effort to be "at the ready" to broadcast important community information should a local / national disaster take place and there is an important need to disseminate information. Admittedly, it almost seems pointless in this day & age of cell phones and "news in your palm" via smartphones. But what people forget is that sometimes these "hard-wired" networks to pass information that are supported with back-up generators and independent energy-sustainability may be the only way in an emergency to get information out on a broad-scale "town square" or "herald" effort when the cell towns are town and the power grid has died. KITSCHY COMMUNITY HIJACK In the meantime, the Tuesday Noon Siren has become it's own sort of entity and "local character" that people look forward to hearing and event tracking time to. It's also example of when a utilitarian / emergency system starts to take on a life of it's own. I'm kinda reminded of the Interstate Highway system that President Eisenhower established in the 50s as a means to transport military hardware such as tanks and military vehicles quickly throughout the country. And yet, for example, we all use I-80 and I-5 to take us to our vacation destinations now. SIREN GOES OFF Humorously, there's a video on YouTube already that shares "the excitement" of the klaxon horn going off. It's pretty sedate, but cool nonetheless as you hear th klaxon horn, the emergency announcement in English, then followed by the emergency announcement in Chinese: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o3sEVVVTVo&feature=youtu.be THE LOWDOWN One of those totally random quirky, yet interesting local events, that captures a moment of fun in general, but serves a vital community purpose specifically.
